Great value for espresso, but clogs and poor for pour-over.

Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
The steps are too large to get any sort of precision IMO, if you are lucky you may be able to pull a decent shot with the right beans but I wasn’t
The Baratza encore is a great entry level burr grinder. Ive had mine for about 6 years. Its never let me down, used daily, easy to clean. Not the flashiest thing to sit on the counter; but is a work horse. https://a.co/d/48PjdUg
Yes! Bought mine from there also, it was $99 then. Too bad costco doesn't carry it, they would never have to deal with returns!
I give the grinder a bonk on the counter and it settles all the grounds. No issues when i use the bonk.
The Baratza Encore is the one to get. Ive had mine for going on 6 years. Set and forget so long as you stick to the same beans. I like to tinker, so if i swap beans i play with the settings, which is easy, and no problem to swap back to your settings for your day to day bean. For the price point its well built, sturdy, simple, and functional, easy clean, best in its class; but the materials arent the nicest if you are looking for coffee countertop bling.
I think it depends how far down the espresso rabbit hole you want to go. By getting beans ground elsewhere, you're not able to tweak the grind size when putting it into your machine, and likely would need to use a pressurized filter which won't really let the beans shine. Having a grinder lets you make tweaks depending on your taste, and overall (if you are willing to put the effort in) should mean that you're getting the best out of the beans. You can also get some [very good ones](https://ecscoffee.com/products/baratza-encore-conical-burr-coffee-grinder?variant=20692961329210&country=CA¤cy=CAD) for $200 or so and maybe it would be best to try out grinding your own coffee with a cheaper grinder before spending a ton of money on stuff? With that said, if you're just going to be making lattes, then I think just get the roasters to grind them for you.
Currently an encore because my Timemore Sculptor 078s has been delayed. The encore is hard to dial in perfectly but I've gotten some decent shots. And when a bit off have been good enough for milk drinks. I tried to wait but gave it a shot with the encore because my Profitec Move sitting unused made me too sad 😂. I thought the encore would be way worse tbh and should have the Sculptor within the next few weeks. The encore was purchased for around 200 Cad, 10+ years ago. I got the Sculptor for 969 CAD + tax.
The Encore doesn't have fine enough adjustment to properly dial shots in but it does get fine enough for espresso. I've been pulling good enough shots with mine the past week and a half as my timemore 078s delivery got delayed and couldn't wait anymore to try out my Profitec Move. I choked my machine at around 5-7 on the Encore.
The regular encore does grind fine enough just has too big steps. Could choke my machine with regular encore.
It has an internal adjustment thing to get finer. Not always calibrated the same at factory.
I have the ode 2 with the flat burrs and it’s fantastic. I like it a lot more than my encore I had before it. I do Hario switch mostly.
Hey bro, you’re not missing some secret “third Encore” here 😄 Most of the time those different EAN/UPC numbers are just **different barcodes for the same Encore classic** (EU vs US packaging, different importer, different store SKU, sometimes even just a database/listing mismatch). All three codes you posted are getting sold as the **regular Encore (Model 485 / BA485)** depending on the shop.
