I will say yes I have a Bodem for drip and French press a Ceado 37 for espresso and a hand grinder for when I'm traveling. Sold my ECM for the Ceado.

Second the Baratza Encore. Used to have a cheap Bodum blade grinder which annihilated my coffee beans. Moved to the Baratza and my cold brew was SO much better - no bitterness because i could get a coarse grind.

I’m gonna say realistically any grinder around $100 will get the job done. You’re going to get boulders and size inconsistencies and they will clog regularly, but I used a Bodum Bistro for years even for my chemex.

When I upgraded, I dropped mine off at my parents. It still gets used so I don’t have to pack all of my gear up. For mostly plastic parts, like you said still chugging along

The Breville had the best ratings when I was doing my research, but I just couldn't justify the price tag. I went for the Bodum Bistro in the end and have been very happy with it. I like that it hold a good amount of beans and delivers the same amount at every press of the button. I also like the glass receptacle that doesn't build up static.

I have had that grinder for years and it's a big upgrade over a blade grinder.

Agreed. My timeline went Bodum electric to C2 Chestnut to X Ultra to K6 and I don't get why people bash on manual grinders. For espresso, less beans are required than other brews and it's not that much of a workout. And that's coming from a guy who is doing two light roast iced Americanos each morning.

Hi, I currently have a Bodum Bistro which has worked relatively well for daily use for about four years now. Unfortunately, it looks like it bit the dust. It makes weird mechanical whine then an electrical buzz and shuts off. Even when completely cleaned out it will run normal but as soon as one adds beans it repeats the above. The Bodum was $80 and I’m thinking for my needs maybe anything under $175 or so is reasonable. I’m not always making the highest quality coffee but I do make coffee daily and enjoy good coffee. Any tips? Suggestions?

We have had a Bodum Bistro for about 5 years. It works well and has decent metal burrs and goes reasonably fine - not sure if it quite espresso fine, but we don't drink espresso. It's small and looks fairly neat. Costs about £70 Minor downsides are: 1. it creates a little bit of mess (some grounds seem to get left and fall out when you remove the glass container) 2. when you have beans in the hopper it can't be unloaded very easily i.e. if you want to do a different batch of beans. If you try removing the hopper all the beans fall out.
