Great value for espresso, but clogs and poor for pour-over.

The df 64 will do both, it’s a pain in the ass to switch between grind sizes all the time though. Id honestly get a df64 and a cheaper one for regular drip coffee. I used to have a df64 for espresso and a capresso grinder for drip. It worked well. I now use my df64 for drip and a libra ap for espresso.
I have an ecm synchronika ii and a eureka libra ap. I love the setup. Buy both, land in the middle of that budget and be done forever.
Get two. I have a df 64 i use for drip now and a eureka libra 65ap gbw for espresso. I recommend grind by weight, it enhances workflow a lot. Mazzer and malkhonig make sole really nice grinders. Webber eg1 and basically any kaffetek will all be considered top tier grinders by most ppl
I was in a similar situation coming off a Breville Barista Express I went with a Sync 2 and Eureka Libra AP. Hindsight 20/20 I would've went with Atom 75W instead purely for speed reasons. GBW workflow is amazing and makes my life super easy.
Yes the Atom 75 is the top of their home line. The W is grind by weight. The silenzio and specialata are both from their eureka line. The Eureka Mignon Libra is the grind by weight GbW option for that line. I currently have the Eureka Mignon Libra but would probably upgrade to a Atom75W for speed purposes in coming year or so.
I’ve got an atom w75 and a libra ap65 with black diamond Italian espresso burrs. The grinds are fluffier with the w75, and the screen interface is definitely nicer and more modern. But taste wise, I can’t really tell the difference between them with medium and dark roasts. I haven’t done light roasts with either yet. If you’re planning on doing more light roasts, I’d go with the ap65 and swap in the black diamond espresso specialty burrs, that way you can enjoy the light roasts more.
Because you can readily get the black diamond espresso specialty burrs in 65mm which is recommended for light roasts, so the Libra Ap 65. But if you want to burn more cash, get the w75 and the black diamond espresso specialty burrs in 75mm
I have first hand experience with both grinders. Just not with light roasts, since I prefer medium and dark roasts. My recommendation was based on the machines plus the ability to swap the burrs for your preference of lighter roasts. If not, it’s a fairly short list of GBW grinders that are suited for light roasts and in that price range which you should consider.
I do prefer the larger knob on the AP65, but the W75 also has markings to keep track as well. Granted, I'm not really making drastic changes on either one. I just make small adjustments every now and then.
I just picked up a eureka mignon libra AP and it is life changing
I don't have experience with the Philos, but it does look like a very nice grinder. I personally like the convenience of the Libra where I can fill the hopper with beans and it doses by weight. I can see the purpose of the Philos if you change coffees regularly, but we use the same coffee on the daily and the hopper works in our favor in that regard. We upgraded to the Libra from a Bezzera BB005TM and it was a big improvement. It has literally made accurate dosing bang-on every time (to be fair to the Philos that would also happen when you weigh out the beans)
I just got my Eureka Mignon Libra 65 AP a week ago, and I love it. I make several back-to-back double shots every morning, and the weighing of beans for every shot started to get annoying. I started weighing out 4 shots of beans at once into separate containers, which helped, but I felt the retention and mess of my DF64V was ruining the experience. Dosing and cleanup with the Eureka is so much more enjoyable. I use a whole bag of beans in a week, so not too concerned about them getting stale. Sometimes I just put in a half-bag at a time, still better than before.
I have mignon Libra AP GBW. It’s pretty good. Reduces 1 step in the morning to weigh the beans
