Based on 1 year's data from Feb 13, 2026 How it works
Since the tariff made the the niche zero too expensive i ended up getting the eureka zero 65 which I really like so far, but don't have anything to compare it to except the baraza. TBH just liked the look over the DF64 (and i heard it was loud). I still use the old grinder for drip now since it doesnt really take up any extra usable space, the way its setup.
Eureka Mignon Zero 65 with Black Diamond Espresso Specialty burrs and Comandante C40 for pour overs
The df 64 will do both, it’s a pain in the ass to switch between grind sizes all the time though. Id honestly get a df64 and a cheaper one for regular drip coffee. I used to have a df64 for espresso and a capresso grinder for drip. It worked well. I now use my df64 for drip and a libra ap for espresso.
Another detail: I 3d printed an inclined base for my Eureka Zero and it didn't make any difference in retention, which by the way is very low.
I bought the Eureka Mignon Zero 65 AP from Clive Coffee, on their advice after hearing about my experience with the DF54. Quite a bit more expensive, but I have been completely satisfied. Grinds to almost infinite differences, nearly no retention and certainly no mess. Comes with a fitted top for the dosing cup. I use no water spray at all on the beans—I mean, come on, does anybody think it seems sensible to add water to beans prior to putting them in a grinder??? I have cleaned it out a couple of times just to maintain it, but I find very little build up. Super happy with the investment, lesson learned.
Eureka Mignon Zero 65AP. Awesome in every way.
I bought the Eureka Mignon Zero 65 AP. It’s been perfect: no clogging, very little retention and seemingly infinite range of grinds. Can’t believe the difference with the DF54, to be honest.
I have a Eureka zero AP65 for a month now (450€), and I think it's underrated by most people. I really enjoy it
I have the Eureka Mignon Zero 65. It's built like a tank, is surprisingly quiet, and makes nice espresso. I haven't seen any reason to complain about build quality yet. Retention is minimal if you give the bellows a good push every time. It's not a $3000 grinder but it's a lot of grinder for the money.
I have a Mignon and I am in this boat. I wound up making a small printed paper circle in Illustrator that I laminated to keep track of where I have adjusted the dial. I use a loop of gaffer’s tape to keep it in place. Decidedly lo-tech, but does the job. Once you use it a few times it’s easy to get a general sense of where the adjustment knob needs to be. It’s not the easiest UX in the world, but the fine control over the grind is worth it to me as I brew everything from coarse french press to Turkish. I did also get one of the smaller dosing bellows hoppers for it, which has been a fantastic addition for avoiding retention.
1zpresso K ultra (250) and Eureka Mignon zero 65 AP (500) and love both of them. The hand grinder is great and probably the best option hand grinder wise for filter in my opinion unless you are looking for more clarity (yet more difficult to dial in) then go with ZP6 I guess. It is also great on the go for aeropress and I am yet to get a bad cup out of it. the Mignon is for home brewing (mainly espresso but occasional filter as well) and is a great all round performer. Built very well and hopefully will last me a long time.
I’m not sure you’ll get a grinder at $500 that will do all brew types. I have the Eureka Mignon Zero 65 grinder ($500) that is definitely more espresso-focused but it produces good pour over, etc. it’s just not great. The espresso off it is fantastic though. If you’re asking for a dream set up for a grinder that can do it all, I’d buy the Mazzer Philos.
My Zero 65 is pretty quiet. I had a Baratza ESP for a short while before I ditched it and that was much louder. It doesn’t have grind by weight or time, I think that’s the only big upgrade I would make next, but that would be a huge jump to something like the Atom 65 or 75. I also love the limited retention. If I switch between really coarse for pour over to really fine for espresso, the first grind loses a bit more than normal (maybe half a gram) but otherwise I get very consistent 0.0-0.1g retention when I RDT. For $500, it feels like a great bang for buck purchase. I’ve heard people complain about the dial on the Eurekas, but the Zero 65 has the newer, large dial face and I’ve found it super easy to use when dialing in (pictured). https://preview.redd.it/e8yg4uca4cgg1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ff26510c2ceda2f0c1da4d594fe6236ee1a0310
