E65s gbw is fantastic in practical home use.
E65s GBW. Perfect every single time.
Most of the recommendation you have received so far are wrong, because their authors erroneously assume that you are "one of us", while you are clearly a normie. You don't need a single-dose grinder; instead, you need a grinder with a hopper and a GbW (**Grind by Weight**) function. Similarly, it is crucial, that your espresso machine is very automated. It must have automatic pre-infusion, and **volumetric** dosing. You don't need manual flow control, etc. \--- For example, espresso machines: Victoria Arduino Eagle One Prima, Sanremo YOU grinders: Mahlkönig E65S GbW, Eureka Atom W 65
This. I have all the grinders for commercial use gb80 gbw , e65 gbw, varios, mazzer zm etc. For my home setup I just pre weigh and use a baratza esp pro. Extremely happy with it, especially at 179.00.
I have one, retention is absolutely dreadful and the portafilter forks don’t work v well. GBW is cool but I’d consider looking elsewhere, maybe the new mahlkonig home gbw?
I have the Mahlkonig e65 GBW. A beast, powerful, quiet and fast. However its big so make sure you have the height.
I decided to end my cafe-envy comprehensively last year and bought a La Marzocco Linea Mini R. Got that from Vero coffee in Dublin. For grinding, I used coffeeitalia.ie. They also go as coffeecult and their marketing material has an Una Walsh on the emails. I believe they’re Italy-based. They were okay to deal with but my grinder took 4wks to deliver. I bought the Mahlkönig E65S GBW. I *had* been a big Sage fan and loved the auto-grind/dose/tamp of the Oracle which is why I’ve emulated that with a GBW (Grind-by-Weight) grinder. Just pop in the portafilter and get precisely the grounds volume you want. Repeatably. Every time. You’re absolutely correct to look at your grinder as first port of call for an upgrade. But do buy one that’ll last or can be repaired. It’ll see you out.
I looked at the Fiorenzato and it looks pretty awesome. Also, at a workshop, I had the opportunity to play with a Mahlkonig E65S GBW and it is just a pleasure to dial in with and makes phenomenal coffee, but it is over 2X the budget
