Hey everyone! How are you? Since there aren't any reviews of OutIn's electric coffee grinder here on the sub, I decided to talk a little about it. I apologize in advance for the long text. I tried to upload a video, but I couldn't. I don't know if external links are allowed, so I'll try adding images to the text. When you receive the grinder, it's not fully charged. In fact, it doesn't come with enough battery to grind. So, after removing the seal/stickers, you'll plug it in to charge. The charging port is on the back of the device. The manual instructs you to use the cable that comes with the grinder and to use a 5V/1A charger. Has the white light stopped flashing? It's fully charged. It takes about an hour to fully charge. Clear/white light: 100%~30%. Yellow light: 20% (I charge when the yellow light appears) Red light: Charge the grinder. Warning if you didn't respect the "breathing time" (90 seconds between grinds) or grinded for more than 5 minutes: The white light will flash 3 times and your grinder will stop working. I'm a bit of a wimp and I respected the recommended time. I haven't had any problems with this. "Bean blockage" warning (some beans got stuck): The red lights will flash. This happened to me. I gently tapped the side and the grinder corrected it, grinding the stuck beans during the next grind. If that doesn't work: Disassemble (explained below) and clean. Construction: It's made of aluminum, silicone, and food-grade plastic. It has a 38mm conical (7-sided) blade, external adjustment, and a rubberized base to keep your grinder steady while grinding. It weighs 690 grams. It has a great grip, and although I've only used it twice, I feel confident in saying it's comfortable to carry. With my bad arm, I managed to carry a backpack, a scale, the Nano, and a V60 with it. If I didn't feel uncomfortable, you certainly won't. It's solid enough to stay put on your countertop, yet light enough to carry in your backpack. Passions aside, it's truly beautiful. You don't need to hide it in a cabinet. It's a device you're proud to have on your countertop (I'm trying to contain myself here, as I think the Fino is the most beautiful device in my setup). Maximum grind capacity: 25 grams. Can it handle 25 grams? Yes, but it can make a mess, and yes, that's a personal thing, but 25 grams per grind is a lot for me. I make 5, 6, 16, and 18 grinds. No mess and in what I consider to be a great time. Grinding time: The manual calls for a 90-second rest between grinds and advises not to grind for more than five minutes continuously. Some notes on grinding time: Grinding 5 grams on click 1: 37 seconds Grinding 15.5 grams on click 2: 58 seconds Grinding 5 grams on click 3: 25 seconds Grinding 5 grams on click 4: 25 seconds Grinding 5 grams on click 5: 22 seconds Grinding 5 grams on click 6: 18 seconds Grinding 5 grams on click 7: 17 seconds Grinding 16.2 grams on click 7: 48 seconds Grinding 5 grams on click 8: 17 seconds Grinding 5 grams on click 9: 15 seconds Grinding 5 grams on click 10: 14 seconds Grinding: Uniform, consistent, generates very few fines and retention is minimal (in most cases). Most of the time, I didn't experience any retention. I have a video showing this, in case anyone is interested. I took the photos at all grind levels. One additional note: I didn't clean (disassemble) the grinder between grinds. I started at 10 and worked my way down to 01, just to capture real-life use. See the photos and let me know what you think. Cleaning: Using the key (it's inside the grinder box, next to the handle), turn it counterclockwise and remove the parts (memorize the order: screw, blade, spring. Use the opposite direction when assembling). Then, use the blower (they send one inside the box) and a dry, clean brush. Clean and reassemble. Battery life: Initially, I used it and didn't keep a count. For this analysis, I grinded 19 grinds of different sizes and weights, and the battery indicator remains white (100%~30%). During the 19 grinds, I ground about 150 grams of coffee. Noise: In my opinion, the noise is completely tolerable. Since I couldn't upload a video to Reddit, I tested it with a decibel meter (it's not a professional decibel meter, but it was the best way I could find to "show" the noise to you). Pros and Cons: Regarding the pros and cons, a direct and completely honest opinion: I could say that "my ratio, for filter coffees, is 16 grams (1:15.6). If I needed to make two filter coffees at the same time, I wouldn't be able to, since the Fino's maximum capacity per grind is 25 grams," but I found it unfair to the grinder. I wouldn't make two filter coffees at the same time in practically any real-life situation. I have observations about the Nano, for example, but the Fino, in my opinion, has no negative points. I owned a C3 and a K4 and... Well, I'm very happy with the Fino and don't miss my old grinders at all. I also don't see myself replacing this grinder with another (remember: This is very personal. For me, it's perfect). It's beautiful, portable, has an excellent battery, virtually no retention, a good weight, the grind is uniform and consistent, its construction is incredible, and the only physical effort I need to exert is pressing a button. That's it, folks. If I missed any details, feel free to ask me in the comments and I'll be happy to answer. Sorry for the long story, any grammatical errors (English isn't my native language), and thank you for your time.

Thanks so much for your comment, Mike! The J-Ultra seems very precise! Very cool. If it weren't for the Fino, I would have been without coffee for a long time. Haha. I hurt myself and wouldn't be able to grind manually. Plus, I have to admit it's very convenient to press a button and get the coffee I need. For my use, it's perfect.

Hello! Unfortunately, I don't have the Timemore electric one and I wouldn't be able to compare it.

Nice review. I received my Outin Fino a couple of days ago. I agree that the Fino is very nicely designed, easy to use, and quiet. However, the unit I received, at least, has a fatal flaw - it simply is not able to grind fine enough for use with a proper espresso machine. On the very lowest “1” setting the grounds are just fine enough to be suitable for the Outin Nano, they are certainly not fine enough for an espresso machine under all circumstances. For instance, at the moment I am using slightly-older-than-optimal, locally-roasted, medium roasted beans, grinding at setting "9" on a well-used Breville Smart Grinder Pro, extracting on a Dual Boiler. I estimate the lowest "1" setting on the Fino is approximately equivalent to setting "20" on the Smart Grinder Pro. Never in the entire time I've used this combination (10 years) have I used a grind of 20 on the Smart Grinder Pro for espresso - the coarsest setting I've used for unusual beans is probably 14, and most of the time I grind between 9 - 12. I have tried all the suggested remedies on the Outin website FAQ, but nothing has improved the performance of the Fino. I'm not sure if the limitation is due to the design or if I have a defective unit. I have contacted Outin to see what they say. In short: the unit delivered to me is an OK match for the Nano, but simply not usable for an espresso machine. That makes it a very expensive machine for a very specific purpose. Have others tried using the Fino with a proper espresso machine?

If your goal is convenience and you're already using the Nano, the Fino does pair nicely. If you just want a consistent electric option for travel or lazy mornings, it's a solid upgrade in terms of comfort.

we are not doing any firmware update at this stage. fino is a battery operated machine, there is no manual option for it.

i normally start on click 2 on fino. which is slight corser than the normal espresso grinds. for nano small portafilter basket, i use 5.5g-6g of coffee 40-50ml  water in. aiming having 30ish espresso out. pesonally i use basket plus more often. it gives me a double espresso. on fino click2 i use 16g coffee 55-60g water, around 27 seconds, get 35g of espresso. it relly depent on what kind of coffee beans you are using. if it is a light roast and you want to show the flavor and sweetness. i add more water to increase the extraction

basket plus is more like a double espresso, and little filterbasket i would like to call it single. for the 1st cup of coffee in the morning, you definitely need a double shot.🌝

I have been using the Fino for over two weeks multiple times a day and these are my thoughts. The grind quality is better than my 5 year old Barista Express grinder. Fino is really well built but the auto stop on the grinder is not very reliable. You have to give it a little shake to get all the beans through sometimes. Retention at the bottom is also an issue. It is also noticeably slow. It is acceptable as a travel grinder with its compatibility with the pro basket on the nano. I do however wish Outin made a travel case that could accommodate Nano/Fino plus puck prep and a couple shot glasses.
