I think you might like the NB64V, which is available for <€400 on frekko.nl . Haven't experienced any issues over the first months of owning it; no clumping, no static, very little retention, nice materials, acceptable noise level. I upgraded from a J-Max, also because of the knob, and have been very happy with the coffee it makes (granted, my preferences had already shifted to lighter roasts before switching, so the J-Max was already not ideal)
Have a look at the espressa Orbit 64 - this is the one I got when deciding between DF54 and the Shardor grinder. Just got it last week from Coffee Plus
Wow, I never knew Shardor type flat burr grinders are available in India. Go for Cipher Rift. I have a g5, there is no static. Retention barely there. No complains about the taste or quality. I would still suggest you go for Rift for flat burrs
Technically, flat burr over conical grinder any given day. Better particle uniformity, less fines. While it does make a difference brewing espresso (for me), it isn't a paradigm shift. I would go with Cipher if I was buying.
I do Aeropress, Clever Dripper, and drip brewer. I replaced Encore with a Shardor 64 running Ode2 burrs. Encore produced a lot of fines. Have the K6, use it for lighter roasts. Non offense, but any option will give you remarkably better results than blade grinder.
Same here. Very pleased with the results.
Watched YouTube videos on burr alignment. Need to take your time. Disassembly was very straight forward. Need allen wrench (can't remember the size) for burr fasteners.
Running Shardor 64 w/ Ode2 burrs. Very pleased with the result.
Same manufacturer and same factory but this one with titanium burrs is really much better and an all steel construction. Quite strong and I could gush for days about its consistency and fluffiness.
I just got a Cafelat Robot and needed a better grinder, myself. I got a Shardoor 64 mm flat burr grinder. It's about as fancy as a Baratza ESP, but it grinds beautifully, and you can put a set of SSP burrs in it that cost more than the grinder itself! It's only $169.99 on Amazon, but I got one brand new in the box for $100.00 on eBay. I haven't pulled a bad shot with it, yet (except when I was dialing in). Hard to beat that price and upgradeability for a flat burr machine. Lance Hedrick and Daddy Got Coffee both did a review of it.
Shardoor flat burr grinder. Same price as the Baratza, but far better. You can even put high dollar burrs in it if you want. I got mine on eBay new in the box for $100.00. I uase mine with a Cafelat Robot and have had nothing but good pulls after I got it dialed in. Oh, and I have had zero retention with it, also.
Yeah. If you don't know which of the more unknown brands are good, you're definitely better off with a name brand you know and trust. It's easy to accidentally buy a bad grinder. Shardor just happens to have a few really solid grinders in their lineup. This specific grinder has pretty decent internals and 64mm flat burrs.
Believe it or not this is actually a really solid grinder for home use (just not commercial). It will absolutely beat the brakes off of the Breville grinders.
They (Shardor) make a commercial version that is more expensive ($250), better motor, and metal housing. I'd feel better about that. But still, probably not the best idea.
If you want flat burrs, you can usually find the plastic body Shardor for really really cheap on AliX if you want to go even lower in price. If you want to expand your budget slightly, the Shardor Commercial is a tank of a machine and it is selling for $237 on Amazon currently. The Starseeker is kinda the only conical in this price range that I know of that I can recommend.
