I use two grinders. I use a DF54 exclusively for espresso, and my Shardor antistatic 48 settings conical burr grinder for everything else. It's a pretty good grinder for drip, pour overs, and french press, but I won't use it for espresso, since grinding for espresso is unforgiving and the Shardor grinder just isn't as consistent for that as the DF54.
Decided to buy it. It's great tbh. Paired with my breville bambino. It grinds to espresso grind perfectly. It's pretty quiet. Ngl it feels cheap, like the plastic parts. The actual burr seem like they're good quality. I'd recommend for the price.
Hey, I ended up purchasing the grinder and have had no significant issues with it. I use a breville bambino, and for 2 entry-level pieces of equipment, they work well together. The grinder can do an extremely fine grinder, to the point where it would jam my machine (almost Turkish level). There is trial and error, just like any grinder. I clean the burrs once a month, easy to take apart and put back together. I make anywhere from 1-3 coffees and day, and it's holding up fine. I checked Amazon for the grinder but it's not available anymore. Yes the breville is worth it. The Philipps grinder isn't worth using. It's my nonprofessional option that you'll be much better served with the shardor and the breville. It's basically an endgame budget set-up
I liked my shardor, but I had a deep and narrow (40mm) basket (a Flair Neo Flex) that allows for a coarser grind size. There’s a chance it wouldn’t grind fine enough for a standard, non-pressurized basket.
I have the Shardor flat burr and conical burr grinders. The conical one can make espresso but at settings of 0-3. It's not something I'd choose specifically for espressos but if you're at a bind it can do the job.
I was gonna spend £400 on a fancy machine but then ordered a SHARDOR Conical Burr grinder for £65 on amazon and It’s been great.
I got the Shardor for my espresso machine, but it couldn't grind fine enough for the espresso. That's why I got the DF54 and am happy with it. I think the ProCook will be as bad/good as the Shardor. Don't skimp on the mill, otherwise you'll buy twice or you won't be happy with it.
Df54 with filter burrs should be better than og2. Shardor with some mods and the right burr upgrade might be pretty incredible.
My B&D burr mill conked out with just a few months. I've been using a Shardor burr mill for 2+ years now and like it almost as much as my old Cuisinart that lasted for well over a decade.
How do i fix this? I bought an OEM version of this machine with a different brand logo, but it's exactly the same factory machine as the Shaedor. It cost me only around $83 at my local store. It works pretty well, but this is my first time using a grinder machine, so I’m not sure what might not be working well or how to improve it.
