My DF83v3 does both, well, every week.
You guys may have different zero points set. What do you have the dial set to at burr lock? I have a DF83v3 and set burr lock to about -2, which puts the chirp right about zero.
I have a DF83v3 with stock burrs I switch between espresso, FP, and V60 multiple times per week and have delicious beverages constantly. I have not tried an Ode2 or anything for a side-by-side test but my family and I are very happy with the current setup. I do have a Virtuoso+ that has been in the closet since the DF83 arrived.
I have Mignon Specialita and it's OK, but if I had the knowledge that I have now when I bought my first grinder, I'd buy DF64. Now I'm eyeing a DF83V as an upgrade, but I'm currently out of money... The things that piss me off the most are: \- Freaking small adjustment wheel. You only touch it and the grind size difference is huge. (can be modded if you have 3d printer) \- Has dumb burr size. They have their specific diameter and specific hole spacing so you can't buy different burrs then form Eureka. \- Struggles with lighter roasts (my burrs are almost touching almost every time I try to dial in any light roast) \- kinda high retention if you don't tilt your grinder with 3d printed base and don't slap it few times after grinding.
If you can afford it, the DF83V is a beast! Also, the MHW 3-Bomber F74 Navigator would be in you budget and punches above its weight imo, almost on par with a Mazzer Philos for over 1k.
the DF83V from MiiCoffee is kinda where you want to be at if i’m being honest
***DF83V - £699*** (with 10% discount) It's the bang for buck champ at end-game level specs/ features. Has all you need + scope for burr upgrades (which I did, to SSP MP after 6 months). The only significant feature it doesn't have is blind burrs (but they're less impactful with larger burrs). Year and a half later and I have zero upgrade itch.
DF 83v out of those
DF83V. Much better than Timemore and you can try different burrs. Awesome grinder, best to order from Coffee Friends, they currently have the second model in stock. Old motor and everything else like version 2. Awesome grinder, I've had it for 3 weeks.
https://youtu.be/J88SAecX9vM?si=QJUO9e-pEsQpoSwL I always like this video for this question. Just look at the time stamps in the description and check out all A and higher grinders there are options for different budgets. I would probably go for a df83v because it’s capabilities for it’s price point.

My own experience: wilfa svart to DF83V + pourover burrs. The difference is there, but it's not night and day. I've also compared to zp6 and k-ultra. I still prefer df83v for clarity, but all of them are much closer than I would've expected. Since 250 is just slightly above wilfa, I personally wouldn't even bother.
