It is indeed a very nice grinder. It's a bit slow though

I second this comment and perspective. I have (1) a Wilfa Uniform with SSP 'brew' burrs (£200 + £150 for the burrs); (2) an EK43s with SSP 'brew' burrs and augmented by lots of micromechanical adjustment and precision measurement (£2500 + 500 + 400 for tools and instruments); (3) a 1Zpresso ZP6 hand grinder (£200). The EK43 is definitely the best... but it's nowhere near 10x the quality in the cup of the ZP6, which is much less maintenance and long term hassle, and can go with me on holiday. The ZP6 honestly gets to perhaps 90% of the quality of the EK43, if not the ease of just flipping a switch. And the ZP6 I feel somewhat betters the Wilfa Uniform (it was no slouch though!) In short, for a single grinder that won't go wrong, and offers bang for buck and can go with you on trips, get a *good* hand grinder. For deeper pockets, or sheer convenience, go for electric. But the same money gets you a better hand grinder than electric, up to where sensible hand grinders top out (about £250) and quite far beyond (probably to around £600). Hope this helps!

Haha - I had the Hario Slim and it was a nightmare to grind a sensible amount of coffee. But my ZP6 is actually not that much slower than my Wilfa Uniform, and quite cathartic at that.

I have the uniform and was extremely happy with it - rarely used now as I’ve gone to the espresso world

Why is that? I've had the uniform and now the uniform Evo. Great grinders. How is the fellow better?

Would recommend the Wilfa Uniform. Great for single dosing larger amounts and great for drip.

Sounds like my experience too! Had an Ode 2 and didn’t love it. Now have an a4z for single dose and a Wolf’s Uniform if I ever want batch

I've been using the Wilfa Uniform for a few years now, fantastic grinder, doesn't _quite_ have the control for espresso but great for everything else. And hell, it'll do you an espresso grind, you just won't be able to make micro-adjustments.

This morning I woke up to the Wilfa WGCS-2 that I bought back 5 years ago as a student had stopped working on me. Now I'm faced with the choice of what to buy next and these are the options that I'm considering. I mostly brew pourovers but the occasional French presses and batch brews as well. My priorities are with a neat and relatively small grinder as I have a tiny kitchen and very limited counter space. I have had hand grinders in the past and have zero interest in one now. A Wilfa Uniform, for 250€ (shipped). I think this is the upper limit on what I'd be willing to pay. I'm questioning if the coffee will be that much better? It's of course cheaper than it was at launch pre-pandemic, and not the new Uniform Evo. It seems like most complaints I see are on build quality (at a 350€ launch price point) or the scale that's not included with mine. Fellow Opus, for 185€ - I like the look and size, people say good things about the coffee but complain about the workflow. I don't mind if it's plasticky, but will it get grinds all over my kitchen? Wilfa Aroma Svart for 150€. A minor upgrade on my old grinder, as they use the same burrs but a different motor. On the list but not something that exites me. Baratza Encore for 140€ (ESP for 170€). I find it a little ugly, and I'm not sure what, if any is the benefit of the ESP for my use cases. Am I missing any obvious options? Anything else I should consider to help make the right choice?
