I splurged on a Wilfa Uniform+ and absolutely love it. I didn't realize how quiet it was until I was at my partner's house and nearly jumped out of my skin when he used his grinder! the top has scales built in (one less thing on the counter), grind size range is impressive and has great consistency, and it's super easy to clean. IME hand grinders take too much effort (physical and time), it was worth the cost to get a quality burr grinder and enjoy more coffee!

It is indeed a very nice grinder. It's a bit slow though

I second this comment and perspective. I have (1) a Wilfa Uniform with SSP 'brew' burrs (£200 + £150 for the burrs); (2) an EK43s with SSP 'brew' burrs and augmented by lots of micromechanical adjustment and precision measurement (£2500 + 500 + 400 for tools and instruments); (3) a 1Zpresso ZP6 hand grinder (£200). The EK43 is definitely the best... but it's nowhere near 10x the quality in the cup of the ZP6, which is much less maintenance and long term hassle, and can go with me on holiday. The ZP6 honestly gets to perhaps 90% of the quality of the EK43, if not the ease of just flipping a switch. And the ZP6 I feel somewhat betters the Wilfa Uniform (it was no slouch though!) In short, for a single grinder that won't go wrong, and offers bang for buck and can go with you on trips, get a *good* hand grinder. For deeper pockets, or sheer convenience, go for electric. But the same money gets you a better hand grinder than electric, up to where sensible hand grinders top out (about £250) and quite far beyond (probably to around £600). Hope this helps!

Haha - I had the Hario Slim and it was a nightmare to grind a sensible amount of coffee. But my ZP6 is actually not that much slower than my Wilfa Uniform, and quite cathartic at that.

Would recommend the Wilfa Uniform. Great for single dosing larger amounts and great for drip.

I've been using the Wilfa Uniform for a few years now, fantastic grinder, doesn't _quite_ have the control for espresso but great for everything else. And hell, it'll do you an espresso grind, you just won't be able to make micro-adjustments.

Wilfa Uniform will grind untill it senses there is nothing left. Ideal for everything apart from espresso (but it's fine for my 9Barista ) and flat burrs. Posh version comes with scales and a recipe app. and it's not horribly noisy.

Wilfa - price has gone up in past few years and it doesn't seem to be reviewed recently but James Hoffmann did a review a few years ago and rated it as a good solid entry grinder.

I’ve got one and am very happy with it. The wilfa Can’t do espresso grind but that’s a whole different level of control and equipment I suppose.

It’s also quite small compared to other grinders
