You are in a weird place with "way to expensive for medium grinder" but "not enough money for end-game". Wilfa make amazing pour over grinders. Fuji R220 as well. Anything flat burrs and larger size (up to 98mm) will give you good coffee. The bigger size - the better coffee. Try to get 2nd hand EK43 with good burrs, probably your best bet
Wilfa Precision is good next step. There is a new Wilfa just out as well with even better burrs.
I have Wilfa uniform 2.0 which is a beauty. No belt , no static and thread is made of copper.
Had a Sage (Breville) Precision Brewer paired with a Wilfa Uniform for 2 years. It made good coffee and had enough customization to enable you to dial stuff in, but in my experience, the lid design on the carafe is absolutely atrocious and you cannot fully drain it, leading to coffee crust and mold getting stuck in it and pouring away into your cup, leading to (obviously) foul tasting coffee. On top of that, the grinder's tread got seized so I sent them both back as they were still under warranty and upgraded to a Fellow Ode Gen 2 + Fellow Aiden, and the difference is night and day, they really do feel a decade apart. The recipes on the Aiden enable you to taste coffee as the roaster intended (for roasters that do provide shareable Aiden recipes) and the overall recipe customization is just more fine grained. Can't really speak for reliability as it's mostly plastic, but the cups coming out of it have so far been superb. If, however, you find all the customization tiresome and just want to hit a button and get coffee, I got my parents a Moccamaster and they've been delighted since, it's built like a truck where it matters, so you really can't go wrong with that.
I started with a Wilfa svart uniform for filter, but for travelling etc. I got a KinGrinder K6. Now even when I'm at home i sometimes switch between either one depending whether I want to grind for filter, french press, aero press or rapid brewer
I have the uniform and was extremely happy with it - rarely used now as I’ve gone to the espresso world
Why is that? I've had the uniform and now the uniform Evo. Great grinders. How is the fellow better?
Would recommend the Wilfa Uniform. Great for single dosing larger amounts and great for drip.
You want a really nice grinder (used fellow ode or wilfa uniform from ebay is a great option), then you get away with a cheapish brewer like an aeropress or mochamaster. You'll also need a 100 mg balance from Amazon.
Wilfa Uniform on miellyttävä käyttää. Kovin kompakti se ei ole, mutta muotoilultaan siisti eikä vaivaa silmää keittiössä. Käsimylly toimii mökillä parille kupille suodatinkahvia, espressojauhatusta en sillä jaksaisi jauhaa.
I've been using the Wilfa Uniform for a few years now, fantastic grinder, doesn't _quite_ have the control for espresso but great for everything else. And hell, it'll do you an espresso grind, you just won't be able to make micro-adjustments.
