You are going to spend either 565 or 100? It seems like a very broad range. I owned a Capresso 99 dollar grinder (infinity??) for a few years. It was my first electric grinder, and before I went all in. Depending on where you are in your journey and how you approach hobbies, the 99 dollar one could be a fine place to start. If you love the hobby, you will end up buying something else. There is no buy once, cry once in the consumer space. Even nice shit doesn’t last.

Yeah I have had one for several years that was already secondhand and it’s been great. I always recommend getting kitchen gadgets secondhand. Can usually get them for quite cheap. I got my Moccamaster for $75. The grinder was maybe $40.

I used the capresso infinity as my first burr grinder and it’s ok, but I think you’d want to upgrade again sooner than you’d wish. If I had to do it over again I would rather have gotten a $100 hand grinder that I would’ve probably kept all these years instead of the capresso that I quickly wanted to upgrade from.

cosigned, it's got a much more pleasant sound than other grinders. not quieter, necessarily, but more pleasant.

Idk about other Capresso models but the Infinity has a slower gearbox which heats up the coffee less **and improves the sound signature significantly**

I personally really like my Capresso Infinity that I've used for years. I'll probably get downvoted but you can also find threads where people prefer it over the Baratza. Personally have never felt the need to spend on a better grinder. I make French Press, pour over and cold brew - never a problem extracting good tasting coffee.

I've had good results with my capresso infinity, a burr grinder in the ~$100 range. Bought it used for even less, was sold as not working but it was just clogged with coffee dust.

I had the infinity for many years and have since gifted it. Still going, 15 years later. I'm a hand grinder, but would recommend it. I might also see if you could get a new or refurbed baratza encore for around the same price. I'd probably go that route between the two, if the price was close.

I was given a Capresso Infinity grinder and love it! It’s not one I see mentioned often, but I really can’t fault it for drip coffee.
