I know Apollo City has been getting a lot of bad rap lately due to the stem issues, but I talked to them about it and they've indicated that all their stems have been thickened. And as far as they've seen so far, none of the new stems have broken. I used to have a City and it was a great scooter to ride on for myself. Quite decent speed and range., good suspension, all around solid. Slightly higher than your budget at $1199 [https://apolloscooters.co/products/apollo-city-24](https://apolloscooters.co/products/apollo-city-24)
The stem issues on the Apollo City Pro were limited to certain serial numbers. They recalled all of them. I have >1500 miles on mine and no sight of stem issues. Stay vigilant, obviously, but the risk vs other scooters is fairly overblown. I too would wait for the Go Stellar if you have the option. It is basically a lighter City Pro, as opposed to the new City 2.0. 75 pounds is a lot of scooter, tbh. The City Pro is hefty at 65.
People on this forum absolutely despise Apollo for a whole host of reasons - the biggest being they advertise to "normies," they were very expensive for the specs on release, and *then* they had QC issues. Every mid-tier scooter - the Segway GT2, the EMove Cruiser, Niu's KQi3 Max etc have all reported stem issues. It makes sense that they have them; novice riders tug on the handlebars, and the growth in power of motors has outpaced the growth in strength of materials on the frame. If you're only paying for the increase power without the increase in stability to keep costs under 2k, this is what you get.
How about the Apollo City on sale for $1099 right now, gets up to 32 mph with a range of about 22 miles. It is IP66 rated so you can ride it in the rain no problem. I'm not sure if this review is the previous iteration of the scooter or the current one: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbBATuFPQB8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbBATuFPQB8) Another option is the Solar P1 3.0. Goes up to 41.4 mph as tested by ESG with 27.7 mile range: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqLGj5vnDUc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqLGj5vnDUc) It's currently 20% off, $1040, although that doesn't include the tron lights. But I don't think the tron lights are worth it especially for this scooter. The seat is probably worth it though, at $60. It's only IP64 rated, so it's not sufficient for rain riding. I'd just ride the Inmotion when it rains, and ride the Solar on sunny days. Otherwise keep saving up more and get like the $2k-3k range scooters, Apollo Phantom/Stellar, GSPACE GTR/ECO, Segway GT3 Pro, or Solar Hyperion RST. Having typed that, I think the latter options may be too big for you, not sure what you mean when you say you need it to fold. Apollo Phantom is 102 lbs, and Phantom Stellar is 109 lbs. Hyperion is the most manageable of the bunch at 110 lbs.
Dont even bother with the Segway if the Apollo city will suit your needs. Apollo city is extremely water resistant to where you have nothing to worry about getting caught in rain or going through puddles. The Segway is nice but id prefer the water resistance rating over the gt1
Id go 50km/h over that shit road on my Apollo City Pro 2022
Look at ninebot g30s. I have beaten the absolute shiiit out of mine and it Is still going very strong. It's actually significantly more durable than my $1.8k Apollo city pro. Just no where near as fun
Ya, I had one for a couple months but end up selling it and using that money to get an Apollo City Pro. But now I’m looking for something that can keep up with traffic. If I didn’t want a higher top speed I probably would have kept my Apollo Go
I’ve had so far the NIU KQI3 Pro, Emove Cruiser, Apollo Go and Apollo City Pro. I’m looking for something to keep up with traffic. It does seem like Nami is the most recommended brand by anyone.
I’ve had the Apollo Go and Apollo City Pro and absolutely loved those scooters, I’ve rode some mantis’ but they always seemed to be lower build quality to me
I had an OG apollo city and then went to a 2024 city pro. huge difference and it's been amazing so far. had one instance of controller and motor overheat but I think that was an extended ride on a very hot day. hasn't come back since. I ride all weather. (snow is fun! it's actually quite stable) Got my $1 down for the new city stellar. I wish more companies would post acceleration times at different rider weights. any hill climb data at different rider weights. I live at the top of the hill so coming home is always full throttle up the hill on less battery. I like what Apollo is doing with their new controller, they're really really protecting the battery depending on the ride style.
