1. Overpriced to a degree. Look at their accessories one time, then you’ll see shit like a $150 pump that looks nigh identical to the ones you’ll see on Ali or Amazon for $20, just with Apollo’s name on it. Hell, they even have a damn LUDO mode I heard they wanted you to pay for and even still have a paywall. Last time I checked, I’m a car-free scooter commuter and I don’t need my mode of transport to treat me like it’s me playing Destiny all over again. 2. I’ve seen many brands of scooters have catastrophic failures, including the big names like Segway, Nami, Kaabo, and others. However, most of the time when I see a scooter that has a failure that lead to injury, it seems to mostly be Apollo. 3. Their CTO, Eloi, had made an account here and basically acted like just an average person, shitting on a whole lot of other brands like Nami and Segway while promoting Apollo while sounding just like a happy customer. In contrast, he very often made comments that sounded like it had content only Apollo employees would know and before he hid his name, his name was “Eloi Apollo”. Didn’t take too much digging to find out he was a big dog in the company sneak dissing the other scooter brands out there. Made me lose a massive amount of respect for the brand if someone, not even just a little employee, but their **CTO** was willing to do something that feels a little shady to me. 4. They do have their own lawsuits from injury. Rojas v. Apollo Scooters, Vandall v. Apollo Scooters, and Pinckernell, Cale v. Apollo Imports Inc. to name a few. There are likely more and I remember seeing more in the past, but I’m too tired to go on a quest. Anyways, seeing their lawsuits for injuries from potential failures from their scooters doesn’t make me too secure given their aforementioned track record here. 5. Personal testimony from those who I know and someone who often works on scooters. A family friend of mine has a Nami Burn E2 Max and an Apollo Pro, stating that the Apollo Pro is heavily lackluster compared to the Nami. Kind of related to the next thing. 6. Price for performance. Yeah, sure, I’m not a big fan of people who think the cheapest scooter doing 60mph is what people should strive for, but when you’re asking things like $3,000 for something that is similar to my Eagle One in most areas when my EO was nearly half the price. Feels like for their prices, you can still get a solid scooter that can still do a lot of things Apollo’s can do with a cheaper price tag but still from decent companies like Segway or NIU, or their more expensive models being way below things like the Inmotion RS/Lite, the Burn Es, Wolf Kings, etc. Yes, I am aware that they are mostly scooters for commuters that don’t want to do much maintenance and want easier use than performance, but this is a common complaint about them. 7. Shills. Like every company, they have many reviews on YT that are *made* to talk about them well. Any flaws they have are either heavily sugar coated or completely ignored all for the person to make money off affiliate links and sponsorship from the company. I never take these reviews seriously unless they are high mileage (I’d say 3,000/5,000 miles minimum to be honest, as well as those miles being daily riding) with some wear on the scooter. I feel like Apollo, knowing their reputation, really takes care of shills to appear better to those who don’t dig that much. If I can say they do something right, I do honestly believe their regen braking is their strongest feat and their scooters look decent in style. Maybe the fact they have maintenance tutorials as well, but that’s about it. I’ve seen people go “I’ve ridden this Apollo scooter for X long and had (enter genuinely concerning issue that could end horribly) happen, but it was covered by warranty so it’s fine that it happened” kind of things, but if you gotta say things like that it feels like when I hear relationship advice that’s like “my girlfriend is great, but she stole my phone and smashed it when I was talking to my sister thinking I was cheating, but she said sorry so nothing here is wrong” kind of thing. If my own scooters had a crack somewhere from a defect, I’m tossing the scooter and never trusting the brand myself.

How much do you weigh? That will be a big factor as well. However, I would go with something that is dual motor, which would be the Apollos. I live in Seoul and the city is full of hills. I got a decent dual motor scooter here locally and it handles most hills like a champ. I ride it in single motor mode majority of the time and only engage dual motor when I need to.

I loved my Apollo Pro, it was way more stable and safer feeling to ride than my new Hiboy S2. Excellent lighting and braking, usually cruising at 45mph. Soon I’ll be replacing it with the Apollo Phantom Stellar.
