The price went up for US store, and they also finally release their TK3 model.
r/RochesterUser Alright, I'm gonna weigh in a tad on this one. I've had the GT SE since 2020 and I'm not going to lie I've been tough on the thing on and off. So if you're looking for durability you're getting a mixed bag more or less but you're definitely making up for it with repairability. The quoted speeds are accurate, and as long as you don't have any major motor function problems you will be able to steer just fine at any speed it's capable of. The reason I say a mixed bag for durability is not because it's built bad, I've actually yet to have a major structural issue involving the frame aside from the drum brake (more on that in a bit.) But there's been batch problems before. I hear they're mostly resolved however. The suspension is present and if you're relatively lightweight it actually helps a lot. If you're of average to heavier set you're still going to be able to ride it but the suspension will barely be noticeable. Replacing the solid tires is a pain but once you get the technique down you'll be alright. If you don't care about the Bluetooth features (The few that exist, then just get the Booster as the GT SE is just Booster + Bluetooth.) Don't get the sling, it works and it's light but the sling's seams don't hold up long. You might as well just stick to the carrying handle. The tires are on the thinner side so sharp turns are easier once you get used to them. Like I said prior though, what you lack in any regard you're also getting back in repairability. The GT series scooters by E-Twow has parts availability galore and that's even here in the US where currently parts availability for most things is iffy at best in waves. (Save me please.) But should ANYTHING break eventually or wear down, etc. you shouldn't have any problem getting a replacement part and replacing it. My drum brake, which performed extremely well, broke after about 5 years of having the scooter. Admittedly, it was at the very least partially due to a lack of maintenance since I hardly used the damn thing considering the electronic break works fine for me as a cautious rider with decent balance. All-in-all it's a great scooter that I don't see myself getting rid of anytime soon. I have a TankTorq TK5 actually that also loves up to it's claims (48km/h is so fun and the suspension is dream-like) but I've biffed a crucial part in the stem assembly so I'm currently waiting on a custom modeled and milled part to deliver since the TankTorq series has next to no parts availability. Lucky I've got my trusty GT on the side for commute!
Test it in person. I have friend who is 5'1" 90lbs ... and a 40lbs scooter is too much for the her. She ended up picking up a NIU KQi2 which was just a hair over 40lbs. Her bf picked up the ETWOW GT (specifically the fluidfreeride version) - and that was much more manageable in weight and size for her. She was more easily able to take it up her porch steps leading into her apartment as its both more compact (less unweildy) and way lighter. But its significantly less of a real scooter. They both hated it, especially handlebar ergonomics (they're short). I also have the ETWOW GT and a NIU KQI 100p (last year's FOTM budget scooter). And they are worlds apart in ease of carry. But the ETWOW GT Sport is.... full of compromises. It needs to be tested. If you need to haul it and lift it - reconsider or test carrying a scooter of that weight up and down your area. Its painful to swing it around - having it bang against the side of your body. And at nearly half your body weight - difficult to balance and maneuver. If its too much you'll end up using it less than you want. If its something you can roll straight out of your garage and never fold it - grab whatever you need. Also keep in mind that lighter scooters are easier to maneuver - you can lift the back or front end and turn it. While heavier scooters, you may see yourself doing K turns/multi point turns (off the scooter) just to turn it around.
It might not suit your joints, but I'm a fan of the e-Twow dual GT. It's 16kg, 1400W, 40km/h. When standing in a dynamic position its meagre suspension is enough but for wet cobblestone.
Just went back from Annecy where I rode it around the lake. Sure, it's sporty, but it can take a 20 miles ride in a breeze if you're willing to go for it. Now sitting in Paris, 8km to go, charged it in the train.
Look into etwow gt2 . Fast and light. Only downside is smaller wheels.
I used to have a WEPED Mini R and that was fun, but my e-twow booster gt was actually the best for the city, top speed of a bit over 20mph, solid tires, a bit of suspension, and under 30lbs, folds up nice for the subway too. I was able to go 14miles flat out, with a total weight of me and backpack of like 250lbs, this is more than enough to get across the city and back. I promise it's much easier to carry around and deal with than every other scooter suggested here, and any other ones I know of. I even have the backpack one, it's not that great. e-twow booster gt.
The e-twow booster gt is about the most solid scooter that is out there. It's been iterated on for over a decade at this point, is very quick and is easier to carry than anything else out there.
It weighs under 30 lbs It can go over 20mph, even if you weigh over 200lba It folds and unfolds securely without having to bend over. It has a huge foot bed It requires no maintenance other than tires (over 5k miles) The motor is on the front and it this has excellent e braking, so you don't need the rear brake. It also has solid tires and works without an app, which OP requested. It was far more reliable than my weped mini r and is a better design than my dualtron raptor, especially for folding. $/Watt is not a great measure of the quality or deal you're getting
I put over 6,000 miles on one and it required tires, and that is all. I rode it 12 miles to and from work (24 total) every single day for a year. Nor are they sketchy to ride. OP does need to learn maintenance, but first they need to learn how to ride, they're clearly leaning on the handlebars.
I had to add lubricant to the springs once or twice. I did have to get a motor and new suspension covers after a wreck (one of the hall sensors broke), but that was the only thing. I sold it after moving somewhere I didn't use it much but honestly I think I'm gonna get another one. The 48V makes it significantly peppier than any 36V scooter and lets you get up to speed nicely. It's got a much smoother controller than my dualtron or weped did. And cruising at 20mph is nice. I wish it had other throttle options, I like atv style, but that's minor compared to how well built it is.
Etwow gts/x all the way. Put 6k km on aprevious model the 36v one, without ever having to do any maintenance. Yes that’s right not even having to tighten screws. Fabulous realiability. Onto the 48v samsung battery one nowadays, 40 km range with speed cap at 25. These boys are tank like built. Expensive but yiu get your money’s worth !
I'm getting old. My next scooter, I'm getting some kind of suspension. But I can't comfortably carry anything heavier than 50lbs. Regardless of price, which of the models out there on the market have the best ride quality for people my size? I'm 140 lbs.
Have you ridden one? Your Namis have a great rep for ride quality. Just a bit too heavy for me. Is the 300x comparable for ride comfort?
I've got one! I love it. But it's more of a sports car than a luxury sedan. Rattles, bugs in the teeth, shoots up any hill. Fun but not great for long rides.
I'm kinda looking for recommendations by folks who've ridden them, and so can attest to the ride feel. Have you ridden other Vmax's with similar suspension?
