Eyy, gotrax g4 owner here. Around 500miles, out side checking tires and couple brake adjustments, nothing major. Owned since sept 23

I’ve never had any issue, it’s just being over cautious for me. If I let it sit for a while I double check but if it’s multiple times a week for a trip I should be alright

Yeah Gotrax gets clowned a lot, but the newer G4 versions are actually a decent step up. Some of the G4 models have suspension now, and it makes a huge difference on rough streets compared to the older rigid ones. Range has also been better for me than most "budget" scooters, still not the advertised number, but it doesn't fall on its face as fast. And honestly the big win is support/parts. Gotrax isn't perfect, but at least you can usually get a response and actually buy replacement parts instead of treating it like a disposable scooter. Which G4 version do you have, does yours have suspension or is it the older solid setup?

Lmao the "car for the price of a used microwave" line got me because it's so true. My first scooter was basically that Dollar Tree lawn chair situation too, fun for like a week and then it started making sounds like it was coming apart mid-ride. Also 100% agree the support/parts thing is what people ignore until it's too late. I like the G4, how's your G4 been holding up long-term? Any stuff you've had to replace yet or has it been pretty trouble-free?

Appreciate this, because Gotrax was one of the brands I kept seeing and then immediately seeing people dunk on it lol. That's really good to know about the newer G4s though - suspension is one of the big things I'm trying to prioritize since it's mostly suburban roads with some rough sidewalks, not like a perfectly smooth bike path.

Yeah for real, Gotrax gets treated like it personally stole everyone's lunch money. Some of it is deserved, but a lot of it is just people expecting a 250 dollar scooter to survive daily commuting, rain, curb drops, and zero maintenance. And 100 percent on tires. A lot of folks fixate on motor watts and ignore that solid tires on rough sidewalks feel like riding a shopping cart down a gravel road. Air tires plus any kind of suspension is the combo that makes it actually enjoyable.

Yeah, with NIU it was mostly the "getting a real answer" part. I had a small question/issue and it turned into slow email back-and-forth and canned replies. Gotrax got back to me quicker and was more direct, so it was just less annoying. Comfort on the G4 is fine on normal streets, but rough pavement will rattle you since there's no suspension (I got the cheap version). One of their G4 model has a suspension.

I have a garage full of scooters including NIU and SEGWAY, i used to have a G4 from gotrax but it was $500 when i got it. Most of the brands are the same so just check warranty length and reviews but as it stands that price for the specs on g3 max might be the best available and thats a lot considering all the brands have their blackfriday deals

Thats pretty light - you can use just about anything with a 350W + motor Probably your best deals are segway F series or Gotrax G Series

Yeah, you're spot on about their support. I've got one of their cheaper models just a GOTRAX G4, nothing special and honestly, they've come through for me every time something's gone wrong. It wasn't always lightning-fast, but they actually got back to me, shipped out parts, and didn't make me jump through a bunch of hoops !!!

To be real... a lot of these cheap scooters are basically "car for the price of a used microwave" energy. My first one was that Dollar Tree lawn chair on wheels situation, super fun for like a week, then every ride sounded like it was slowly tearing itself apart. The bigest things people sleep on is support and parts. If the brand is just some random Amazon name with no real website, no US presence, no way to buy a new tire / brake / throttle, you're not buying a scooter, you're buying a disposable toy, imo. My gotrax g4 isn't perfect, but they're kind of the exception to my rant because at least they exist as a real company. My G4 has been solid for what it is, and when little stuff loosened up or wore out, I could actually get replacement parts instead of praying to the Amazon seller. For light neighborhood rides a few times a week, I'd way rather spend in that $300-$450 range on a G4 or something similar from a real brand...

hahaha yeah once you hear that first new rattle you start doing the mental math like ok cool so this is how i die. My g4 has been pretty solid long term honestly. nothing catastrophic. The main stuff has been normal wear and laziness prevention. i had to tighten things up after the first couple weeks because the vibration will loosen random bolts if you ignore it. I also swapped the rear tire once. To me, the biggest thing I tell people is keep the tires at the right psi and dont pretend youre a bmx rider hopping curbs.

Yeah that's the part people miss. gotrax isnt some magical flawless brand, but theyre not a random alphabet soup scooter either. Being able to actually buy a throttle, tire, brake parts, whatever, is the difference between "annoying weekend fix" and "welp guess i own a 60 lb paperweight now." Mine is the older rigid setup, no suspension. You definitely feel it on busted pavement, but if I keep my tire pressure where it should be and dont hammer potholes like I'm testing military armor, it's totally manageable. if i was buying again and the suspension version is priced close, id probably go that route just for comfort and less shaking stuff loose over time. and yeah range wise, same story. the real world number is always lower than the box, but the G4 at least doesn't do that thing where it goes from 4 bars to 1 bar in like 10 minutes and starts crawling. it stays pretty consistent until the last chunk, then it reminds you its a scooter, not a tesla.
