If you’re worried about the DX5 mainly because of shipping, most of those issues came from third-party sellers, not the scooter itself. Buying direct or from an authorized seller avoids almost all of that. For under $800, the iScooter DX5 actually fits your needs well. Tubeless tires are a big win for rough roads, the off-road setup handles bad pavement better than basic commuters, and it’s a clear step up from something like the Invanti e30.
Was actually cheaper when I ordered it off the iScooter site than Amazon.
Got the dx5! Such a fun and fast scooter. Handles smooth too...the weight of it helps it with cornering. Will tweak and dial in everything as well over the weekend....Hit 30mph on this as well. https://preview.redd.it/l97vp73gxkgg1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4879230fe6a420a00eaab632bcfe058c369f6b64

For me I like having a seat and being able to go up hills in my town is a must. Would also suggest pucture proof or tubeless tires so you don't have to worry about replacing them. My current machine is an iScooter dx5 which is built more like a minibike, and that syle is nice because it also has multiple points to secure the frame with a u-lock to older bike racks. Something like the one pictured might also be benefical for you if your not familiar with balancing on them yet. Also is something like 300 usd from walmart, the ASKGO k11. Would also suggest getting mirrors for this particular style as well as a secondary set of lights (never hurts to have a back up) and a full face helmet since it says it can hit 25mph.
Just got an iScooter DX5 for about 760/780 after taxes. Came with tubeless tires, and has a built in alarm system, not to mention multiple points to secure it to a bike rack. It is a heavy one though, about 100lbs, but that also helps it in regards to handling and turns. Avoid Caromas, they rarely have replacement parts. https://preview.redd.it/mjmxew8eusgg1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76e2c6498e4a77e9655a9c9b380607ab3b456c00
Just got the Dx5. not sure of your budget but with shipping its about 740 here in the US. Top speed of 35mph, blinkers mirrors, and built in anti theft. Its also about 100lbs so its a heavy bastich. Best part though is no app requirement and tubeless tires! https://preview.redd.it/8uqxofoxgmgg1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4c4aae62745f5c505b086287cbb97569e2ca325 Whatever you do get I highly recommend going for puncture resistant/proof tires.
been riding escooters for couple years now and that F25 is solid choice so you already know what works from your list the D28E would be my pick - has front suspension which will help a lot in village roads. the Xiaomi models are reliable but no suspension so might be rough ride on uneven surfaces segway generally better build quality than iScooter models in my experience. also check what kind of terrain your brother will ride most - if its really rough roads might want to look at models with pneumatic tires instead of solid ones one thing to consider is service availability in his area since some brands harder to get parts for
Do ***not*** buy anything iScooter. Quality-wise we know them as the scrapings from the bottom of the barrel, and their support is known to be terrible to nonexistent. Hiboy are *somewhat* better but their low-end scooters are uncomfortable and not very safe, as they all have solid tires but no suspension on the front fork; they only start being OK above your budget. On a side note, none of these are *manufacturers* - they all import generic scooters from relatively unknown Chinese manufacturers. Only Ninebot/Segway, Niu, Brightway/Navee and a few others make their own scooters. As for suggestions: more info please. In particular, you don't specify a range - we don't know how long the trip to school is. If it's short enough - and keep in mind [the marketing lie factor](https://reddit.com/r/ElectricScooters/wiki/rangespecs) - then a Niu KQi1 or KQi 100 could be a good idea. Whatever you get, keep in mind that the tires must be pumped up to specced pressure more often than many people think - ideally weekly. A cheap bicycle pump *with a manometer* works well for this, otherwise they sell electric inflators that are more practical.
$300 wont buy even a decent scooter, must less a good one. If that is the price point you are working with, I would recommend checking the used market. I have ridden Gotrax, iScooter, Segway and eMove scooters, among others. Gotrax was complete garbage, the iScooter was decent, the Segway was built like a tank. I have mixed feelings about eMove Cruisers, which is my current ride. On the one hand the suspension is phenomenal, as is the range. But the tires, brakes and other bits haven’t lasted very long. I don’t have a ton of miles on mine, I right now need to replace both tires, possibly the brake calipers and one of the brake lines snapped for no apparent reason.
