I really like Kaabo. Had mine for 3 years now. No issues, got the Mantis King and my partner has the Mantis 10.

I don't know if this will help you but I've got a kaabo mantis king GT and my partner has a mantis 10. We love them and they're super compact. Fits easily in elavators, trunks, etc. Her mantis 10 is really nimble compared to the GT and we got both for about 2500 USD. 65kmh max speed, 60 km range.

I got a Kaaba mantis 10 for $300 on Facebook marketplace, although in full transparency half the lights weren’t working and there was a slight issue with adjusting one of the brakes. After doing the maintenance, took two hours at max to do. I just got a great deal on a $1500 scooter

Kaabo is a very solid brand and should get more credit. I have a Mantis 10 with over 3800 miles on it and it was very easy to get replacement parts when needed. I have contacted them 3 or 4 times now and they were able to help me each time. I have ridden mine in heavy rain over a dozen times and the worst that has happened is the front light stayed on and I just unplugged it and dried off the contacts and it went back to normal. I never hesitate to ride it in the rain or snow and even upon opening it up, the worst that happened was there was a little build up of some water residue but not on anything important. Just make sure you use WD-40 or silicone to protect other parts from water. For salt in the winter, I use vinegar to clean everything.

Can confirm. I crashed my mantis many times and it never broke. Learned all my lessons on that before getting the King GTR which has also held up perfectly. (No crashes)

i’ve had two: kaabo mantis and splach turbo. i would recommend NOT buying off amazon. do your research there if you want, but then go directly to the manufacture site and buy from them. first of all amazon is evil, but second of all, sometimes their second party seller shit is sketchy. you’ll always get more straight forward sales help from the manufacture site. -consider if you’ll be in easy bike lanes most of the time or if your streets are a little rougher (this will help you choose the type of tire and suspension and brakes you need) -consider how long you wanna be able to go without a charge (size of battery you’ll need) -consider if you are gonna have to fold it and pick it up to walk up stairs or carry on public transit (if so, i don’t recommend one that’s over 40 or 50lb… you may think that’s just a dumbbell amount of weight but it’s awkward and annoying and wears you down quick) -consider if you want tube tires, pneumatic tires, or solid tires (google the differences - there have been other posts about this as well) -i also recommend one where the handlebars fold down if you’re gonna be taking it on public transpo -lastly…. consider how much fun you wanna have. cuz tbh my mantis could go up to 40mph and i averaged usually about 30-32 bc that’s where i felt safe in the city but goddamn that shit was fun… my splach averages at 22 and that’s safe and fine and still fast, don’t get me wrong…. but i do miss the thrill) OH AND GET THE WARRANTY - it literally saved my ass with my mantis when something in the steer shaft was buggin and basically got all my money back and got to keep the scooter. hope this helps

What I learned with my two boys using an eScooter for all 4 years of high school (neither one ended up driving a car). We also live on steep hills and the oldest one was about 240lbs in his last year. Dual Motor is the only way to go and they we're using the Kaabo Mantis, which I would not recommend as a daily commuter. The issue is maintenance and uptime. Rain, Flat Tires, electrical issues. To long to go into detail. My recommendation is Hiley Mobility EVO GTR. My boys are now military and this is the direction we went due to it's IPX6 water rating for them to move around on and off base. Also, it's a tubeless split rim where the motor has a quick disconnect so it makes tire repair work so much easier compared to having to dangle the tire off the scooter. Plus Hiley's Electronic has a very smooth ramp up, where as the Kaabo if you go wide open throttle, it will take off on you. If your son is carrying gear, this would not be good. Other things to keep in mind is stem wobble, so far my boys experience much less compared to their Kaabo and it folds down much quicker. But any high speed scooter and Hiley as well, is pick up and install the steering damper, it helps if they hit a pot hole.
