"You can't make a reliable and durable scooter for very little money. Kukirin is a good example. They skimp on quality and reliability, not on marketing. ... They guarantee Kukirin for half or a quarter as long. ... You don't have to keep it alive with constant repairs."

"Our stance about those tends to be that they might be decent value for money, but only on the condition that the user can do maintenance and fixes. ... others don't get it at all and then complain that their Kukirin has a bolt loose and they don't know how to screw it back in. ... We don't have a problem with people who understand this part of the bargain - I should know, as I'm one of them - we're just pissed at those who buy with no understanding of anything and often without having done a whit of research, then come here to complain that their parts-bin scooter needs some basic repair they don't know how to perform."

G2 pro is garbage, get the regular G2. It's a little cheaper, and way better all around. If you could spend just a little more, the Segway F3 is a much much better option though

Because the regular G2 is cheaper, has bigger tires, has a higher quality controller, has more power, a much more durable frame, and is only 3kg heavier (Kukirin's listed weight is not accurate),

I’m waiting for him to come in and say Boyueda S5 or Arwibon GT08, you know who I’m talking about. But for my own personal opinion, I think a really fun model that would appeal to a younger rider is the [Kukirin G2](https://www.kugoousa.com/products/kukirin-g2-electric-scooter). People usually recommend Segways or Niu commuter scooters for younger riders but this one is a bit faster and has a sportier look with a tad more performance than the rest of the options.

Anything name brand under $500 will basically be a commuter scooter with no suspension, Kukirin really is the only recognizable entry level scooters that go over 20MPH and actually has a suspension. Your kid is going to have to lower his expectations or you’re going to have to raise your budget and comfort level with faster scooters if you want to find a happy medium.

I got my daughter who’s similar age an [Air Pro](https://inmotionworld.com/products/inmotion-air-pro-portable-folding-electric-scooter-for-adults) and she loves it. I’m assuming because he’s a boy he may want something more aggressive looking, GoTrax has some [good offerings](https://gotrax.com/products/gxzero-dual-motor-electric-scooter), but my preference for boys in that age group is the [Kukirin G2](https://www.kugooscooterusa.com/products/kukirin-g2-electric-scooter?variant=8ff41c1e-84d0-4031-a642-96aed17ad933&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21931692176&gbraid=0AAAAACZ_MRaDqSJw4M9VTjNipEa-wH1C5&gclid=Cj0KCQjwl5jHBhDHARIsAB0Yqjy3qtpW6P1Y4w4OgNeU4Rz4U-2bewyghX1UR42n9hKVKHnZP338rwIaAqtMEALw_wcB)

I got a Kukirin G2 Max that I very quickly modded into a Kukirin G2 Monster by swapping for dual controllers, adding a second motor on the front wheel, and adding a second stock battery so now it's a 40ah battery on a Kukirin, lol. I would NOT recommend doing a mod like that to anyone. It took me a fucking MONTH to complete and my wife was about to divorce me because I did it all in the living room 🤣🤣🤣. As far as changing tyres, honestly I wouldn't put the PMT's on it but a lot of people would disagree with me. The reason I say that is because I live in an area with a fair mix of on-road and off-road terrain and when you get road tires on a scooter covered in mud or anything slick it will really fuck you up and it caused me to fall a few weeks ago and I scraped the right under side of the deck and now I have to cover it up with carbon fibre tape to make it look good again. After that little incident I bought some proper off-road tires again and put them on and I am so much happier now because I finally have my confidence back in the machine because even when it's wet and woody like it is now in Ireland I have absolutely no problem attraction and I was able to put that to the test yesterday by having a bit of fun and chasing two of my dogs through an absolutely drenched field and I had fucking zero problems with my scooter except for the fact that I got covered in mud, lol.

The kukirins are great, I  have the G2 and I love it. The G3 got a facelift model recently,  so idk if it's a good scooter now, because the old version wasn't great as far as I know. G2 Max is also very good, but it's larger. Please take in to consideration the weight of the scooter , especially if you climb stairs every day. Also how much do you weight and do you climb hills on your commute?

It's an amazing scooter, just get. You'll be very happy. Trolls are spreading sh*t about KuKirin because they overpaid 3-4 times for equivalent scooter or bought a kid's toy Ninebot with 350W motor and they're sad. Get the KuKirin, bro, amazing brand and very reliable.

For the price you should check out the Ausom L1 or KuKirin G2! I'd say the L1 has a better frame, better headlight, louder horn and more features such as NFC card locking. The G2 on the other hand is more popular and has better brakes. They're both very good value and have the same exact power, speed and battery capacity. Have fun!

Kukirin g2/4 have bad frame and steering, and the folding mechanism on g4 degrades really fast as well as the suspension

NIU have bad quality imo, Apollo is also bad quality with lots of snapped stems. The dualtron you mentioned isn't what you'd expect from the company so wouldn't recommend it. The others I've had no experience with or I don't know enough about to recommend. If you have Apache over there the pro edition is good for the price, with a little caveat the battery brace is sharp on my friend's one will need filing down and some foam to protect the battery. I would recommend the Kukirin G2 however there is currently a stock shortage.

Keep in mind at least kukirin is a bit honest about their rain test estimates where it is may be 150 pound rider at around 15 mph and you will get that range on flat Road. Xiaomi is actually on crack when they do their range estimates. Barely 100 pound rider going maybe 10 mph especially on their scooters that have a top speed above 15 mph.

If you can push your budget, something like that kukirin g2 or similar might do the trick. Because depending on the hill, you’re basically gonna want dual motors. I’m 245lbs now but when I was 280ish I struggled even with a scooter that was single motor and around 1000watts. I’m also 6 foot two. And at 6 foot five you may want something that has a standard handlebar and a stem mount. That means you would be able to use a bicycle, stem razor that would essentially allow you to increase the height of the handlebars by 2 to 4 inches which would make a lot more comfortable to ride without feeling like you’re riding a kids scooter. I did that and I’m only 6ft 2in. So I think that’s something you would definitely benefit from. It sucks but at your weight. You really want something heavier duty. You gotta remember that a lot of the cheaper scooters were tested using Asian people which are typically closer between 100 and 150 pounds. An idea of what you might consider https://ausomstore.com/products/ausom-dt2-pro-e-scooter

Either a Kukirin G2 or, if you want to buy from reputable brands/stores, a Segway F2 pro, both sell for approx 500e. There's also the Kukirin G2 pro which has a telescopic stem, but with your weight and it deployed all the way it could become a weak point. Also do you have steep hills to climb ? A puny single motor might struggle with 110kg and steep hills.
