No reputable scooter sells a flat deck, especially on faster scooters. It’s there to accommodate the correct stance on a scooter so you don’t stand flat footed with your feet side by side wrenching the stem with every start and stop.
I got my daughter who’s similar age an [Air Pro](https://inmotionworld.com/products/inmotion-air-pro-portable-folding-electric-scooter-for-adults) and she loves it. I’m assuming because he’s a boy he may want something more aggressive looking, GoTrax has some [good offerings](https://gotrax.com/products/gxzero-dual-motor-electric-scooter), but my preference for boys in that age group is the [Kukirin G2](https://www.kugooscooterusa.com/products/kukirin-g2-electric-scooter?variant=8ff41c1e-84d0-4031-a642-96aed17ad933&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21931692176&gbraid=0AAAAACZ_MRaDqSJw4M9VTjNipEa-wH1C5&gclid=Cj0KCQjwl5jHBhDHARIsAB0Yqjy3qtpW6P1Y4w4OgNeU4Rz4U-2bewyghX1UR42n9hKVKHnZP338rwIaAqtMEALw_wcB)
Anything name brand under $500 will basically be a commuter scooter with no suspension, Kukirin really is the only recognizable entry level scooters that go over 20MPH and actually has a suspension. Your kid is going to have to lower his expectations or you’re going to have to raise your budget and comfort level with faster scooters if you want to find a happy medium.
Yes i own a g4...it is a cheap scooter compared to the Segway. The kukurin g2 is a level above the Segway g2 also...it has a 48v not a 36v..the battery is the biggest disappointment for me honestly...if you need a reliable scooter to get to places id go with the segway....if you just want to ride and have fun the kukurin is fine...as long as you know what you are getting.
For 45-50km/h I would recommend a Kukurin g2 (not the pro, its in my opinion inferior to the standard G2 (800W, 48V 15Ah (0.8Ah less then the g2 pro). The g2 has better suspension, a quick fold system and the g2 pro takes a bit longer, is less complex to work on and stabler. I own a g2, so I know what I am talking about, but Im also a bit biased😂, 3500km ridden and the only problems were my fault. It would cost €450-500 new, but you can find basically new ones for €350-400 second hands. My g2 range at 3500km, 190cm 85kg, is at top speed 20-25km but easily 50+km at 25km/h. For legal scooters, Ninebot g2 max or g30 are fine options. They are 'worse' in terms of speed, battery and suspension for the same price as Kukirins, but they are legal. If you buy them in a shop, you can get warrenty (2 years often) I would avoid expensive brands, maybe look at Kukirin, Ninebot, (Xiaomi maybe but they could have worse quality). It depends on your needs, Kukirin is a good all-round choice but illegal, Ninebot is legal but imo too expensive for what you get, Xiaomi is meh
Mine was <$300 after a store card deal but you can't buy it anymore. 6 mos. 1100 miles. I'd suggest stretching to $399 for a Navee GT3 or watching Amazon for a good price \~$300 for a Kukirin G2 regular (see price history).
Its a g2 master clone with some upgraded parts. Battery spec of 52v 23Ah definately will not result in a range of 115km just so you know. Looks like a good scooter if you like the trigger type accelerator.
For around $500 you can get a KuKirin G2 which goes 28mph and has a max range of 34 miles,(realistically around 22 miles, I’m 15 yrs old, 6’0 and 170 lbs, and its perfectly enough for me) and it has a great suspension, and if you maintain it well, there won’t be any issues (I’ve had it for 6 months and I only needed to replace the brake pads once which cost like $10). I ride with a motorcycle helmet, and It’s a really stable scooter, I never fell before.
