I've come across a few reuter branded scooters but this is the one I would personally avoid... The geometry isn't giving me great vibes... And if speed wobble is known to be an issue, especially at 30mph when it's rated for 50mph, then I'd definitely look elsewhere... As I said there are a few other reuter escooters that do look quite good but I would suggest looking elsewhere. Kukirins are currently one of the better value scooter brands. G2 master /g4 or g4 Pro/max There is an Australian based escooter seller but they do seem very expensive. Called escootsnow. If you find a reputable seller on alibaba you could save a ton but it's imperative you do your research.

Can't speak about the G4, but I have a G2 master and its a freaking tank. Only issue so far was broken fender from transport. Support was fairly quick and I had a new one in less than 2 weeks. I'm also 6'5" and 200 pounds...no issue with stem height or mobility issues

Yeah, people dislike mainly because of its poor battery life in the dual motor option. Also it has death wobbles, but if you have experience with escooters the only downside is it's battery

I just bought my daughter a Nui kqi 100p. I have ridin it, and I am impressed by the power it has for its weight. I also have a kukirin g2 master and it would be too heavy for your needs. The niu does surprising well up hills. Good luck, I hope you find what you're looking for. https://shop.niu.com/products/niu-kqi-100p-electric-scooter?srsltid=AfmBOorv3Tj6u4LGOpcf-xSLTpIoYp1vw9LqWJKhPmgCu-mi2-LrfG-I *edit* it is cheaper at best buy, which is where I purchased it.

Kukirin G2 Master. Right at 1k. You will not be disappointed. My son has ran his through the ringer and it is still going strong at 1000 miles. Replaced a tire, break pads and a (kickstand, after a crash). The power and quality is incredible for the price

Neither, get a Kukirin. You can get a g2 master or a g4 (depending on your preference) for 800. They are simply better scooters, better build quality, higher speed and higher motor power output

I personally own a Kukirin G2 Master. After about 400 miles, I started to notice some stem wobble. By 800 miles, the wobble had become a genuine safety hazard, so I took it to a shop. They discovered that the metal in the stem was completely worn down. Once the worn part was replaced, the scooter worked as good as new. I'm guessing the stem wore down because I took the scooter out on trails every now and then (prob rode 80 miles total on semi rough terrain), but I'm not entirely sure. Aside from the stem wobble issue, I have nothing bad to say about the G2. For $1000, it's an incredible deal—it has a top speed of 40+ MPH, 25+ Miles of Range, decent acceleration and torque, and a good suspension.

Wouldn't recommend the G4 as your first, simply because it's so freakin' *huge*. If what you need is a comfortable long-range cruiser you don't have to roll into stores or bring up staircases then it's one of the best around, but in every other case and for generic urban use something like a G2 Master would be a much better choice.

We constantly tell people to get brand-name scooters instead of knockoffs and parts-bins, but while for low-tier scooters this is often understood, mid- to high-tier scooters have the problem that brand-name stuff gets really expensive. This prompts a lot of people to get, say, Kukirins instead of Dualtrons. Our stance about those tends to be that they might be decent value for money, but only on the condition that the user can do maintenance and fixes. If nothing else, mid-tier generics and near-generics tend to be *somewhat* better built than [the *real* cheapies](https://reddit.com/r/ElectricScooters/comments/1gtbsr2/cheap_m365_knockoffs_currently_being_discounted/), so we don't feel so alarmed about them. There's not a lot more that we can do; markets have their trends, and the push toward the bottom has existed in every product line ever. That's how cheap products even exist at all, though of course there's almost always a compromise in quality. Some people get this and accept the tradeoff; some get it and decide for a higher quality scooter; others don't get it at all and then complain that their Kukirin has a bolt loose and they don't know how to screw it back in.

r/ElectricScooters • Do people still buy name brands? ->
Reddit Icon
IronMew • 9 months ago

Just as long as you know the tradeoffs and are prepared to maintain and fix it yourself. We don't have a problem with people who understand this part of the bargain - I should know, as I'm one of them - we're just pissed at those who buy with no understanding of anything and often without having done a whit of research, then come here to complain that their parts-bin scooter needs some basic repair they don't know how to perform.

So, I commute \~8km each way, few hills and a couple decent ones. I'm \~110kg but "only" 175cm. Weight was, clearly, my main concern while looking for a scooter. I've done almost 2000km in a year and pretty happy with my G2 Master. Not sure about price in the USA.

I would look at the Kukirin G2 Master. That thing is about the best scooter you'll get for the money. I just spent weeks researching this myself on the same budget and got it last week. I've been very happy with it so far. It was $1,079 USD shipped to my door. For that, you get 2x 1000w motors, a 20.8 AH battery that they claim can go 43 mi but would probably be closer to half that if you drive in dual motor mode and go fast. Speaking of fast, it does 37 mph. It's a serious scooter--a vehicle, not a toy. So you definitely want to gear up when you're riding something like this. Good luck! I'm actually a 40-year-old guy who can't see well enough to get my driver's license so I get around my small town using my scooter as my primary means of transportation.

Yep it's got pretty bright turn signals and the headlight is bright enough, but it's down low on the scooter stem so I added a bicycle light to the handlebars. So the lower light lets me see like 6 ft in front of me and then the upper light gives me the six to 30 ft plus ahead of me illumination. It has dual disc brakes as well as regenerative brakes and I find it has very good stopping power as is. Some people prefer hydraulic brakes and it's a bolt-on upgrade if I ever decide I want to upgrade it. This is what the running lights look like. When the main light is on, all of the lights are on. Then when you turn on the turn signals the corresponding yellow lights blink which I think makes it a very visible signal at night. https://preview.redd.it/cnv78sdk0gie1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ec2a7978c77d467932ca7df6c3d5f7d90cd5773

I have one and while it does have turn signals and ambient lighting, I’d recommend you buy a separate light to attach to the handlebars as most scooters like this one just have a small headlight at the front that works well enough, but you might want to have a brighter light.

NIU have bad quality imo, Apollo is also bad quality with lots of snapped stems. The dualtron you mentioned isn't what you'd expect from the company so wouldn't recommend it. The others I've had no experience with or I don't know enough about to recommend. If you have Apache over there the pro edition is good for the price, with a little caveat the battery brace is sharp on my friend's one will need filing down and some foam to protect the battery. I would recommend the Kukirin G2 however there is currently a stock shortage.

Honestly, the G4 sucks 2kw single motor bad stem design. Bad hill climbing, bad suspension. I know you specifically asked not to mention it, but the G2 master is the best you'll get at that price range. And they've fixed the speed wobble that used to be an issue. Get your scooter from www.locoscooters.ie best prices fast shipping genuine new products no refurbs etc. If you want more, the Kukirin G3 Pro is your best bet for just over 1k. Check out gingeronwheels videos comparing the three I've mentioned. Part one of 2 is here https://youtu.be/iYliYXL6wGA?si=BXri9IpRJwDNpMm6 part 2 really highlights how bad the G4 actually is.

Cutting right to it, buy it or any other Kukirin product! After 350 miles I wanted to give a review of my G2 Master. It’s fast, fun and climbs hills like a beast. I bought this scooter to commute to work in Pittsburgh, PA and there’s some CRAZY hills here. Hills I see other scooters and even E-Bikes forced to walk up. Not me, the Kukirin G2 master goes 20mph up even the steepest of hills. I’m seriously impressed. I cruise at 30-35mph usually but have touched 45mph going slightly downhill. The scooter can get a bit wobbly above 40mph so I keep it under usually. I keep it charged so I haven’t done a full range test. I’ve done 15-18 miles with plenty of battery so I would assume with my 180lb frame I could get around 22-25 miles easy on full charge. I went with Kukirin because I saw they had every part available to easily order for replacements or repairs. A couple weeks ago I took my first major fall. A bee flew into my full face helmet when I was going roughly 25 mph and I freaked out and dumped it. This crash caused the little locking nut inside the stem that limits the steering angle to sheer off. I contacted Kukirin with the photos I added here and they got back to me saying they’ll process my photos and get back to me with parts to fix. 2 weeks go by and parts showed up at my door! I didn’t ask for replacements just a parts list so I could order them myself. No, Kukirin went above and beyond and sent me parts no questions asked! The scooter, the company, the service. Amazing 10/10 would recommend.

The max is worth it if you don’t have any hills. You’ll immediately want the Master if you have any kind of hills in your city. Also the Master is kind of a lot to be riding on the sidewalks so you’ll need to ride with traffic most of the time.

A city with some of the steepest hills in the country. I hit 40mph regularly on flat ground and cruise usually at 30mph. This thing literally spins the tires under me if I don’t lean enough when starting on dry pavement. The company also has every single part, screw and cable to fix anything readily available. They even sent me a free part after I crashed! Haha

I thought I was bad having 5 scooters in four years lol and not at the same time it's a great hobby (addiction) after you realize even if you really don't need anything your still ordering something for it monthly lol. But sweet G2 Master got my kid one for his 16th birthday if I could afford 2 have 2 scooters I would pick one up for myself, to travel with 8 take the bus and train a lot and my y 5600w scooter weighs like 120lbs lol. The G2 Master is a good combo of weight and still has enough power to get around pretty good.

I would go with the G2 masterbyou can pick one up on AliExpress for 900. I got my kid one, and I really prefer dual drive scooter. Yes the 2000w motor on the G4 will hit 43 mph and the master only hits 41mph but with the dual drive it will get there a lot faster lol. The real reason I prefer dual drive is because you don't slow down and loose a bunch of speed on hills Just for an example my scooter is 5600w with two 2800w motors. I live in the Berkshire mountains in western Massachusetts and have hills that are at least a mile long. With my scooter in dual drive I can cruise right up the biggest hills without slowing down at all, infact can speed up if I wanted to. When I put it in single drive on one 2800w motor even with that wattage to try and maintain speed I have to nail it. By the time I get to the top of the hill I have prob slowed down 40% now figure that on a single drive scooter. If it was a little faster and had a 60v battery I shave got myself a G2 Master. My kid has had his 6 min and it's been awesome

There not bad a good starter I usually tell people if it's not a kid 800w is a good place to start. Also today most scooters are made pretty well, if you take care of it do weekly maintenance such as tightening up all bolts (have a tendency to vibrate lose)even with loctite. Check tire Psi and fix things when they need fixing you won't have any issues I would also look at G2 Master single drive it's around the same price 1000w not much difference in speed but has a 52v battery which is a step up from the 48v in the pro. Have you looked on AliExpress you can actually save a few bucks ordering from there and if you look for the ones with 3 to 7 day shipping that means it ships directly from the USA

Nah. I tried out my friend's G4 and I think it pretty shit. Even he hates it and regrets buying it. It's the same shit as the G2 but a bit more powerful shit. You're probably better off with a G2 Master. Almost the same speed but the G2 Master has better acceleration so it feels faster compared to the G4 which feels kinda sluggish. It's also an ugly brick to be completely honest. The G2 Master has it's own problems but it's much better in my opinion.

You can build your own stuff to customise it to your needs.. Especially if you have the money. Find a scooter that is a good platform and swap out the parts. I did the same with my G2 Master. It's an alright scooter but I wanted more from it, so I replaced the shocks to 150mm DNM, the tires to PMT, the brakes to a 4 piston hydraulic Zoom set, the rotors to 160mm IceTech, the controller to a Dual Drive Flipsky VESC and much more... If you say you're willing to pay for it, then do your research and planning, order the parts you want and build it or get it built.

If you want that kind of speed + dual motors (and a horn) for that price, Kukirin has some stuff (G2 master maybe?). But you aren't getting the other stuff. NFC is pretty pointless anyways, as are the LEDs (just install your own?). You can get aftermarket turn signals as well.

The "best ones" are the G2 Master, G3 Pro, G4, and G4 Max. As for which one specifically? Well, it comes down to preference. Each one excels in it's own way, so I tried to lay that out best i could. **G2 master - "The Daily Driver".** It is the most practical, "liveable" one I guess you could say. It has the weakest motors of the 3 (2x 1000w motors), lightest weight, and the smallest battery (52v 20ah), but it's VERY close to the G3 pro in all 3 of those. Easier to haul around, more nimble, and imo the most refined. Hydraulic springs + lever arm suspension. **G3 Pro - "The Daily, But More".** Pretty much a slightly amped up version of the G2 Master. It's very very similar, just a bit heavier with more power (2x 1200w motors) + battery capacity (52v 23ah). Ausom Gallop is this exact scooter but removeable battery :) Suspension is **non**\-hydraulic springs + lever arms. **Regular G4 - The "Backroad Cruiser".** Unique from the others for sure. It's a SINGLE motor instead of dual. 1 big ass 2000w rear motor, big/wide 11" tires, the same battery capacity as the G3pro but it's 60v instead of 52v (higher top end speed!). It wont *accelerate* as hard, but it will push high speeds much easier than the g2/g3. The huge tires, longer wheel base, and lower center of gravity will also make those speeds much more tolerable. Suspension is also **non**\-hydraulic springs. **G4 Max - The "Super Scooter".** Different than the normal G4 in every way. It's WAY more powerful (2x 1600w motors). It's a big ass scooter, with big ass 12" tires, and a BIG BIG ass 60v 35ah battery. It also weighs as much as a fully grown adult. It is probably most comparable to Yume's higher end scooters. Proper hydraulic motorcycle-style shocks. They all pack TONS of performance per dollar, have *excellent* battery capacities, and enough features to satisfy most people. I've heard people say the G4 frame is iffy, but ive never actually SEEN any issues. I would get the G3 Pro (rather, the Ausom Gallop) personally, but the G4 would be my second choice.

Would avoid this purely as it has PU (rubber) shocks. You want springs to actually make a difference. The Kukirin G2 Master is popular as a cheaper but effective option. Look for the 2024 updated version though. It has “reflective” sides instead of the orange plastic decoration on the swing-arms and an updated print on the deck. The UK kinda sucks for decent/quality dual motor options circa £1000 (a lot more around £2000-2500 which is annoying).

I dont drift or doing wheeling, my brakes are not very good but still the same as when I just got it, my tires are almost new, really 0 trouble since I got it and I charge it almost 2 times everyday. You can do only 29km (my weight is 60kg) if you go 65km/h all the way but can do 45-50 if you go at 30-35 km/h.

For the price you should check out the Ausom L1 or KuKirin G2! I'd say the L1 has a better frame, better headlight, louder horn and more features such as NFC card locking. The G2 on the other hand is more popular and has better brakes. They're both very good value and have the same exact power, speed and battery capacity. Have fun!

Kukirin g2/4 have bad frame and steering, and the folding mechanism on g4 degrades really fast as well as the suspension

Keep in mind at least kukirin is a bit honest about their rain test estimates where it is may be 150 pound rider at around 15 mph and you will get that range on flat Road. Xiaomi is actually on crack when they do their range estimates. Barely 100 pound rider going maybe 10 mph especially on their scooters that have a top speed above 15 mph.

If you can push your budget, something like that kukirin g2 or similar might do the trick. Because depending on the hill, you’re basically gonna want dual motors. I’m 245lbs now but when I was 280ish I struggled even with a scooter that was single motor and around 1000watts. I’m also 6 foot two. And at 6 foot five you may want something that has a standard handlebar and a stem mount. That means you would be able to use a bicycle, stem razor that would essentially allow you to increase the height of the handlebars by 2 to 4 inches which would make a lot more comfortable to ride without feeling like you’re riding a kids scooter. I did that and I’m only 6ft 2in. So I think that’s something you would definitely benefit from. It sucks but at your weight. You really want something heavier duty. You gotta remember that a lot of the cheaper scooters were tested using Asian people which are typically closer between 100 and 150 pounds. An idea of what you might consider https://ausomstore.com/products/ausom-dt2-pro-e-scooter

Ausom is just a rebranded KuKirin, so better get the original KuKirin. I don't think there's a better scooter than the G2 at that price point.

Depends on roads, laws, side walks and well if you wanna spend the money. I got a kukirin g2 which was about $600 and my daily commute is only like 2 miles. Takes me 5 minutes luckily. I’d say if the place where you live has a proper route for scooters or bicycles then do it. If it goes I’d say over 25mph make sure to get a motorcycle helmet cus crashing goes that speed on a scooter is gonna hurt like a mf

I just found out the g1 pro is sold out. G2 is definitely going to carry you well. It's quite fast also.

I recommend getting him something that can peak his interest in the hobby, like a KuKirin scooter. An M5 Pro might be suitable since it goes fast enough and has an adjustable stem. If you're looking for cheaper but functional, an L12 scooter will do just fine: https://m.alibaba.com/x/x9z8LPD?ck=pdp Do make sure to inflate the tires to 45psi when it arrives though.

You can't make a reliable and durable scooter for very little money. Kukirin is a good example. They skimp on quality and reliability, not on marketing.

They guarantee Kukirin for half or a quarter as long. With normal brands, you can find scooters that have done 10,000 km and only cost two tyre changes. You don't have to keep it alive with constant repairs.

given all the ones with serious bad bolts, i would suggest against kukirin like serious death traps imo, i'm not against the brand but they'd have to replace all bolts with proper steel ones before i'd get near Any of them.
