I live in Buschwick and commute to the city daily on my G2 Max scooter. It takes around 15-20minutes (buschwick to lower manhattan) Previously, I used to ride voromoters, but the G2 Max is significantly superior and more reliable compared to other scooters available in the market. G2 Max can reach speeds of up to 16-18 mph on the Williamsburg bridge, which is even faster than the Citi e-bike. I got mine for $600 from wallmart restored version.

Okay as an multiple owner of the Kukirin G2 max + G3 pro and now I have 2 (not 1) G4 and I can tell you that the G4 (for me and my riding style) that the G4 is the best! The dual motors scooters, and the batteries do not last as long as the G4! So let's start with the quality, the quality is made very very well, just recently I was on a bike trail and about 50 kids were on the trail also heading towards me, well of course one of them wasn't paying attention and crashed their Bixie bike head on into my scooter... Not a dent not a scratch and not a wobble after it happened and he hit me pretty hard! The folding mechanism is double locked, so there is no way that that thing's going to collapse no way in hell... The suspension on it is perfect and I'm a pretty heavy guy.. the dual motor scooters have great take off yes and can ride up the hill no problem, but man do you take a hit on the battery and distance of riding... Now with you going up many Hills and whatnot of course the battery will take a hit on any scooter.. Hills and wind and weight are against you no matter what scooter 🛴 you ride.. going up hills with the G4 has never been a problem for me and I've been up some pretty steep hills, yes of course the scooter will slow down a bit but not enough to make it a problem, now as for the speed it's very fast I've gotten it up to 75 km no problem and like I said I'm a pretty heavy guy my buddy who bought the same scooter managed to get it up to 78 km an hour... So normally for easy riding I set it into second gear and set that to 30 km an hour and that'll last me 4 hours (taking breaks here and there) and about 60 something kilometers distance possibly more.... What I'm most impressed about is the distance I can ride on this thing.. it boggles my mind! Then they'll be days that I push the scooter pretty hard and ride pretty fast and it handles it like a champ... Obviously the distance will take a hit like any scooter... But one of the things that I noticed is with the dual motors like the G3 pro the battery life isn't that great! I ended up selling it to a co-worker and keeping the G4... If the battery and distance would have been better than probably I would have kept the G3 pro... The only complaint that I have about these scooters is the charging time...10 to 12 hours is a hell of a long time.. so going out and then charging it while you're out and about is not really realistic... If these things could charge faster like half way in about 4 hours then that would be fantastic... Or I wish you could hot swap batteries on the G4... That would be a game changer. The price of the G4 and the quality you get is without a doubt amazing... I'm highly highly confident that you would be happy with the G4 and it would suit your needs

That may be a good choice. The G2 Max is not a bad scoot either tbh, I sold a few of those under the Valiex brand, my daughter has one, it's been great, she's had it about 1.5 years. Not sure about the new G2, but it seems to be good to go. Especially for commuting. Good size battery.

I have both the ZT3 and Max G2. The G2 feels like a toy after riding the ZT3. I really like the ZT3. It handles well, feels much more stable than the G2, and I like the wider body which makes it much more comfortable to ride. At $850 on sale right now it’s a really great deal.

Well they all have better suspension than most Segway scooters, better speed, battery, range better build quality, not overpriced and parts availability. Not sure if you heard but the Segway p100s were recalled bc they keep snapping in half and it's also happening to the gt2 which is a $2500 scooter! I heard people complain about Segway ignoring them when they try to return their p100s

I just had to make the same decision a couple of weeks ago, the G2 Max vs the ZT3 Pro. The only reason I chose the G2 is because I live upstairs in an apartment, and the ZT3 is too heavy to carry up and down the stairs (it weighs 65lbs, whereas the G2 weighs 50lbs). But if I had a garage where I could just roll it in and out I would have bought the ZT3. That said, I’m totally happy with the G2, smooth ride, great distance, fast enough, great features, very nice scooter.

So the issue with the advertised range is that it’s tested under ideal conditions (no traffic, flat roads) with a very lightweight rider. Constant acceleration and deceleration lowers your actual range. G30LP might not cut it as people have tested it for around 14 miles of range without traffic, so it might fall short a bit to your requirements (with traffic). But it is currently the best value per dollar since it’s $250 refurbished at Walmart. F2 Pro is alright, you’ll definitely get 12 miles and have a bit of range left over. I personally own the F2 Pro in NYC and I get around 15 miles of range. I recommend the Max G2 (as the owner of one myself) I know your budget is $600, but if you are open to second-hand scooters. That’s around the price of a used Max G2 on Facebook marketplace. Just make sure to do your due diligence by checking the battery voltage, cycles, etc. before purchasing it.

If you want peace of mind with the extra range then it’s the best option. I get at least 20 miles in NYC with the G2. It’s a bit heavier though so it really depends on your personal needs. F2 Pro would be enough but in my opinion the Max G2 would be the best choice

The kukirins are great, I  have the G2 and I love it. The G3 got a facelift model recently,  so idk if it's a good scooter now, because the old version wasn't great as far as I know. G2 Max is also very good, but it's larger. Please take in to consideration the weight of the scooter , especially if you climb stairs every day. Also how much do you weight and do you climb hills on your commute?

Get the ZT3. You’re gonna want the suspension and comfort not too far into getting your first scooter. That’s the mistake I made with not getting a suspension equipped scooter as my first. Don’t even bother listening to the G2 comments, you’re gonna want the larger platform even if it does weigh slightly more.

It does but I would take the forks over the inside system of the G2 personally. Plus it's a much higher platform which from my experience would help significantly.

Yeah, I upgraded from a G2 Max - I had planned on eventually upgrading to a G3 but couldn't say no to that price. It was still a bit of a gamble since it could have been a return and not a damaged box, but luckily it worked out. I figure the deal will replicate again - mostly cause they probably don't want those huge boxes sitting around in their warehouses.

There is no trade-off between speed and reliability. A dependable scooter is a dependable scooter. If you have one that doesn't work every time you turn it on, then you bought the wrong one. As far as rain, you better have pneumatic tires. Outside of that, I wouldn't leave anything out in the rain that cost as much as scooters do. Now, are you talking about the MaxG2, or the G2Max? One is Segway, one is Kukirin. The Kukirin is around $780. The Kukirin G2Max, although it's only a 48volt, advertises a top end at 35mph and 50 mile range. You're in the game with that. I've never owned a Kukirin, but those are the specs of a respectable beginner scooter. You'll be able to ride that for a couple years before you start looking to upgrade. 35 mph is that first swert spot. Can't you finance, though? Is your credit trash? Because a couple hundred down and you can have a nice vehicle for less than $50/month. You're downplaying the speed aspect rn because 1. you appear to be new to this and 2. your priority is budget, i get it. But unless you're a 12 yr old or a girl, 18-22 mph will be frustrating after about 2 months. Im a grown ass adult with a 10 yr old daughter saying this. Which means if you're in your early 20s or close to that, you'll get frustrated at that speed even sooner. If I was that age theres no way I would be satisfied riding at that speed. It's just a means, theres no FUN at 20 mph. Plus, once you start riding you meet other riders. Riding in a group is fun asf. Unless everyone else is on.Dualtrons and Vsettes and you're on your low end thingy doing 20. That will be them last time.they invite you to ride w them, frfr.

Max G2 is worth the price the ZT3 is not at all. The ZT3 battery is incredibly small for the price and has not been fully tested for issues with it yet. I'd say to go for the Max G2 if you're ok with going a little bit slower. If the ZT3 is on sale for 850 dollars and under then it wouldn't be a bad deal.

It's going to depend on where you live, beyond the more mainstream brands like Segway or whatever I don't think these will be sold on Amazon :D Also note the options I refer to will be for the most part more expensive, I'm mostly pointing out that the scooter is a bit too heavy for what it features, that doesn't make it bad bang for buck or anything. But yeah for the 30+kg/65+lb range of weight you can get some neat dual motor setups with bigger batteries from brands like Teverun, Nami and stuff. The Max G2 remains a great option if it's your first personal escooter though, don't sweat it.

Why'd you need to replace the battery? I have 3500ish miles on my Max G2, and I am at 92% original capacity. No need to change any time soon. By around the 10000 mile mark I might have to consider it though lol. I also exclusively use a 5 amp fast charger.

G2 Max is alright, but you want dual motor for your weight/going uphill. Dual 500w motors will produce TWICE as much torque as a single 1000w motor. Torque is the "twisting force" of the motor, which is what gets you up hills and makes it easier to move more weight. A bike/car has gears to make more torque. Escooters use direct-drive hub motors, so the only way to get more torque is with more power(watts), or use dual motors. The G3 Pro has 2x 1200w vs 1x 1000w on the G2 Max. That's *2.4x the power, and 4.8x the torque!!!**

My Max G2 has a 36v 551Wh battery, and I consistently get about 35-40km of range, going 30-35km/h (155lbs with gear on) through mostly hills. So about the same as you, with *half* the battery. There's many factors that influence range such as single vs dual motor, type of tires, how aggressive you drive, how much you brake, regen vs. coasting, etc. There's a video of the original 1500Wh Emove cruiser going 104km, with full throttle. Many other people have reported getting up to 100km of range with 1600-2000Wh, while going a comfortable 30-40km/h average. My point is, you simply do not need anywhere near 3240Wh to go 100km unless you want to go QUICK.

Haha, same here. I was deciding between the Max G2 and the Lectric XP 3.0 for commuting. I was torn because I needed something VERY reliable, and wasn't sure if an escooter could handle the nasty roads here. I went with the Max G2, and am really glad I did. I don't think the Lectric would have held up to the abuse my G2 has gone through. After I got my Max G2, I realized a huge advantage I hadn't even considered. Electric scooters are portable/small enough to bring with you inside stores/retaurants/work/etc, and no one really cares (if they do, go somewhere else lol). Ebikes (even foldable ones) are too large/heavy to take into most places, and most won't even let you anyways. That means you have to lock it up outside, and no matter how many locks/alarms/trackers you have, there's always a chance it gets stolen. The longer you leave it, the higher the chance.

Huh, that's kinda surprising. Curious, does the Niu app show how much wattage the scooter is making when you ride? I ask because I have a scooter with *similar* power, the Max G2 (450w nominal 900w peak, versus the KQi3 pro with 350w nominal 700w peak) When I am going up this big ass hill (15-20% grade 1.2 miles long) on my commute, my G2 outputs \~900w the entire way up without dropping, according to the Segway App. I am also 140lbs, and I go 11-14mph the whole way up (and yes, I did mean 15-20 percent grade, not degrees lol). Some earlier firmware versions had me at more like 750w going up that hill, and it still wasnt horrible.

The Max G2 or ZT3 pro if you can find them for under $800. Both have surprisingly tall handlebars, measured from the deck. Should be more than suitable for your height. There's not many scooters that have taller handlebars, let alone in this price range

GT2 is a huge upgrade over the Max G2. Just keep in mind - these scooters are not even in the same CLASS of product. Max G2 * Reasonably lightweight @ 56lbs, reasonably portable with a folding/latching stem + medium size. * It is something you can take anywhere with you and is GREAT for running short errands or commuting to work/school/etc. It's easy to take onto the bus/train/car, fits almost anywhere. It's *just* small/light enough to where it isn't a hassle. * You sacrifice (vs. GT2) ride quality/suspension/stability/speed/bit of range, for practicality and better reliability GT2 * **Extremely** heavy @ 116lbs, not portable at all as stem **doesn't latch**, there's no handles + it's HUGE. * It is primarily for cruising around, and doing so in comfort!!! It's huge size is great for stability and ride quality, and it has great suspension paired with cushy 11" tires. It feels more like an actual "vehicle" than an escooter. *However,* It isn't ideal for commuting, nor is it ideal for trips to the store/errands, since it's unlikely you can bring it inside most anywhere. You aren't going to be bringing it up ANY stairs, either. Expect it to live on the ground level at ALL times. * You sacrifice (vs Max G2) practicality/portability/reliability, for amazing ride quality and higher/faster speed. The reliability thing mostly comes down to two things. *Firstly,* there is a known stem snapping issue on the GT1/GT2. I've only ever seen it happen on scooters with 3000+ miles, but it is a concern. *Secondly,* the GT1/GT2 are only IPX4 rated water resistant, REALLY poor for an escooter. You do NOT want to take it out in the rain/snow. Max G2 is IPX5 for the body and IPX7 (submergible) for the battery/controller. TLDR; Both scooters are WILDY different. The Max G2 is a practical, reliable commuter workhorse with some nice features. The GT2 is a huge luxury sports scooter with all the things you could want, but is wildy impractical for most people due to it's weight/size.

As someone who once had a 35MPH  scooter with the dual drive and the works -- get a regular "commuter" scooter and skip the power scooter. Unless you're quite handy, most of these scooters require considerable effort to repair. I'd go with a reliable brand that has you go at a reasonable speed. I used to commute 6 miles in an urban area which took me from a 30 minute commute to a 12-15 minute one. Felt worth it, and when it rained I took my car. I'd recommend the G2 Max.

I will say after riding my Max G2 and my Apollo City Pro 2024, plus a whole bunch of no-namers at Electrify Expo....Smooth throttle acceleration AND physical throttle response is #1 on my list. the Max G2 can be depressed 50% before I even get a response. And the response is super jerky, with or without boost mode mode on. I cant hold a speed for anything. its on or off. My current recommendation is SPEND the extra money for Apollo City Pro because.... Regen Braking - its a requirement for me. dual motor - I can keep up with anyone else and cars on the road. dual motor - I can climb any hill at 20mph dual motor - I can accelerate in a way that makes it fun build - solid as a rock reliability - YES, zero issues, over a thousand miles of riding. price - great hand placement - much more stable that the G2. deck space - great weight - 68 or so pounds. this may be a dealbreaker to some skyscraper commuters that don't park in the garage, but to me its the max I want to put in and out of the car. Bad - steering damper. it pulls into turns and I HATE that. but its literally the one thing I have to sacrifice (plus not seeing what the charge percent is) for all the rest. Bad - my wife and girlfriend both prefer the easy golf cart simplicity size, weight, agility of the max G2. They can ride with me on most rides, but they don't have parity when we are travel touring. I always have to slow down for them. 21mph vs. 31mph Ultimately - regen braking and smooth acceleration are dealbreakers for most other scoots.

Still not great for hills tho. I also got a kugoo g2 max that goes up hills easily but I’d prefer hard wheels over tubes

For a two mile commute you have complete freedom to pick whatever scooter you want. Most people needing range generally have to go with something heavier for the battery and higher speeds to make the trip not as long. I have a Vsett and G2 Max but I would really love a NIU KQi Air for something ultra light that I would attach a sling to and carry over the shoulder into shops.

Most scooter brands this subreddit recommends has at least their entry line that starts in the 500-1,000 range. Segway, Kukirin, Nanrobot, LEOOUT, InMotion, Toursor, and lastly Yume although their lowest priced model is $929. I'm new like you and spent a lot of time reading this sub and these were the brands I kept seeing over and over. Ultimately I went with Kukirin G2 Max as I believe it offered the most speed for the price point and came with a detachable seat which I wanted. Idk about the ip though. The highest IP rating I saw in that range (my price range was similar to yours) was IP56.

For the price you should check out the Ausom L1 or KuKirin G2! I'd say the L1 has a better frame, better headlight, louder horn and more features such as NFC card locking. The G2 on the other hand is more popular and has better brakes. They're both very good value and have the same exact power, speed and battery capacity. Have fun!

NIU have bad quality imo, Apollo is also bad quality with lots of snapped stems. The dualtron you mentioned isn't what you'd expect from the company so wouldn't recommend it. The others I've had no experience with or I don't know enough about to recommend. If you have Apache over there the pro edition is good for the price, with a little caveat the battery brace is sharp on my friend's one will need filing down and some foam to protect the battery. I would recommend the Kukirin G2 however there is currently a stock shortage.

Keep in mind at least kukirin is a bit honest about their rain test estimates where it is may be 150 pound rider at around 15 mph and you will get that range on flat Road. Xiaomi is actually on crack when they do their range estimates. Barely 100 pound rider going maybe 10 mph especially on their scooters that have a top speed above 15 mph.

If you can push your budget, something like that kukirin g2 or similar might do the trick. Because depending on the hill, you’re basically gonna want dual motors. I’m 245lbs now but when I was 280ish I struggled even with a scooter that was single motor and around 1000watts. I’m also 6 foot two. And at 6 foot five you may want something that has a standard handlebar and a stem mount. That means you would be able to use a bicycle, stem razor that would essentially allow you to increase the height of the handlebars by 2 to 4 inches which would make a lot more comfortable to ride without feeling like you’re riding a kids scooter. I did that and I’m only 6ft 2in. So I think that’s something you would definitely benefit from. It sucks but at your weight. You really want something heavier duty. You gotta remember that a lot of the cheaper scooters were tested using Asian people which are typically closer between 100 and 150 pounds. An idea of what you might consider https://ausomstore.com/products/ausom-dt2-pro-e-scooter

Depends on roads, laws, side walks and well if you wanna spend the money. I got a kukirin g2 which was about $600 and my daily commute is only like 2 miles. Takes me 5 minutes luckily. I’d say if the place where you live has a proper route for scooters or bicycles then do it. If it goes I’d say over 25mph make sure to get a motorcycle helmet cus crashing goes that speed on a scooter is gonna hurt like a mf

I recommend getting him something that can peak his interest in the hobby, like a KuKirin scooter. An M5 Pro might be suitable since it goes fast enough and has an adjustable stem. If you're looking for cheaper but functional, an L12 scooter will do just fine: https://m.alibaba.com/x/x9z8LPD?ck=pdp Do make sure to inflate the tires to 45psi when it arrives though.

You can't make a reliable and durable scooter for very little money. Kukirin is a good example. They skimp on quality and reliability, not on marketing.

They guarantee Kukirin for half or a quarter as long. With normal brands, you can find scooters that have done 10,000 km and only cost two tyre changes. You don't have to keep it alive with constant repairs.

We constantly tell people to get brand-name scooters instead of knockoffs and parts-bins, but while for low-tier scooters this is often understood, mid- to high-tier scooters have the problem that brand-name stuff gets really expensive. This prompts a lot of people to get, say, Kukirins instead of Dualtrons. Our stance about those tends to be that they might be decent value for money, but only on the condition that the user can do maintenance and fixes. If nothing else, mid-tier generics and near-generics tend to be *somewhat* better built than [the *real* cheapies](https://reddit.com/r/ElectricScooters/comments/1gtbsr2/cheap_m365_knockoffs_currently_being_discounted/), so we don't feel so alarmed about them. There's not a lot more that we can do; markets have their trends, and the push toward the bottom has existed in every product line ever. That's how cheap products even exist at all, though of course there's almost always a compromise in quality. Some people get this and accept the tradeoff; some get it and decide for a higher quality scooter; others don't get it at all and then complain that their Kukirin has a bolt loose and they don't know how to screw it back in.

Just as long as you know the tradeoffs and are prepared to maintain and fix it yourself. We don't have a problem with people who understand this part of the bargain - I should know, as I'm one of them - we're just pissed at those who buy with no understanding of anything and often without having done a whit of research, then come here to complain that their parts-bin scooter needs some basic repair they don't know how to perform.
