Based on 1 year's data from Feb 24, 2026 How it works
All the tech and screen stuff are mostly just marketing gimmicks, and don't really impact the core function of the scooter. If you want a solid reliable scooter, don't care about weight, and want to spend less money, get the G2.
Lol, I currently have 2740 km on my G2 since July 2023. I'm a little worried because I've read a lot of posts saying that after a long ride, the tires lose quite a bit of psi, like 20-25, and that's a lot! That's the main reason I'm questioning my purchase.
I had a G2 and sold it for the GO. I did not like lifting the G2 into my Car, the weight felt so uneven it was all the back to me. I sprained my back lifting it into the CRV once doing so. I moved on the Go and its easier. Weight is even can even lift with one arm for a short distance. GO is more fun than the G2. More agile, more sporty, faster, go up hills better. Firm suspension G2 is more stable, confidence inspiring. Maybe the better commuter overall due to this. Depends on your preference overall. One is like a VW GTI the other is a Toyota Camry.
Best is relative I think, it depends what features and specs matter most to you. A solid, reliable, and all round stout scooter I think you can't go past the Ninebot Max G3 or even G2 is you don't need the extra speed. Super approachable, forgiving scooters that punch above their class in certain metrics.
With your weight, almost any adult scooter is suitable for you. Given the short travel distance, scooters with small batteries are also suitable. I would consider Ninebot scooters, as they have more reliable electronics, and the mechanical parts are also quite reliable. For example, Ninebot scooters Es series (Es1, Es2, Es4), F series(F25, F35, F45), G30, G2 (used ones can be bought for $ 300, and this would be the best solution for the money), E2. Of all the scooters listed, the Es series has a folding mechanism, which makes it easier to store it leaning against the wall, placing it on the front wheel, and using a wall mount. Other scooters can also be stored in this way, but due to the design features, they will bulge strongly from the wall, and it is not very convenient to put them on 1 wheel. Xiaomi scooters also performed well, such as the m365, m365 pro, etc. Inexpensive kukirin scooters can also be considered, but they often have mechanical problems, and the electrics sometimes fail, although due to their mass production, spare parts for them are cheaper than for other scooters.
This is essentially a copy of the xiaomi m365, but more powerful, and the price is too damn high. As for me, it's better to pay a little extra and buy a Ninebot G2 or Ninebot E3 (just the first thing that came to mind), they are not inferior in power, they have a double suspension. Well, or look for something better than the hiboy s2 pro, for that price.
Ninebot G30 or G2 G2 more comfortable and a bit more powerful, but more expensive and significantly heavier Niu KQi2 and KQi3 are also good options
Too much scooter for someone who's never ridden one before. The G4 in particular is a *big* beast and likely to give you trouble just handling it, let alone at speed. Scooters give you a false sense of security because they *look* so simple and easy to ride, but they're actually quite treacherous if you have no experience; they're significantly more likely to surprise you with unexpected behaviour than bicycles, for instance. Get something slow-ish like a Ninebot G2 or an old G30, ride it for a few hundred km, then upgrade to something fast.
The KuKirin G2 is decent. The Ausom L1 might be a bit better for the same price, but they're similar. If you really value reliability then a Ninebot G30 or Ninebot G2 are where it's at, but they are smaller and slower, have less range, worse brakes and are in my opinion just nowhere as fun to ride. The Ninebots are very good commuter scooters (I'm pretty sure that they're waterproof too) but that means that they're an appliance. Made for reliability, but not fun. I like fun.
Get the ZT3. I have the GT3 and stability is much better than the G2.
With Ninebot advertised power means little. The G2 was advertised as 1000W but was actually 1350W on firmware 1.4.4 and 1250W on firmware 1.4.8.
I'm just happy this was an upgrade from the G2 that I had only briefly but also fits my urban commuting. Interesting how I can apply this to my own life where I'm used to living an unoptimized way but it could be better lol
When your buying a no suspension sub 500w clone scooter its hit and miss, I have seen them last 1000 miles like the guy below said. But mostly the battery is finished in a year to a year and a half. And a new battery is $100-200 depending on 36v 48v and ah's. But most people dont replace a $100-200 battery in a $200-350 scooter. Spend a few more bucks if you just want somthing small get a refurbished ninebot G30 or a new G2 ninebot makes most of these type scooters that the clones are made after. You can pick up a refurbished or even new nibebot you can get an E2 pro for low $400's g30 for mid 500s look on amazon and sites like best buy or Walmart they have factory refurbished units sometimes. I like bigger scooters but these are what all the crap ones are modeled after also xiaomi's same price range and quality. Most of these have better suspensions and brakes then clones by far. And they last much longer. Also sites like monorim sells tons of aftermarket upgrades from air suspension to better motors when your ready for an upgrade in the future. Lol I know your fine with it, everyone says that till a year later when your getting into it and want to add more quality. I am a disabled vet cant drive anymore so I bought one for transportation 5 years 6 scooters later 2 of which I basicly built. Turned into a pretty fun hobby even for a 50YO old man lol. https://preview.redd.it/wuh7nlh3ydjg1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d07c5f65eeb3bae05887b5c999216edde7fcc0cd Of few of the collection from someone who bought a $350 isinwheels no suspension scooter. Not driving i can go to Walmart and back 9 miles each way twice and still have a 1/4 battery left. Its not just a hobby its an addiction lol good luck either way no matter what you get. Make sure you get a full face helmet even if its just a 20mph scooter too easy to get hurt gloves and helmet is all I wear. On a 20mph you can getva cheap helmet $30-40 dont need anything crazy. In the time i have been riding it had 2 accidents both my first year. Good luck
