The main difference is the voltage. The pro has 48v and the gt3 says "standard"...since they are both 48v I'd assume the pro has a different controller. The pro has much better acceleration too which is more important than top speed in many cases. With the price being close I'd go with the pro...maybe even check out the st3 from Navee.
Both of these are absolute garbage. Get him a niu, ninebot, or navee. The lowest models are around the same price roughly.
Extremely cheap and "higher quality" do not got together here...but for 2.5 miles if you spend $500 you will be all set. Avoid the parts bin temu/amazon crap. It will not last. NIU or ninebot or navee. Either one will be fine for a rather short ride. My job is 6 miles away. At one point I had a go trax and I could get there in like 18 min....i do not recommend go trax though. You best bet is one the "N" brands.
Mine was <$300 after a store card deal but you can't buy it anymore. 6 mos. 1100 miles. I'd suggest stretching to $399 for a Navee GT3 or watching Amazon for a good price \~$300 for a Kukirin G2 regular (see price history).
I have the GT3 and the ST3 both i’ve been pretty happy with. Segway Ninebot E3 and Niu KQI 200p are probably better than the GT3 but i believe Navee gives you more value for your money. Not sure what you could compare the ST3 to specs wise its worse than the Segway Ninebot G3 Max, but i would go to bad for it over something like the NIU KQI 300x. The ST3 is pretty smooth to ride. The software is pretty limited. For example i wish i can cap how much it charges like Segway and Niu scooters can do. I had an issue with the GT3 where it wouldn’t turn on after messing with the electronic lock and i was able to get it to work again with help from Navee although they took a bit to get back to me (at least it felt like it)
Me and my scooting friends all have gt3s, but I have the pro and the others are just the standard. We don't really notice too much difference in power, but they all do fine with overpasses and normal hills. We have never found a hill that the gt3 can't handle, though it may slow a little.
Navee makes good stuff, but this is bottom of the line. I recommend getting something like a gt3 with some suspension.
I’ve only owned segway and navee brands, both have been good scooters although i do prefer Navee nowadays. Navee GT3 is about as entry level as you can get. I don’t recommend the scooter I own (s65) because it’s not easy to get anymore and it’s few years old, but he would love it. A Full suspension scooter will make his riding safer as well. Anything by Segway, Niu, Navee is going to be pretty reliable for entry level starter scooters (not insanely fast) but depending on your budget you may need something less
Navee gt3 for $399 from best buy beats that segway
I run an electric repair shop and do sales as well. I actually had a navee rep from china visit to try and stock their stuff. I was displeased with their demo model as the QC was sub par. Stripped and loose bolts. ON THE DEMO MODEL
I have navee and it’s horrible. It doesn’t go even half of the advertised distance (and I am not driving it uphill), charges unreliably, it’s also on the heavier side of what scooters weigh. The app also randomly locks you out..
If it doesn't explode the 1st time you plug it in to charge, for $150 this will be a steal. If you buy this with $150 expectations, I'm sure it will be a super scooter. A replacement TFT screen for my scooter alone costs as much as 2 of these. And while I'm sure it's sloooow, even a slow scooter will still be 5x plus faster than a person can walk. My last scooter broke and I was stuck walking until I got a new one. It's 1.5 miles to the nearest grocery store. I'd have loved a scooter like this over those 3 mile walks to get food lol.
Navee is good and quite bang for the buck. Having the s60 myself. Good for city driving and has good suspension.
I’ve had both, Segway is better quality hands down. Navee is still good though.
