I also have both, but to be honest with you, I am very disappointed in the 300x. I actually prefer their kqi3 max over it. For 1 I really dislike the twist throttle design. Twist throttle works great on a ebike, but doest work as well on a scooter because you riding on a scooter you need to maintain good balance and sometimes it causes your wrist to slight turn thus accidentally accelerating. So my rides on 300x is a little herky jerky. Also as a result of the twist throttle I don't use my right hand brake as well, because I can't keep fingers on brakes. Also the front suspension is a little stiff. As far as I know it can't be adjusted ( unlike the gmax2)
Does it have any faults? Because I have the NIU KQI 300X and I go up to 24 mph I'm just wondering how you can get this type of scooter for so cheap.
I have both just as you and also use the 100p as a backup when my 300X is dead and charging 🫡
Yes get the kqi 300x it's good. I have it. It has so many safety features that other brands neglect and I feel that's the most important thing with riding. It can do 3 MI in rough terrain within 15 minutes. I can literally get it across my entire city within 20 minutes and it's very liberating to only have to simply lock my scooter to a secure place or even be allowed to drag it into some stores and then instantly be out.
Although it is annoying to have my speed artificially limited when going downhill, I have never experienced that whole braking lurching me forward thing. Or maybe I have gotten so used to it I haven't noticed?
I love love my NIU KQI3 max. It can go up to 32km/h (38 if you unlock it in the app) no suspension, though. my longest ride on it has been 34Km at about 20km/h average. I got it for about 750$ Canadian dollars on sale; it goes on sale frequently. the NIU KQi300X is the upgrade and is pretty much the same but with front suspension.
I would go with the 300X.. I have its older brother, the KQI3 Max and its great.
Depends on what's important to you. Throttle/Regen brake response: Apollo would win this. Acceleration/Hill performance: Apollo Go Range/Battery: NIU KQI 300x Since you said your commute is only 5 miles, and if you had complaints about the twist throttle and braking, I would go for the Apollo Go. Just curious as well, have you tried using the cruise control on the scooter? On the NIU, I think you have to hold the throttle steady for 5 seconds before hearing a beep (needs app seeing change to enable though). On the Apollo, you can do something similar, hold the thumb throttle for a set number of seconds (customizable) or do a manual set (hold the left turn signal for 3 seconds, I find this much easier than holding a throttle steady). That might relieve your frustration of using the throttle constantly. If you were concerned about stem issues with Apollo, I have not seen it to be an issue with the Go, mostly seen it on the City (which had a recall with a thickened stem base), and the old Phantom.
I had a kqi for a similar commute and it was serviceable and not as expensive, but I recently upgraded to the G3 max and it was 100% worth it. Can't say about the climber. But the suspension and power are well worth the price diff on the G3 max.
I love my 300x. But I have one question for another 300x owner. When I enable regenerative braking, it works fine when I release the throttle. However, when I'm going downhill and could exceed my top speed, the throttle seems to disengage despite me holding it all the way. This is expected and fine. But it seems to also kick in the regenerative braking lurching me forwards for a split second, only to lurch me backward as it re-engages the accelerator. All this while holding the accelerator at 100%. I would rather it NEVER engage regen braking and let me coast UNTIL I fully release the accelerator, then begin regen braking when it's actually predictable. Habe you noticed this?
I am all for regen braking, but prefer only when I've released the throttle completely. Maybe a firmware update can fix it..
