I use a Niu for commuting and trips out to BK/Astoria like the back third of your trip. The Segway would also fit the bill here. 300lb weight capacity is a tough sell - most scooters top out at 265ish. Similarly, the RFK bridge ramp is a pain, since the bike assist infrastructure is minimal and very bike-focused so a scooter's smaller tires and lower-set profile can cause issues going up/down the stairs. r/ElectricScooters • Overwhelmed by options - Help me choose a reliable e-scooter for my NYC commute! ->I was debating between same two. Was leaning towards Climber because of hills near me, and reported issues with throttle on the Kqi3 Max. Ended up getting a combination sale+Amazon offer deal to get the NIU 300x for around $750. And it's amazing, use it close to 8 miles total in my commute and haven't used more than 35% battery yet doing that. If you find a good deal it might be worth the reach. If not then I think Climber if you have hills at all in your daily rides.
r/ElectricScooters • KQi3 Max or Climber? ->Hands down, the NIU KQi3 Max, or the 300x. They're basically the same scooter one just has front suspension and a very ever so slightly more powerful motor, by a HAIR. Both are under $1000, the Max often goes on sale for $600 and the 300x for $850. They both go almost 24mph (23.6), and have a really good range at 40 miles. These scooters will beat most everything in its class in almost all categories. Between me, some family and friends we have 4 NIU scooters and they're all amazing, specially for the price we paid for them (like not even $2,000 between all 4 scooters.) It's worth checking out, it's a solid competitor to the famous Ninebot MAX G2, but in my opinion better because higher to speed, and more range.
r/ElectricScooters • Could y'all recommend me a scooter from best buy. ->No that is the older model KQi1. The KQi100P and KQi100F(includes folding handlebars) are the new updated models that now include front suspension, the motor power was boosted from 250w to 300w, etc. Overall just a much better scooter. Not sure when the newer model will be on amazon.de its been out for a few months in the US, and I did see it from one seller in EU. Its still not on the EU NIU website either (https://shopeu.niu.com/) so my guess is they are still getting ready for wider EU availability. The NIU KQi3 Pro is currently on offer for €528 https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0B7P89SPZ/ that is worth considering, or take a look at the NIU KQi2, or slightly more expensive the newer NIU KQi300X https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0DGXLKH31/
r/ElectricScooters • Best scooter under $500? ->> The flammable and explosive nature of batteries poses potential risks during disassembly, especially for individuals lacking professional knowledge and skills. In certain countries you are required by law to sell all spare parts as owners have a right to repair their own scooters. The scooters are perfectly safe to repair by anyone with basic repair skills, since the battery is fully sealed and all the parts are plug and play. The only part that people should not mess with is the battery itself; and Nobody is asking you to sell individual battery cells or the BMS as such repairs should only be done by an experienced battery technician. But removing some screws and replacing a broken controller, a broken throttle or decorative plastic covers can be done by almost anyone with some basic DIY skills. My strong recommendation would be for NIU to sell all spare parts and make spare parts for all KQi scooters easily accessible either directly or through local and online scooter shops.
r/ElectricScooters • My honest 400 miles review of the NIU KQi Air ->It is excellent so far. I haven't had any issues. However, I only have about 100 miles on it, so that could change. I ordered a used KQI 2 for my girlfriend and needed to link it to the app, but it was linked to the previous owner's account; they were able to help me connect my girlfriend's scooter to her app, so they have been reliable
r/ElectricScooters • Get the Niu KQi3 Max ->Niu kqi 300x Love mine
r/ElectricScooters • Do people still buy name brands? ->For me, the most important feature of any of these scooters is always: "how easy is this thing to repair/source parts for?" I REALLY like this scooter. I love the look, I love the specs, I love how they basically just beat apollo at their own design and for half the cost. But the big problem seems to be that no one really knows they exist, and they're not really partnered with anyone. now say that suspension breaks, the tire pops and is unrepairable, the battery dies for no reason, any issues at all. you're stuck either trying to find parts to fix it yourself, or shipping it off to them and waiting for them to fix it. in my town, we have a scooter repair store that sells segway, niu, gotrax, and a bunch of other bigger badder scooter brands. since they sell these, they also source all the parts from the manufacturers and also do repair services for EVERY piece of them. might cost ya a little bit, but what would you rather do, buy the parts yourself and fight with the thing to get it fixed for days on end and maybe fail, or pay a hundo for some guys to resurrect your scooter for you? with the punk pro, chances are you will not have this option. on top of that, there's not enough data anywhere on the internet to know if these things aren't going to fall apart in 6 months time. ask yourself if that's super important to you, and if it is, go with something else. the kqi300x just came out, hits a lot of similar specs for the price, they sell them at best buy, and tons of shops repair those. even all segway scooters like the g2 max, also super easy to source parts for and get repaired at shops all over the place.
r/ElectricScooters • Punk Rider Pro, real? Even decent? ->Over 40, and ride mine just to cruise around. Hit up breweries and the trail system around me. Have been riding a vsett 8 for around 3 years now. Top speed around 23mph which is plenty fast for me. Never fell or had any issues. Strongly recommend.
