I just got the E2 E II for my wife to do 4-8km a day. We have cycling lanes and honestly, it's perfect πŸ‘Œ , it was on sale this Saturday for 230 USD.

You have the Razer E200 which is basic. 12mph for 45 minutes. Its the only escooter ive seen that can either be purchased with a seat or you can buy the accessory separately. Its $225 on sale on amazon, seatless, Also the segway ninebot kickscooter. They have several models ranging from 12mph to 15mph to 21mph. All have LED screens that say what mph you are going and can be folded in half for easy storage. The E2Plus (15mph) is $280 on amazon. Also has leds for visibility but im guessing hes not riding past dark. Unless you buy one of those segway "self balancing" scooters (they look *exactly* like those old fashioned segways mallcops used) there isnt much difference between them balance wise. It really depends on the rider. I can ride scooters and bikes but i cant ride with no hands or only one hand like alot of people...i tried once and swerved off the rode into a ditch. I also cant ride skateboards because they have no handlebars. Im terrible without something to hold.

I bought a Segway Ninebot E2 Plus II for my girlfriend to ride with me when I Onewheel around the neighborhood and she loves it! It was only $300 so I would recommend it or other similar models if you're not looking for higher speeds or specific features and weight under 200-lbs.

It's specifically meant for simple needs just like yours. If the scooter is indeed new and the battery healthy, I say go for it.

I would strongly disagree. As mentioned, the E22 is a derivative of the ES series. It's better built and fixes some of the ES's *many* problems, but retains some of the important ones, including the frankly backward concept of keeping all the electronics and heavy battery in the stem - where it screws up weight balance and makes it a nightmare for maintenance. The E2 has a more traditional build, but it's just weak. 24V powertrains shouldn't be included on anything larger than mini-scooters for kids. Ninebot are a mixed bag like that - they make some really great products, and at the same time some really crappy ones. I'm convinced the RnD department is split in two, or may actually be two branches of the company, and neither knows what the other one is up to. I can't otherwise explain how Ninebot are responsible for the scooter we most suggest (G30) and at the same time the scooter we most laugh at (ESx).

If you're planning on keeping the scooters as they age, I think the Segway E2 plus is the better buy. Note: They will eventually get bored of the top speed in their teens.

not everyone needs a high end $1500+ scooter. as someone who comutes daily around a 5mi radius around my city something cheap and easy like this is very attractive.

The Segway e2 will serve your purpose just fine, just try not to deliberately ride through deep rain puddles.

It all depends on your budget, commute, and how heavy you are. Tiny dude doing short trips on flat pavement? You can get something small like a Ninebot E2. I myself have the Apollo City 2023. It's got dual motors so can get my >90kg ass up hills and all the way to the city. I used to have the Ninebot Max G2. It was a solid scooter, just didn't have enough power for hills.

I’d go with the [Segway Ninebot](https://www.reddit.com/r/Calidad_Precio/comments/1j2ltqy/best_electric_scooters_for_college_in_2025/). It’s got great range, solid speed, and rides super smooth. Perfect for getting around campus without worrying about charging all the time. Segway is good but this is a kids' scooter. The weight limit is 50kg, so unless you're a preteen or a **very** small adult, this probably isn't the scooter for you. It's not built to handle an adult's weight, and it will feel slow even at top speed. The motor is only 260W. The Segway Ninebot line has good brand recognition, and a reputation for not needing much maintenance. But that comes at a premium. If you're on a budget, I'd go for a different brand. P.S. I assume this is in Canada. Your city [probably has scooter laws](https://apolloscooters.ca/blogs/news/electric-scooter-laws-2024-in-canada-everything-you-need-to-know) that limit you to around 25km/h or 500W (treating them as motorcycles past that in some cities, so you'll need a license and insurance). So it's most likely a bad idea to get something too expensive anyway; you're really only paying for more power past $800 or so. The one linked here is a good option.

Depending on your weight, and how hilly Ann Arbor is, I'd probably aim for a cheaper dual motor scooter - the Inmotion climber or the Kaabo Mantis 8 both come to mind. If you're lighter, or mostly in flat area, the Segway Ninebot line has a lot of happy users. You mention you're not handy - I'd advise learning just a little bit of maintenance on the scooter, since it really is easy to do and you don't have much else protecting you on one! Basic stuff like wiping it down when it gets dirty and checking/filling tire pressure will go a long way. You can pick up a cheap electronic air compressor that doubles as a power bank to help with that, and every manufacturer should have videos or writeups on regular maintenance. The big problem is that, unlike a bike, you probably don't have a shop you can take it to for repairs near you - even if there's a bike shop with ebike repairs, they don't necessarily service scooters too.

If it's just to commute to work get a Segway ninebot or NIU like most people.
