Segway - ES2

Good work, but to be honest that's definitely not how I shop. I've put in about 25,000 miles on electric scooters, and I've only owned two "name brands". Both were way back in the day with their earliest models (the Ninebot es2 was horrible). Everything else I've purchased would be considered non-name brands. My two main scooters right now are from AliExpress and I couldn't be happier. Sadly, options are going to change because of tariffs ... but I'll never buy anything from Ninebot, Apollo, etc. Much better bargains elsewhere if you know how to shop. I don't need to pay for a name.

Hardware-wise, most scooters can handle broken roads. I do them semi-routinely [on my old ES2/SNSC](https://i.imgur.com/ZE9hxJX.jpeg), which is quite possibly the least offroad-worthy vehicle ever to have been made; it's all about [keeping the correct stance](https://reddit.com/r/ElectricScooters/wiki/stance) so your legs absorb road imperfections instead of your spine and skull. Now mind you, I don't *suggest* you take broken roads on a half-sprung shit scooter with solid wheels like I do for fun - if nothing else because tiny wheels *really* like to grab potholes and flip you into the asphalt. What I'm saying is that most scooters will be able to take fairly broken roads without consequence, as long as you yourself are able to take the roughness. Something like Yer Average Max G30 would probably do it fairly satisfactorily, and you might find one in your price range. If you absolutely want suspension, then maybe you can find a second-hand G2 or P65 in decent condition. I say second-hand because at that price it's difficult to find new reliable scooters that have effective suspension on both forks; you'll find parts-bin scooters that do have both forks sprung - case in point: that Onvo you showed - but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be able to take bad roads any better. They'll feel a bit more comfortable, but their quality control is a complete unknown - maybe the suspension bottoms out all the time, maybe the welds are made of cheese, maybe the bolts never saw any threadlock, maybe the battery tab spotwelds are one good bump from snapping, maybe the whole thing was assembled by someone who partied too much the previous day, maybe you open the deck and [a ratnest of wiring explodes out at you](https://i.imgur.com/SsglPFc.jpeg). In fact, parts-bin scooters are known specifically for spontaneously unbolting themselves and shedding important bits as you ride, to the point we usually recommend to the users to take vital bolts out, threadlock them and put them back in. By now you can probably see why I'm recommending a quality unsprung scooter or a second-hand quality one with suspension, instead of a new parts-bin scooter like you're considering.

I have the ES2 and the solid rubber tires suck. Uneven surfaces have made me fall several times. The range is pretty low, you can get a battery pack added for almost the price of the scooter lol and i have seen people saying the errors caused by the batteries make them inoperable. I been looking at the TurboAnt X7 Max i can get 2 for 800$ and has more range than the ES2

What do you recommend, the ninebot has 0 also and stupid all hard rubber tires that have made me fall on uneven surfaces

I own 3, one of them is an ES1. The ES series are rickety pieces of shit. The only thing they have going for them is they are very portable and solid tires which means no flats. The ride is horrible, the acceleration is horrible, they have no hill climbing ability and for that you suffer. 

There was with the Segway ES series, but not really anymore.  There’s no money in it for them. Their profit margins are way better with 100lb scooters with massive batteries, suspensions, that go 50+ mph

If I were you, I would pay attention to small scooters weighing up to 14 kg, such as Ninebot ES, Xiaomi m365 or analogues. It is better to consider scooters with inflatable tires, they need to be monitored more, but the trips will be more comfortable. With your small weight, if you ride mainly on sidewalks and asphalt, then if there are inflatable wheels, there is no point in suspensions. With your small weight, most suspensions will not add much comfort, but the presence of a suspension in the scooter adds weight to it. Also pay attention to the dimensions, it will be inconvenient to bring a large scooter into the bus / subway. As a person who works physically, carrying heavy loads every day, wearing a scooter weighing even 24 kg is not a pleasure. I don't even recommend a scooter weighing 19 kg to you, it's not just hard, but it can lead to back injuries. If you don't work as a loader, then you won't really like carrying even 14 kg every day. I judge by the example of girls I know who are uncomfortable lifting a Ninebot es4 weighing 14.5 kg, but a xiaomi m365 weighing 12 kg is calmly lifted to the 3rd floor.

All of this. Friends don't let friends buy ES-model scooters. In addition to being awful scooters, they're unrelaible! Lose lose!

Please understand there is zero circumstance a scooter with those battery specs (in either watt hours, or in amp hours depending upon the voltage) is going 28 miles. It's a sad secret of the scooter industry, across brands and price ranges, that in the real world, scooters typically get 50-70% manufacturer range. Also, sidenote, the Ninebot ES-line of scooters have terrible reputations for being bad scooters in addition to be unreliable. Maybe you'll get lucky, but I wouldn't risk it on this thing. Why Walmart, and what's your budget? Maybe we can give better recommendations. Edit to add: yes, scooters for most people are "worth it" to answer your main question. But unless I have exactly zero other options, I would never buy this one from Walmart. You asked two very different questions and kind of mixed them together.

I have an emtb and had a decent Segway scooter (dual suspension on both. both at the same time). The scooter is less effort to ride at 20kph. I only sold it as it wasn’t legal at the time. For commuting about, 100% a scooter is comfier and less sweaty.
