I agree with this route. My es2 did me going 5+ miles a day but I was 250lbs plus a back pack. So the double battery is a good idea.
With your weight, almost any adult scooter is suitable for you. Given the short travel distance, scooters with small batteries are also suitable. I would consider Ninebot scooters, as they have more reliable electronics, and the mechanical parts are also quite reliable. For example, Ninebot scooters Es series (Es1, Es2, Es4), F series(F25, F35, F45), G30, G2 (used ones can be bought for $ 300, and this would be the best solution for the money), E2. Of all the scooters listed, the Es series has a folding mechanism, which makes it easier to store it leaning against the wall, placing it on the front wheel, and using a wall mount. Other scooters can also be stored in this way, but due to the design features, they will bulge strongly from the wall, and it is not very convenient to put them on 1 wheel. Xiaomi scooters also performed well, such as the m365, m365 pro, etc. Inexpensive kukirin scooters can also be considered, but they often have mechanical problems, and the electrics sometimes fail, although due to their mass production, spare parts for them are cheaper than for other scooters.
If I were you, I would pay attention to small scooters weighing up to 14 kg, such as Ninebot ES, Xiaomi m365 or analogues. It is better to consider scooters with inflatable tires, they need to be monitored more, but the trips will be more comfortable. With your small weight, if you ride mainly on sidewalks and asphalt, then if there are inflatable wheels, there is no point in suspensions. With your small weight, most suspensions will not add much comfort, but the presence of a suspension in the scooter adds weight to it. Also pay attention to the dimensions, it will be inconvenient to bring a large scooter into the bus / subway. As a person who works physically, carrying heavy loads every day, wearing a scooter weighing even 24 kg is not a pleasure. I don't even recommend a scooter weighing 19 kg to you, it's not just hard, but it can lead to back injuries. If you don't work as a loader, then you won't really like carrying even 14 kg every day. I judge by the example of girls I know who are uncomfortable lifting a Ninebot es4 weighing 14.5 kg, but a xiaomi m365 weighing 12 kg is calmly lifted to the 3rd floor.

> Ngl a lot of that sounds like copium. Copium for what? I'm not a Ninebot fanboy (I don't even *have* any Ninebots more recent than an old ES2, incidentally the worst scooter they ever made) and don't have a burning need to defend them. Feel free to hate them if you want; it's a strange hill to die on, but you do you. What I'm not getting is why you're being all butthurt about Ninebot scooters instead of just... not buying them. They're not for everyone, and in particular they're not for people looking to crack their skull open, so they're clearly not for you. We can acknowledge this without having to argue about it. > No one normal is going to strap an extra battery to their ninebot which will compromise its perceived safety. They're literally the ones people add battery to most often. You clearly haven't done a search about adding battery to M365 and G30 scooters.
Unreliable, uncomfortable and a badly thought-out design in general. They were terrible even when they were new and time has done nothing to improve on that. I wouldn't suggest getting one even if it was free, and I'm not exaggerating for comedic effect.
I have the ES2 and the solid rubber tires suck. Uneven surfaces have made me fall several times. The range is pretty low, you can get a battery pack added for almost the price of the scooter lol and i have seen people saying the errors caused by the batteries make them inoperable. I been looking at the TurboAnt X7 Max i can get 2 for 800$ and has more range than the ES2
What do you recommend, the ninebot has 0 also and stupid all hard rubber tires that have made me fall on uneven surfaces
I got this exact setup for my commute last year! Was taking metro then scooting about 2 miles to my gym location. Ended up with the Ninebot ES2 - it's like 27 pounds and folds super easy. Battery lasts way longer than you'd need for 4 miles, probably could do it 3-4 times before charging. Only thing is make sure to check if your metro allows scooters during rush hour, some lines get weird about it in the mornings. Also get used to folding/unfolding it smooth before you start commuting because doing it awkwardly with bunch of people around is embarrassing lol
For that distance and weight the Xiaomi Mi 1S or Ninebot ES2 are solid budget picks that won't fall apart on you - both handle short commutes like a champ and you can usually snag them used for pretty cheap
I have been using the Ninebot ES2 Segway scooter since January 2020 ( covid ) It has been 6 years and finally I have now upgraded to the Xiaomi Scooter 6. Wow, what a difference. Going from 8” to 12” wheels has been a game changer. It’s like i’m just gliding. I’m constantly getting 15mph, where as any sort of wind resistance would cause me to drop speeds on the ES2. Even though it’s heavy and large, i’ve still been able to easily bring the scooter with me into a supermarket such as Tesco or a corner shop. See you later ES2, it survived and treated me well for 6 years!
Honestly, ninebot quality is 10/10. I did have issues with my ES2 - Error 21 / Error 14 but I had the scooter for 6 years. It did its job. I woulda gone for another ninebot scooter but since the Xiaomi scooter 6 just came out last month pretty much with the 12" wheels, i thought yeah i like that haha
With the ES2, i felt everything and also it was very risky to go over anything that wasn't flat. I fell 2 or 3 times as a result. Now, it's actually like butter. Naturally you still need to be safe and aware but I feel more confident to take risks. It is scarier to ride due to the size difference, but that's just a matter of getting used to it.
Also got es4 in 2020, has driven 6000km. Upgraded to F3 Pro last year.
also had my first es4 replaced under warranty because of error 21. my second never ever been serviced and I sold it for 100$
