Hi, having tested the two brands on two models roughly similar to when I started and now riding in hyper trot, I will try to give you my opinion. The Xiaomi is very good value for money, indeed as another comment says it has a superior battery but honestly between the two you will gain like 5km; honestly you can't even count it as an advantage. Concerning its power, both are already light, but it remains below. The drum brake can be an advantage as well as a defect, less maintenance but less qualitative braking. If you're not used to it, it's very good because braking that is too optimal (dry) could send you into trouble. In general, the Xiaomi, like all their products, are very good value for money. The specs are good for this kind of price. However, on this specific example, I would lean more towards the segway, from my experience On this model, it has slightly more power, better braking, and above all exceptional reliability. I rode a Segway for 3 years before encountering a problem that wasn't even a problem. My Xiaomi lasted 2 years before having a drop in battery. I was even able to ride in the rain countless times, there is no official IPX but the finish is so clean that it replaces the certification. Concerning the application however, it is limited compared to that of Xiaomi. Verdict? If you are looking for classic, very good value for money with a slightly better battery: take the Xiaomi If you are looking for reliability, finish and overall the best quality, take the Segway 40€ difference for higher quality is really advantageous. If when you want to buy the difference between the Xiaomi and the Segway is 100€, it is no longer worth it. Here I hope I was easily understood. Once again this is just my experience, we don't have everything the same. Even if I preferred Segway, I was not disappointed with the Xiaomi. Your two choices are in agreement with your research in all cases.

I’m using Segway F2-2. It’s fine but a little bit big for me (I’m 5’2, 55kg). The scooter is lightweight but can be wiggly when it’s very windy. I always use the sport mode so I can only go around 25km after fully charged.

Rent wise (bird, uber, lime) they’re probably all the same. Long term, buying a scooter was such a great investment for getting around campus without a car. I personally use a Segway Ninebot (F2) scooter.

I literally traded in my F2 for a Max G2 yesterday. HUGE improvement!! Way more pickup speed and it’s smooth. I was bumping everywhere on the F2

Solid advice on the Ninebot - I've had my G30 for like 2 years and it's been bulletproof, just heavy as hell to carry around. The F2 series is way more portable if you need to lug it up stairs or whatever

Stay away from the Ninebot "Segway" F2. It has no shock absorbing at all. Your spine will thank me.

I have a ninebot F-SE(F2) and have been enjoying it until my vmax arrives. It has held up to constant riding daily for a few weeks now and I'm 170lbs. Love this little scooter, and will keep using it even after my new one arrives. This thing is super light and can be carried through a store.

I can also vouch for ninebot. I have an f2 that I have absolutely ridden like I stole it. Great scooter for the price

r/ElectricScootersA choice between the two?

I have an f2 and a E kick from ninebot. I do believe you're paying a little bit for the ninebot name, but from my experience it's worth it. I picked up an F2 that had only been rode 4 times by the previous owner for $200 (a steal) on marketplace. The build quality is definitely there, I absolutely love the f2. It's not even in the same league as my new vmax, yet I still use it for trips I can't bring the max inside or if it's rough riding. I'm 170 and ride the scooters like I stole them. Our Gotrax is also solid reliability wise, as my 8 yrs old nephew hasn't destroyed it yet, despite trying his hardest lol

I have a ninebot and they are very solid for the price. Ignore anyone saying they are overpriced. No on the Apollo Go. I have a VMAX V2 Hub and I absolutely love it. Extended range, it's a monster

I have the Segway F2 and this thing is a tank. 300 miles in and she has been a loyal buddy to me. It has traction control for slippery weather, apple findmy so you can locate the scooter and a bunch of other cool shit in the app. It goes 19 MPH and that is FANTASTIC! Make sure to wear HELMET!!!!

Had a few for our teens. Xiaomi Elite Max goes for ages and doesn't go fast - perfect for someone getting to school and back etc. Eldest now has an F2 and really good. Invest in a decent D-Lock with code - kids never remember keys and scooters are stolen in seconds but haven't had one stolen with a dlock. Best of luck!

Can't help you about reviews, but I *can* tell you - from the tech specs and from user reports here - that E-series Ninebots below the E3 Pro aren't actually very good. They have weak powertrains and tiny ranges and they'll choke on any uphill; personally I'd avoid them all. The E3 Pro specifically is the only one with a half-decent powertrain; I'd imagine that's why people have more things to say about it. I *would* choose a Xiaomi 5 before any E-series, but I'd choose a Ninebot F3, cheaper F2, or even the older G30 before the Xiaomi 5.

It depends on how much DIY work you're comfortable doing. If you're at ease with wrenches and soldering irons, then you can get whatever cheapie is sold in your department store and probably be happy with it (though I'd still recommend avoid solid tires for reasons explained here: http://reddit.com/r/electricscooters/wiki/solidtires). I'd avoid the Aliexpress bottom-of-the-barrel stuff; they're typically exactly the same as department store cheapies, but battery quality is a complete unknown and they have very little liability. At least if you buy from Target or something you can bring it back to them if it croaks. If you do *not* want to put in any work, then get a Ninebot E3 Pro or F3. The older G30 and F2 are also excellent options.
