I would get the Segway F2 Pro for comfort. If you wanna have some fun riding, I would look into the KuKirin G2 Master. I don’t know the prices in the US, but in my country I can find a new one for around 830$. It has a massive top speed and dual 1000W motors. It is a bit on the heavy side, though

Just be careful with the range bc their estimate is based on a75kg person riding 12km/hr in eco mode on flat bitumen. That does not reflect how I ride my scooter. I have an f2pro &it's range is 55km. I get about 27- 30km (&that's using regen battery at medium &sports mode set to normal) bc I have steep hills& I use drive or sports travelling 20-25km/hr but you'll love it. It's so much fun

Had a Gyroor that was bought in May 2023. It had issues, I wrote them and asked where I could find replacement parts. They said the line has been discontinued and no parts exist soooo… never doing that again. I want a scooter brand that is easy to find parts on. We bought a Segway Ninebot F2 Pro and so far love it more. Better handling, rides higher, app that works, no card to unlock the scooter, smooth ride.

looks like it has a single motor "With its **powerful 450-watt motor**" unless Im wrong I would say this would not be a great hill climber.

yeah, I see what you mean it does say "Its **powerful 450-watt motor with a max output of 900 watts**" its possible it can peak at higher watt, but in my experience this is only slightly more powerful than a lime scooter. I would go dual motor for sure.

I use an F2 plus to get around the CBD and my local area. Handles hills reasonably well and has a decent battery capacity. It’s great provided you don’t ride on any cracked/uneven ground as it has no suspension and it gets ROUGH! F2 Pro could be a good call as it’s 450w and has front suspension.

I've been using the F2 Pro for about 9 months, taking it on the subway, trains, and buses. I ride it almost everywhere—I hardly walk anymore, so my legs have gotten weak! :) It's lightweight and easy to load/unload onto vehicles, (I have a spinal hernia so I care) as well as lift onto and off pavements without ramps. The hanging hook on the back of the stem is a lifesaver for carrying market bags, backpacks with haul loops, and more. The only downside (for me) is that it has a peak power of 900W, allowing it to handle inclines of up to 22%. Meanwhile, the F3 Pro can handle 24%. This is a very subjective issue because I regularly visit a place with a \~22% slope ramp, and I can't reach the top without zigzagging in the last 10 meters. :) Other than that, it's a great scooter. The 40 km range is more than sufficient for city use. I will upgrade to the F3 Pro if it has a good price when it's released. # Key Changes from F2 Pro to F3 Pro: 1. **Peak Power:** * **F2 Pro:** 900W * **F3 Pro:** 1200W * **Increase in Peak Power:** \+300W (+33.33%) 2. **Range:** * **F2 Pro:** 55 km * **F3 Pro:** 70 km * **Increase in Range:** \+15 km (+27.27%) 3. **Weight:** * **F2 Pro:** 18.5 kg * **F3 Pro:** 19 kg * **Increase in Weight:** \+0.5 kg (+2.7%) 4. **Battery Capacity:** * **F2 Pro:** 460 Wh * **F3 Pro:** 477 Wh * **Increase in Battery Capacity:** \+17 Wh (+3.7%)

65 YO here, I have an Apollo ghost - dual 1000w motors. I started with a Segway F2 pro and it wouldn't get me up the hills where I live hence the scooter / power upgrade. I cant recommend Apollo based on their after sales service and support - but the Ghost is based on the Unicool / Titan VDM 10 and there are a few versions around and a lot of bang for the dollar. I am a mountain biker and would say I am much safer on the MTB at speed than the scooter so I don't hammer it unless the conditions are perfect. That said - I think the biggest safety factors - apart from avoiding stupidity - are to learn how to shift your weight and centre of gravity around when braking or accelerating and go for hydraulic disk brakes for controllable braking - rather than mechanical disks. It's fun and much easier to transport for me than the MTB.

I have been using F2 Pro for about 1000 km. Mine is limited to 25 km/h. I am generally very pleased. I especially wanted it to be relatively light. (I have to carry it to the 3rd floor all the time) A shock absorber at the front wouldn't be bad either. It also gives what I want in terms of range and power. I find "limited power" suitable for a scooter. Very fast / very powerful scooters are a total madness. Positive aspects; first of all, it works properly. The quality of the materials is excellent and it seems sure to stay that way for a long time. It has a relatively high engine power compared to its weight. I think it is one of the best among single-motors. It is easy to fold and carry. The right and left signals are quite bright. (I wish it worked like hazard lights but no). Most importantly, the lock that opens from the device screen. You can't go directly by pressing the unlock button. You have to enter the password on the device first. This is very useful in terms of security, especially so that they don't tamper with it. It also has a built-in alarm. And this scooter have Apple find my device support. As for the bad features; Even though the front shock absorber works well, there is a little gap and it makes noise. It is not noticeable when using it, but it is there. It takes 6-7 hours to charge. This is too long. I wish this model had a built-in charger like the Max g2. In general, I think it is a product that can be purchased within its price range. I do not know if more can be purchased in this price range, except for noname brands.

As long as you don't jump off curbs all the time you'll be fine. There is a plastic piece that holds the spring together that you can replace if it ever breaks. Mine broke which is why it makes a weird sound. I don't hear the sound when I'm riding unless I'm jumping on it on purpose.

The F2 pro is alright but kind of disappointing in terms of range. I get like 16 miles on a charge and the thing takes 8 hours to charge! I can't wait that long lol. If your fine with the range and the charge then it's a good option to have. The handlebars are really wide as well.

As someone who was in the area and had an F2 Pro (before it got stolen), I’m going to say neither. The F2 Pro, on average, would get 10~14 miles around the city when avoiding hills in general. Given the hills, trying to get any where in downtown to the Presidio and back will likely drain your battery to 0 before you make the full trip back home (especially if the battery wasn’t at 100% from the start of the trip). So the F2 Pro’s battery will definitely not be good enough for more than just short trips around town. But I will say that the ride in general was pretty smooth, even on the bad parts of Market. The G2 Max will likely go a little further, but at that weight, carrying it in any capacity would be terrible. It should be able to climb the hills better than the F2 Pro though and will generally ride better around the city. You will definitely not be able to make a round trip across [more than half the] town on a full charge though. Even if you take the wiggle to reduce the hills as you travel. Taking either on the BART/MUNI will also suck as they _both_ don’t have folding handles and even the F2 Pro was difficult to travel with (due to it’s general size) and people bumping into the handles. When you fold either of them up and try to hold them vertically - due to their fenders or shape, you can’t actually hold them up straight; so every time the train/bus stops, you’ll be lurched in whatever direction the scooter is leaning. Which will be super difficult to deal with on those crowded rides. My recommendation? Either: - get two scooters (a long range dual motor scooter that has at least 20ah battery should be able to make a complete round trip across the city on a full charge), and a light weight scooter (something properly portable with foldable handles) for those “last mile” commutes / quick trips under a few miles away round trip. - optimize for one, but not both. While you can find long range (lighter weight scooters), none of them can go the distance in SF because of the hills. Anything that *can* handle the hills and provide you that range will be too bulky to (easily) take on public transport. Final tip: Alien Rides, fluodfreeride, Last Mile and a few other shops are around town and allow you to test drive their models before buying a new one. I’d recommend you give it a go - especially if you’re still looking to take one on public transit. Go there and ask to hold one up / deal with one as if you’re commuting to see if you can deal with it before buying anything for commuting.

I live in SF and owned one. Assuming you live in a similarly hilly area, I was regularly able to get between 10 ~ 12 miles on it at top speed/sport mode. It didn’t do great at the steeper hills, but for its weight, it did pretty well. The ride overall was also pretty smooth for a solid tire. They also regularly go on sale, so avoid buying it at full price! Alternatives: fluid Mosquito or NIU KQi Air.

Seems like everything was better on the max g2 except for the weight. Oh and the pro came with a bag hook that I really liked. That being said, I just hated how bulky the g2 was for my need (carrying it upstairs quite often). The F2 pro was lighter and felt more nimble, and for almost half the price ($600 vs $1000), it just made more sense. The range drop (22 miles vs 25 miles at high speed) wasn’t a big deal. I do miss the suspension a bit, but I mostly ride on paved roads. Oh and I thought the f2 pro was visually better looking, and less of a target for thieves. Overall, very happy with the F2 pro.

Really depends on how and where she intends to ride it. I probably spoiled myself by going for a fully suspended one on my first purchase (the Max G2) and when I tried a friend's F2 Pro,on somewhat degraded roads, it felt like I was going to damage my spinal cord lol, lack of back suspension really shakes you like a tree.

I've had my F2 Pro for over a month now and I love it. The key I've found with these scooters (G30P, F2 Pro) is to keep the tires properly inflated around 50 PSI. My tires were underinflated and I couldn't fathom why the scooter didn't accelerate faster, last long on a single charge or climb hills until I fixed that one issue.

My commute home includes a train ride plus a 20-minute walk that has an uphill part and a short gravel / dirt road. So after watching some reviews I decided the F2 pro was the perfect balance between portability and power. Here's my experience so far. The scooter handles gravel much better than I expected. No issues at all. I'm glad I didn't go for the Max G2, I'm sure the rear suspension would add to the comfort but I'm perfectly fine with what I have and the lower weight was more important to me. Also I'm really glad for the traction control feature as I heard it kicking in a few times on dirt. I don't even understand why is it off by default, I switched it on in the app immediately. Unfortunately riding uphill was a disappointment. They advertise 120 kg max payload and 22% max incline. Now I'm around 100 kg and the steepest incline on my route is 18% and it can't make it up. I wasn't expecting full speed, but I was hoping to be able to get to the top without help. It's not happening unfortunately, so you should set your expectations based on this. But overall I'm glad with the scooter, it's still a huge help with my commute and actually pretty fun to ride. Now my biggest issue is that I can't remove the 25 km/h limit because it was on the latest firmware out of the box, so I'm hoping for a solution soon lol. 25 is fine but I would actually feel safer in traffic if I could speed up to 30-32.

One funny thing, I found the setting "abnormality alert" in the app. It says "audible and visual alarm in case of abnormal vibrations". I was like cool, this will alert me if something's wrong with the tires or brakes or whatever. Nope, that's the anti-theft alarm. 😄 I was confused for a minute, not understanding why the scooter beeps at me when I move it.

1. I'm sure it adds to its range, I think the app estimates around 35-37km range with a full charge in sport mode. But I'm a heavier guy, often climbing hills with the scooter, and those are more serious factors on range I think. But I don't measure the actual distance I travel between charges, I just plug it in when it's low, so I can't really help you with that, sorry. 2. I'm definitely experiencing this unfortunately. Under 30% battery the performance starts to drop. It's not a big issue on flat roads, it maybe takes a second or so more to reach the top speed; but the hill climbing suffers a great deal. It kinda sucks because the last part of my commute is uphill, so if I reach it with less than 30% battery, it won't carry me up anymore, I have to help it out with a few kicks, even on slight elevations. But again, I'm around 100kg plus my clothes and backpack, so I get it. All things considered, I'm happy with the scooter. I wish it was a bit stronger but I guess it would then also be heavier and more expensive. I'm especially glad for the turn signals, I thought it's a gimmick but I ended up using it all the time and it really makes my ride in traffic safer.

No, I didn't notice it getting any stronger. But I kind of adjusted my expectations - it can still take me up on somewhat steep inclines, only the steepest part was too much under my weight. My sister in-law who's much lighter than me tried it and she managed to get all the way up. So I think it can manage 22% hills with full battery, under someone around 60 kg, and slowly. Still pretty impressive considering the size and price.

Remember that the claimed range on ALL scooters, even from reputable manufacturers is BS. It's based on an ideal set of conditions and rider decisions that will never ever be replicated in the real world. Cut the claimed range in half and you'll be very close to the actual range. If you're some combination of light, slow, and avoid any kind of an incline you might get 60%. A gravel road is pretty light duty off road so any quality scooter with suspension and non solid tires will do just fine. Lots of people recommending one of the Wolf variants and that's not a bad choice. They're good scooters and good quality/performance for the money. My only hesitation is that they have MORE off road capabilty than you need, which isn't in itself a bad thing, but they are big bulky and heavy, so if portability is an issue you might want to consider that. Honestly, any of the scooters that you listed is going to do fine. If the rest of your riding is going to be on the street, I might lean more towards the Mukata or one of the higher spec Mantis models if you like Kabbo. More biased for street riding in a lighter, more nimble package with a lower center of gravity at the cost of suspension travel. Yume is hard to beat in terms of bang for the buck, but they cost less and it shows up in the fit and finish as well as some of the components, like using generic battery cells. Really good value for the money, just a little bit rough around the edges. "Built like a tank" also means "heavier than it needs to be." Still, they tend to give you a generous helping of scooter for your money. I like Segway, but I don't think they have a model that works well for your use case. They just released a model called the ZT3 Pro, which can be had on sale for about $950, but it's a single engine (fairly stout, but still only one) with a firmware limited top speed of 25. Some very nice features, like traction control and big 11 inch self healing tires, beefy shocks and some bells and whistles. In an ideal world at some point theyll release a dual motor version of this model. Other than the P100, Segways have great build quality, features, reliability and ergonomics. None of these things really show up on a performance datasheet and judging strictly by that metric and factoring in cost, they're midpack. I have a GT2 which is the 6th scooter I've owned and I really like it, but it probably isn't the best choice here. It's heavy, not particularly cheap and while the suspension is fantastic, it's more set up for the street. You can get about the same performance from a wolf warrior x for almost $1000 less and you're only giving up a little bit in terms of performance in a package with more of an off road bias. The GT1 is the single engine version that's still good for 38 mph, but still heavy and more of a street machine. A gravel roads and trail riding are well within its capabilities and the ride quality and stability is sublime. Still, single engine. For off road, I would rather have two smaller motors rather than one big one.

meh, speed isn't everything. I'd rather have something reliable that I know is going to work every time I turn it on, and it's affected by things like rain. That said, Segways are extremely reliable, g30p is about $600 now, G2Max has been available recently for $799 and it adds suspension and little higher top speed as well as blinkers. The f2pro might hit that $500ish price point too.

Depends on the overall budget though. College students don't necessarily want to sent or have the money to spend on a higher end scooter, esp when there are decent dependable scooters that may not go 50mph with a range of 90 miles. College students are going to have issues of storage and theft as primary concerns. So spending over $1k for something that could easily grt stolen makes zero sense. You're really better of getting something that is cheaper and reliable and speed doesn't have to be king nor does everyone want speed to be king. Add that it has zero to do with masculinity as you're trying to make it put to be. You're not a little girl if you don't want to go 50mph+, you just want a quicker commute and do it safely. Some people have balance issues and the faster you go the more dangerous it becomes. So something like those entry/mid level segways are amazing options because they aren't made for speed but dependability. And no, it doesn't have to be a tradeoff, but often times is.

Segway is good but this is a kids' scooter. The weight limit is 50kg, so unless you're a preteen or a **very** small adult, this probably isn't the scooter for you. It's not built to handle an adult's weight, and it will feel slow even at top speed. The motor is only 260W. The Segway Ninebot line has good brand recognition, and a reputation for not needing much maintenance. But that comes at a premium. If you're on a budget, I'd go for a different brand. P.S. I assume this is in Canada. Your city [probably has scooter laws](https://apolloscooters.ca/blogs/news/electric-scooter-laws-2024-in-canada-everything-you-need-to-know) that limit you to around 25km/h or 500W (treating them as motorcycles past that in some cities, so you'll need a license and insurance). So it's most likely a bad idea to get something too expensive anyway; you're really only paying for more power past $800 or so. The one linked here is a good option.

Depending on your weight, and how hilly Ann Arbor is, I'd probably aim for a cheaper dual motor scooter - the Inmotion climber or the Kaabo Mantis 8 both come to mind. If you're lighter, or mostly in flat area, the Segway Ninebot line has a lot of happy users. You mention you're not handy - I'd advise learning just a little bit of maintenance on the scooter, since it really is easy to do and you don't have much else protecting you on one! Basic stuff like wiping it down when it gets dirty and checking/filling tire pressure will go a long way. You can pick up a cheap electronic air compressor that doubles as a power bank to help with that, and every manufacturer should have videos or writeups on regular maintenance. The big problem is that, unlike a bike, you probably don't have a shop you can take it to for repairs near you - even if there's a bike shop with ebike repairs, they don't necessarily service scooters too.

Yeah Segway is the least risky option.  You can also look at Niu, although none of their kick scooters have rear suspension so long rides on rough pavement can be tiring.  If your roads aren't very smooth I would strongly recommend a scooter with front and rear suspension.   keep in mind that advertised range is much shorter than real life range unless you have perfect conditions and ride at slower speeds.
