Had mine for 5 years now , no issues , haven’t done any maintenance , I don’t ride much but my other friend has 10,000kms on it and still going strong . Just replaced both tires that’s it.
r/ElectricScooters • Is the Segway Ninebot Max G30 still worth it in 2025? ->I have the same G30 and have put over 7000+ miles on mine on NYC streets. With normal maintenance, these things will go the distance and last a long time. The air filled tires will offer some cushioning for those style of brick path but it depends on what you are expecting. I personally would be fine. If you are concerned about vibration/comfort, I highly recommend going for something with suspension like the G2. The price is OK, how is the mileage of the scooter?
r/ElectricScooters • Is the Segway Ninebot Max G30 still worth it in 2025? ->It and the G30 are tanks. The G2's suspension does mean it's heavier and there's more stuff that can break, but it's not *usually* a problem. This is a good moment to remind you that Ninebot have sold *thousands upon thousands* of G2s. Doubting it because of one video is like doubting a car because one dude somewhere had a radiator leak, or something. No product is perfect and acceptable defect rates are a thing. Additionally, an amount of play that small definitely wouldn't stop me riding it. To be honest, I probably wouldn't even be arsed putting the scooter up on the stand to fix it.
r/ElectricScooters • So what's the consensus on the Ninebot Max G2 nowadays? ->Can't help you about reviews, but I *can* tell you - from the tech specs and from user reports here - that E-series Ninebots below the E3 Pro aren't actually very good. They have weak powertrains and tiny ranges and they'll choke on any uphill; personally I'd avoid them all. The E3 Pro specifically is the only one with a half-decent powertrain; I'd imagine that's why people have more things to say about it. I *would* choose a Xiaomi 5 before any E-series, but I'd choose a Ninebot F3, cheaper F2, or even the older G30 before the Xiaomi 5.
r/ElectricScooters • Ninebot E3 Review? No Videos or Reviews Online ->It's the original ultra-reliable tank. It has two flaws: relatively slow maximum speed even unrestricted, and no suspension. Aside from that, it's basically the perfect urban cruiser on the cheap. Now, whether the lack of suspension is a problem depends on your tolerance. Personally I have zero problems with that setup, and for relatively slow urban commuters actually prefer unsprung wheels because they're lighter and have less stuff that can break. But my tolerance *is* relatively high, so make of that what you will. As for speed, I find it good enough for city riding. You can mod a G30 for more speed, but it's a significant expense and DIY effort and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.
r/ElectricScooters • Is the Segway Ninebot Max G30 still worth it in 2025? ->The G3's battery is a bit bigger than the G30's but the scooter is so much more powerful that range is drastically reduced.
r/ElectricScooters • Commuter Scooter? ->I just got this same scooter for $310. My commute is 14 miles round trip on a variety of terrains. I guess something with shocks would be more comfortable, but I have no complaints about the ride quality. The tires do a decent job of soaking some of the vibration. My general opinion is that this is the best value scooter you can get and it is “name brand”, so it’ll hold value, if you don’t like it, just flip it to someone else for $300. This is a whole lot of scooter for only $300.
r/ElectricScooters • Is the Segway Ninebot Max G30 still worth it in 2025? ->I’ve had mine for 2 years now and all I did was upgrade the suspension cause I ride mine everywhere if I can and it’s held up
r/ElectricScooters • Is the Segway Ninebot Max G30 still worth it in 2025? ->Look at ninebot g30s. I have beaten the absolute shiiit out of mine and it Is still going very strong. It's actually significantly more durable than my $1.8k Apollo city pro. Just no where near as fun
r/ElectricScooters • Is the Inmotion S1 good for my first electric skateboard? ->It’s a fantastic scooter; robust, simple, and reliable. My only complaint on mine is the 19 mph top speed can feel a bit slow on longer straight roads, but as soon as you are on a tighter path it feels quite fast. No suspension is up to personal preference in my opinion; it’s going to be less maintenance and less things to go wrong, but it can be a rough ride when hitting bumps in the road. The tires do help with this somewhat. I don’t think you can go wrong with it. I would take a look at the G2 and G3 and see if the suspension and higher speed is something you care about. But as a workhouse, I think it’s tough to beat the G30. Even if I upgraded to something faster with suspension, I’d still wanna keep my G30 around.
r/ElectricScooters • Is the Segway Ninebot Max G30 still worth it in 2025? ->Segway Ninebot Max. Get the G30 or a refurb if you can't afford the highest version. These are excellent commuter scooters. Also look at NIU scooters too. If you can, try to save up a bit more for something in the $800-900 range. You won't be paying for gas, maintenance, insurance, or parking. So it's going to be a massive deal Gotrax is okay.
r/ElectricScooters • Best electric scooter for daily work commute? ->Ninebot in S tier? Their g30 and g2 models are good and stable but you all you get is a scooter which is not breaking. Which is fine but theres nothing more to it then a simple scooter going 25kph. Get to B Tier
r/ElectricScooters • My e-scooter brand ranking of 2024 after riding for 3 years, thoughts? ->Yes mine does 40 kph but still waaaay to expsenive
r/ElectricScooters • My e-scooter brand ranking of 2024 after riding for 3 years, thoughts? ->Lots of used segway g30's and g2's on the market since the g3 shipped this week. My advice, save an extra 100 and pick up one of those, or come up with a good sob story and try to sweet talk one for 200 lol
r/ElectricScooters • I’m 14 and have a budget of $200. What electric scooter should i buy? ->My first scooter was max g30 for 400. I test drove it and inspected it prior to purchase, and it still works perfectly after moderate usage and zero maintenance. Buying new is great, but if we're trying to extract max value per dollar, the used market will win in this price range. That is, of course, assuming you possess the bare minimum skill set to prevent yourself from being ripped off.
r/ElectricScooters • I’m 14 and have a budget of $200. What electric scooter should i buy? ->Bout 14 on Sport limited to 20mph Daily commute mostly flat with one steep climb at the end of the return trip. The hill totally stops my G30 but the G3 maintains speed all the way up and loses 3mph on the last few yards at the highest steepest part.
r/ElectricScooters • Just bought a Segway Ninebot E2 Pro, turns out that was the wrong choice ->Kind of a waste of a rating, ups and down votes on reddit isn't a reliable indicator of quality/availability, esp when only using amazon. Further, it really depends on the person riding, why it's being used, and the conditions people are riding in. Person riding - are they young/old, heavy/light, speed demons/cautious. Why? - commuter/recreation Conditions - rain/wet/snow/off-road/trail/roads/dirt/etc.. Different scooters are going to be used for different purposes. The kind of hills someone is riding on can also make a massive difference. So scooters are going to struggle with the easiest of inclines. For example - Ninebot g30 struggles with even the tiniest hills, mine drops quickly to 9mph and below on a minor incline. Whereas the g2 will cruise up it with no too much issue. If you're a commuter riding in the winter, how well does it handle rain? G30 has seemingly zero issues in the rain, even near downpour, others will likely short out. Some, battery compartment is solid against rain, but stem....not so much. Knowing these things are really what help people buy scooters, not some arbitrary reddit like/dislike
r/ElectricScooters • I analyzed the 20 most recommended electric scooters on Reddit ->I already have the G30 but I'd love to have a suspension that's not some aftermarket ugly addon. The only thing holding me back is the added weight... I have to carry it up stairs every time I use it.
r/ElectricScooters • Segway Max G2 for $799 today at Best Buy... ->Oh I believe it's better all around, I'm just not sure if I want to carry 12 additional pounds up and down stairs multiple times per day.
r/ElectricScooters • Segway Max G2 for $799 today at Best Buy... ->Yeah you might have convinced me. Roads near me can be so bad my hands almost go numb from the vibration due to not having a suspension.
r/ElectricScooters • Segway Max G2 for $799 today at Best Buy... ->If you can bump up the budget the Segway G30LP will be a good one to set him for the next few years. You could also go for the G30 Max to future proof if he needs more distance or climb higher gradients (motor is better and battery is twice the range). Both models are reliable, easy to maintain and replacement parts are readily available, affordable to buy and change yourself. Just ensure they do regular maintenance checks, don’t run the battery down below 15-20% where possible, keep psi topped up and have him wear a helmet as minimum safety gear. You can also control speeds via the dedicated app too. FWIW, I recently did an analysis on Reddit data for electric scooters, ranking them by aggregated sentiment. Maybe you'll find it helpful [https://redditrecs.com/electric-scooter/](https://redditrecs.com/electric-scooter/) You can filter for what's good for hills and get a breakdown of what ppl have said about the most often recommended ones (disclaimer some links are affiliate they help fund the analyses)
r/ElectricScooters • Electric Scooter for 12 year old ->I use segway G30 because it’s easier to bring it on the CTA if i need to. No suspension tho and it doesn’t go faster than 18 mph (lime and divvy scooter maxes out at around 15 mph, so consider how you’ll feel when you fall off your scooter at higher rate of speed - in other words, your pain tolerance level). I have two helmets, ones without shield for my eyes and one with (for windy days, for rain, for bugs, etc).
r/AskChicago • I’m looking to buy an electric scooter. Any recommendations? What type of helmet is best? ->Without a doubt the g30 I will give a few reasons why I go for the g30. 1. Easily order spare parts 2. Many performance options. 3. Extremely high quality to price ratio 4. Actually the largest/most reliable e-scooter brand on the market. The Segway G30 can also go 45 kmph with custom SHFW, and the Segway G30 uses a peak power wattage of 1400W with SHFW. Have a nice day!
r/ElectricScooters • Which scooter is better? ->Segway Ninebot g30 is a good reliable scooter should be able to get for around that price. Any scooter you find that does 30+ mph at that price range will be a death trap. Start off getting really good and confident with a normal scooter at normal speeds before you start chasing high speed specs. At 20 on a scooter you can do some serious damage still and feels fast.
r/ElectricScooters • Scooters in winter compared to bikes ->My G30 does pretty well on hills
r/ElectricScooters • Just bought a Segway Ninebot E2 Pro, turns out that was the wrong choice ->Get the hiboy, faster, has suspension, probably better range, Easier to control. Also consider a refurbished g30. Hiboy build quality is great, and is more powerful so if you want to hack it it will also be more stable at speed.
r/ElectricScooters • Which scooter to buy? Need advice ->The hiboy has bluetooth and an app. As a g30 owner the suspension the hiboy offers is a massive dealbreaker
r/ElectricScooters • Which scooter to buy? Need advice ->Avoid gotrax like syphilis. Ninebot g30 is what you want.
r/ElectricScooters • Review on Gotrax XR Elite Max ->Those are barely serviceable, better get a used Ninebot G30
r/ElectricScooters • Opinions on maxshot scooter ->I paid 70€ for my G30, included with delivery, but that wasn't my first one. I owned a couple more and can't name a better scooter for its price and reliability
r/ElectricScooters • Opinions on maxshot scooter ->How do I do this? I have a g30 I use to commute but the range isn’t good enough. Is there a guide I can use to help me learn how to better make it fit my needs?
r/ElectricScooters • E-scooter Reviews - Entry Level Suspension ->Makes sense. Glad to see this list! Most people are just looking for a reliable daily commuter, g30 fits the bill. 9bot G2 for the same thing but with unreliable roads. I wonder how long it'll take the G3 to make it up this list?
r/ElectricScooters • I analyzed Reddit for the 20 most recommended electric scooters in the past year ->Segway G30. Reliable, solid construction, easy to repair/find replacement parts etc. You can control your speed via the app too. You can look at Inmotion Air if it’s still on sale too. Nui’s are popular (Kqi 100p, Nui Kqi2 Pro etc) but they’re OEM for part replacements and are a pain if you ever need to change tires. Consider if you’re needing to lock it up outside too, as nothing is foolproof from being stolen or withstanding the elements (mainly rain). Otherwise a bike might be a safer option.
r/ElectricScooters • Best scooter for a college student under 600? ->Segway G30lp is probably the best option. If she plans on riding longer distances with you/her friends etc as she’s older, then you could look at the G30. The new F3 could be another option (unsure on US prices for it though). Segway’s are easy to maintain and parts availability is great. Niu’s do great models (Kqi 100P, Kqi Pro 2 etc) too but the repairs are trickier and parts are pretty much exclusively from them (usually have to ship it to them, or find an authorised service centre).
r/ElectricScooters • My 10 year old daughter really wants an E scooter. She is saving her money and has about 500 atm. Recommendations? Wouldn’t need to go much over 15mph but having a range of 15 miles or more would be awesome. ->Segway G30 should be good for them. Or the Nui Kqi 2 Pro. If riding over 12-15kmh, full face helmet and gloves *minimum* protection too. Can always upgrade to suspension/dual motors once they’re older and have more experience.
r/ElectricScooters • Best scooter for a teen ->Segway G30lp will be one of the best options for them for the next 2-3yrs. You could push on to the G30 Max to future proof if they need more distance or climb higher gradients (motor is better and battery is twice the range) & would have decent value retention too. Both models are super reliable, easy to maintain and replacement parts are readily available, affordable to buy and change yourself. - *Just ensure they do regular maintenance checks, don’t run the battery down below 15-20% where possible, keep psi topped up (Xiaomi Air 2 compressor is the best portable unit) and wear a helmet as minimum safety gear. You can also control speeds via the dedicated app too.*
r/ElectricScooters • Scooter recs for large 12 year olds that can handle a hill ->No Get a used Ninebot G30
r/ElectricScooters • Is this worth buying? (Isinwheel electric scooter S9 MAX) brand new in box. ->Agree with all of this. 20 miles on my G30 is about an hour or a little more of riding, which is plenty on a scooter.
r/ElectricScooters • scooters with the best range that aren’t incredibly expensive ->Meh, usually bad reviews are people with limited scooter knowledge and ability. Plus the Chinese scooters take any battery drop in..... So you can build one like I did with my hacked ninebot g30 and then run at variable vintage and capacities. Currently using the g30 with m365 pro 2 brain and 500W motor. Overvolted to 50V with a 12v booster pack I can connect. Extended base with 3D printed ring and it fits a 12s10 battery and the m365 brain mounted inside. Dual after market suspension and at one point ran it dual motor. I'm about 215 lbs currently and the scooter is about 45 lbs. Easily get up to 30 mph with plenty of pull and minimal overheating (the board has been upgraded with larger capacitors just in case) and heatsinked to the chassis. Scooter used was a few hundred bucks, batteries about 2-300$ and other random parts and connectors about 50$. The time is all you need to create an absolute monster.... I rode at the beach the other day about 6 miles and it only dropped to 85 percent.... Smart bms tracks overall charge and individual cell bank charge. With a lil ingenuity he could have a real tank for cheap
r/ElectricScooters • Best Scooter under $1,900, speed+30mph, range+55miles, lightweight, reliable ? ->**Observational point:** lots here on Reddit that, 'Segway is the best, the very best, the mother-fucking best' talking points.' As others have pointed out, Segway 'influencers' and other narcs are here posting about Segway. Just an FYI. In advance, I like Segway, but its your Mom's scooter. Practical. Safe. Maintenance. Regulation. Dad doing all the work to keep this 1978 Chevy Monte Carlo on the road. **Segway Ninebot G30** **Summary:** More family friendly. Better for big and heavy riders (250 - 260 pounds). Like a minivan with decent offroad capability (the air tires are the key here). Bigger (deck is longer and wider than most competitive scooters). **Manufacturer software mandates:** can be / are a hassle -- regulation by the manufacturer. Air tires, but no shock absorbers and/or deck springs. **BUT!** be prepared for daily and monthly maintenance. Motor is in the back tire. Notable: **0. Durable (9/10**): good for hard, bump roads. Cinder paths (eg jogging paths); fresh cut grass (eg golf course fairways; some dirt roads that are packed. Cobble stones are A-OK (if bumpy; very doable). Also, easily to ride 2 people: 1 man; 1 woman work okay, provided you aren't overweight (eg not a chubby Georgia couple). an adult and a pre-puberty child works very well. **1. air tires:** checking these constantly. If you live an urban environment with rough roads (eg Boston; NYC) you may want air tires (softer ride), but you trade off with maintenance. Check daily. Buy a portable electric air pump (looks like a walkie talkie and costs \~$50 USD) **2. slow quickness:** Segways are not quick off the line. They are more like a big labrador retriever, and take some time to hit max speed. In city environments, it is in your best interest to plan well ahead. Maybe stick to the bike lane, if you're an anxious type. **3. braking:** the regenerative braking is ALWAYS coupled to analog braking (which is poor unless one keeps on top of maintenance; if you ride your brake, with regular commuting (5x a week), you will go through brakes every 3 months. Braking requires >30% more distance than Hiboy **4. controllers:** the electronic speed controller (ESC). Segway ESCs are famous for melting down and/or short-circuiting. Older Segways (pre 2019) were able to be hacked (ScooterHack app) and flash any new controller. New Segways require purchasing from Segway - China or a Segway approved repair shop (NYC has 2). Just a way of introducing that Segway - China has your Segway scooter in a big ol' database and you gotta deal with them if the ESC shits the bed. They track both the serial number (SN) on your scooter and ***match it*** to the ESC's SN. Its part of an anti-theft system that is ***regulated from China***. Ahem. The customer service is okay, but not fast. Be sure you have some tech game, and be patient. **5. tl; dr:** Segways -- and particularly Ninebots -- are reliable, if not quick (top speed is reached, but will take a bit), high maintenance scooters (to maintain daily performance) that require patience in the long term. **Be PREPARED TO DEAL WITH CHINA - BEIJING SEGWAY HQ.** We -- wife and I -- commute our 2 kids (10; 12 years) on our 2 Segways. My wife loves her. But, I am the maintenance donkey.
r/ElectricScooters • New to scooters - Hiboy? ->**Hiboy S2 Pro** **Summary:** Less software, less regulation by the manufacturer. Lower maintenance, but smaller deck. Good for 220-250 pounds (but tighten the horizontal deck / shock absorber springs). Very, very quick. Great regenerative breaking. Hard tires, harder ride. Lighter (about 5 pounds lighter at \~34 pounds and smaller frame - 4 inches shorter in deck length; -1.5 inches in deck with -- than Segway Ninebot). Motor is in the front tire. Much lighter compared to Segway (see point on the stem below under durable). Notable: **0. Durable (8/10):** We have had 2 HiBoy S2 Pros. We put >3,200 miles on the first and the second is at \~1,500 miles. With 1st one, I beat the heck outta. Ultimately, the stem cracked off (NB: 2022-2023 HiBoy S2 Pros. Some had a structural issue with the aluminum stem snapping off from the steel post. Ours did. Google it. Its a thing. Anyhow, HiBoy replaced it with a 2024 model. No issues thus far. **1. tires:** standard are solid tires. No punctures. Low maintenance. Hard riding. And slick in the rain. Requires greater awareness when riding. But, no punctures. Solid tires also wear out. But, normally its just the front tire (where the motor is), every spring. Good for city streets, but not cobbles. Cinder paths, and packed dirt roads, but not grass. Watch out for rainy days - go slow. **2. Quick:** 3x quicker than a comparable Segway. Responsive. Easier to maneuver. Like a jack rabbit that also can go the distance. **3. Braking: excellent.** Very, very, very excellent. Very, very responsive. Regenerative braking is the best. Stops very quickly; blows Segway away. Helpful in city environments with cars. On mine, I never use the analog brake. 4. controllers: no **issues.** No heavy regulation by the manfacturer. And, they aren't 'matched' to the scooter SN. **tl;dr:** I prefer the Highboys. My wife prefers the Segway. I like the Highboy quickness and responsiveness. (especially in NYC with cars, pedestrians, etc). But, smaller: harder to ride 2 people. My wife and I can do it, but I put a metal carrier over the back wheel. My sons are too short for the carrier. So, only the youngest (10 fits on the deck; the 12 year old aged out). Also: lower maintenance and no ad hoc 'surprises' like flat tires when one is commuting or its raining, or anything. AND: no manufacturer regulation like the Segways **(and the world the way it is now -- may be an issue down the road).**
r/ElectricScooters • New to scooters - Hiboy? ->I use a ninebot g30 for daily commute from parking to office, bought it 2nd hand and it's very easy to repair cz their site shows all the details and parts are easily available. Battery is solid and longest I have done is 48km on a full charge, and it still had some juice left. Also these things are stupid fast, they can reach 30kmh, which is much higher than bicycle, so if you are going to travel 4km everyday definitely get a good helmet bicycle helmets are not rated for that speed :)
r/dubai • Planning to buy an electric scooter – need suggestions ->I settled for a used G30 thanks for your help
r/ElectricScooters • Is this worth buying? (Isinwheel electric scooter S9 MAX) brand new in box. ->I followed ur orders and got me a G30 🫡
r/ElectricScooters • Is this worth buying? (Isinwheel electric scooter S9 MAX) brand new in box. ->Segway g30 is pretty much the most durable thing out there apart from a 'repurpoused' rental scooter. Buy a $50 xiomi pump to keep the tires full and it will run for 5k with minimal maint. Larger/faster scooters arent really built better. Theyre faster and more powerful but easier to break
r/ElectricScooters • What are the MOST reliable E-scooters out there, with budget as less of a concern? ->Thats why I like my g30 so much. Its relatively small, light, and easy to carry. It can also fit a massive battery internally with a few mods
r/ElectricScooters • E-Scooters still as heavy and cumbersome as in 2020 ->As long as its not your sole mode of transportation anything should work. Now if it would be your daily driver and you don’t want to collect unemployment just yet you might consider something reliable like a segway g30 max.
r/ElectricScooters • Best Scooter for Daily Commute ->Most notable area that rusts are the motors. Segway max g30 isn't your everyday average scooter since it was designed for the brutal rental market. We have seen them submerged in water for who knows how long and they still work. Crazy college kiddos
r/ElectricScooters • Scooters in winter compared to bikes ->Anything from Segway/Ninebot. The have superior waterproofing and stability in wet conditions. Ideally G30/G2/G3 line, those are the most robust ones.
