"Segway g30 is pretty much the most durable thing out there apart from a 'repurpoused' rental scooter. ... Buy a $50 xiomi pump to keep the tires full and it will run for 5k with minimal maint."
"I have beaten the absolute shiiit out of mine and it Is still going very strong. ... It's actually significantly more durable than my $1.8k Apollo city pro."
"Durable (9/10): good for hard, bump roads. ... Cinder paths (eg jogging paths); fresh cut grass (eg golf course fairways; some dirt roads that are packed. Cobble stones are A-OK (if bumpy; very doable)."

"The Max G3 is a total beast on hills if you can budget it. I’m 220lbs and ride with a full pack every day. ... The hill totally stops my G30 but the G3 maintains speed all the way up and loses 3mph on the last few yards at the highest steepest part."
"My G30 does pretty well on hills"

"be prepared for daily and monthly maintenance. ... air tires: checking these constantly. ... If you live an urban environment with rough roads (eg Boston; NYC) you may want air tires (softer ride), but you trade off with maintenance. Check daily. ... if you ride your brake, with regular commuting (5x a week), you will go through brakes every 3 months. ... high maintenance scooters (to maintain daily performance)"
"the regenerative braking is ALWAYS coupled to analog braking (which is poor unless one keeps on top of maintenance; if you ride your brake, with regular commuting (5x a week), you will go through brakes every 3 months. Braking requires >30% more distance than Hiboy"

"Manufacturer software mandates: can be / are a hassle -- regulation by the manufacturer. ... Segway - China has your Segway scooter in a big ol' database and you gotta deal with them if the ESC shits the bed. They track both the serial number (SN) on your scooter and match it to the ESC's SN. Its part of an anti-theft system that is regulated from China."

"The hill totally stops my G30"
With that budget id get a ninebot g30 honestly.
I think E-Bike is much safer. I drove my g30 for one winter to work because i had no other option. Man i remember sometimes when i drove over ice and felt my wheel spinning on ice.... it was a hella scary feeling.
Ninebot Max G3 is IPX6 and it’s battery is IPX7 Not the highest but quite good. I also have the G30 and after a full year of daily use in all weather it has zero signs of moisture inside.
Bout 14 on Sport limited to 20mph Daily commute mostly flat with one steep climb at the end of the return trip. The hill totally stops my G30 but the G3 maintains speed all the way up and loses 3mph on the last few yards at the highest steepest part.
For 45-50km/h I would recommend a Kukurin g2 (not the pro, its in my opinion inferior to the standard G2 (800W, 48V 15Ah (0.8Ah less then the g2 pro). The g2 has better suspension, a quick fold system and the g2 pro takes a bit longer, is less complex to work on and stabler. I own a g2, so I know what I am talking about, but Im also a bit biased😂, 3500km ridden and the only problems were my fault. It would cost €450-500 new, but you can find basically new ones for €350-400 second hands. My g2 range at 3500km, 190cm 85kg, is at top speed 20-25km but easily 50+km at 25km/h. For legal scooters, Ninebot g2 max or g30 are fine options. They are 'worse' in terms of speed, battery and suspension for the same price as Kukirins, but they are legal. If you buy them in a shop, you can get warrenty (2 years often) I would avoid expensive brands, maybe look at Kukirin, Ninebot, (Xiaomi maybe but they could have worse quality). It depends on your needs, Kukirin is a good all-round choice but illegal, Ninebot is legal but imo too expensive for what you get, Xiaomi is meh
With your weight, almost any adult scooter is suitable for you. Given the short travel distance, scooters with small batteries are also suitable. I would consider Ninebot scooters, as they have more reliable electronics, and the mechanical parts are also quite reliable. For example, Ninebot scooters Es series (Es1, Es2, Es4), F series(F25, F35, F45), G30, G2 (used ones can be bought for $ 300, and this would be the best solution for the money), E2. Of all the scooters listed, the Es series has a folding mechanism, which makes it easier to store it leaning against the wall, placing it on the front wheel, and using a wall mount. Other scooters can also be stored in this way, but due to the design features, they will bulge strongly from the wall, and it is not very convenient to put them on 1 wheel. Xiaomi scooters also performed well, such as the m365, m365 pro, etc. Inexpensive kukirin scooters can also be considered, but they often have mechanical problems, and the electrics sometimes fail, although due to their mass production, spare parts for them are cheaper than for other scooters.
Can't help you about reviews, but I *can* tell you - from the tech specs and from user reports here - that E-series Ninebots below the E3 Pro aren't actually very good. They have weak powertrains and tiny ranges and they'll choke on any uphill; personally I'd avoid them all. The E3 Pro specifically is the only one with a half-decent powertrain; I'd imagine that's why people have more things to say about it. I *would* choose a Xiaomi 5 before any E-series, but I'd choose a Ninebot F3, cheaper F2, or even the older G30 before the Xiaomi 5.
It depends on how much DIY work you're comfortable doing. If you're at ease with wrenches and soldering irons, then you can get whatever cheapie is sold in your department store and probably be happy with it (though I'd still recommend avoid solid tires for reasons explained here: http://reddit.com/r/electricscooters/wiki/solidtires). I'd avoid the Aliexpress bottom-of-the-barrel stuff; they're typically exactly the same as department store cheapies, but battery quality is a complete unknown and they have very little liability. At least if you buy from Target or something you can bring it back to them if it croaks. If you do *not* want to put in any work, then get a Ninebot E3 Pro or F3. The older G30 and F2 are also excellent options.
Too much scooter for someone who's never ridden one before. The G4 in particular is a *big* beast and likely to give you trouble just handling it, let alone at speed. Scooters give you a false sense of security because they *look* so simple and easy to ride, but they're actually quite treacherous if you have no experience; they're significantly more likely to surprise you with unexpected behaviour than bicycles, for instance. Get something slow-ish like a Ninebot G2 or an old G30, ride it for a few hundred km, then upgrade to something fast.
Low-tier hiboy scooters aren't good. Solid tires are a problem for safety as well as comfort; together with the lack of a front suspension, the ride is very uncomfortable: https://reddit.com/r/electricscooters/wiki/solidtires You get a few people who like low-tier Hiboys here, but I suspect it's simply because they've never tried any better - and when I say "better" I don't mean scooters costing three times as much; you can find better ones in the same price bracket. For instance, the G30 that was already suggested is far superior.
The KuKirin G2 is decent. The Ausom L1 might be a bit better for the same price, but they're similar. If you really value reliability then a Ninebot G30 or Ninebot G2 are where it's at, but they are smaller and slower, have less range, worse brakes and are in my opinion just nowhere as fun to ride. The Ninebots are very good commuter scooters (I'm pretty sure that they're waterproof too) but that means that they're an appliance. Made for reliability, but not fun. I like fun.
Avoid gotrax like syphilis. Ninebot g30 is what you want.
Those are barely serviceable, better get a used Ninebot G30
I paid 70€ for my G30, included with delivery, but that wasn't my first one. I owned a couple more and can't name a better scooter for its price and reliability
