Remember that the claimed range on ALL scooters, even from reputable manufacturers is BS. It's based on an ideal set of conditions and rider decisions that will never ever be replicated in the real world. Cut the claimed range in half and you'll be very close to the actual range. If you're some combination of light, slow, and avoid any kind of an incline you might get 60%. A gravel road is pretty light duty off road so any quality scooter with suspension and non solid tires will do just fine. Lots of people recommending one of the Wolf variants and that's not a bad choice. They're good scooters and good quality/performance for the money. My only hesitation is that they have MORE off road capabilty than you need, which isn't in itself a bad thing, but they are big bulky and heavy, so if portability is an issue you might want to consider that. Honestly, any of the scooters that you listed is going to do fine. If the rest of your riding is going to be on the street, I might lean more towards the Mukata or one of the higher spec Mantis models if you like Kabbo. More biased for street riding in a lighter, more nimble package with a lower center of gravity at the cost of suspension travel. Yume is hard to beat in terms of bang for the buck, but they cost less and it shows up in the fit and finish as well as some of the components, like using generic battery cells. Really good value for the money, just a little bit rough around the edges. "Built like a tank" also means "heavier than it needs to be." Still, they tend to give you a generous helping of scooter for your money. I like Segway, but I don't think they have a model that works well for your use case. They just released a model called the ZT3 Pro, which can be had on sale for about $950, but it's a single engine (fairly stout, but still only one) with a firmware limited top speed of 25. Some very nice features, like traction control and big 11 inch self healing tires, beefy shocks and some bells and whistles. In an ideal world at some point theyll release a dual motor version of this model. Other than the P100, Segways have great build quality, features, reliability and ergonomics. None of these things really show up on a performance datasheet and judging strictly by that metric and factoring in cost, they're midpack. I have a GT2 which is the 6th scooter I've owned and I really like it, but it probably isn't the best choice here. It's heavy, not particularly cheap and while the suspension is fantastic, it's more set up for the street. You can get about the same performance from a wolf warrior x for almost $1000 less and you're only giving up a little bit in terms of performance in a package with more of an off road bias. The GT1 is the single engine version that's still good for 38 mph, but still heavy and more of a street machine. A gravel roads and trail riding are well within its capabilities and the ride quality and stability is sublime. Still, single engine. For off road, I would rather have two smaller motors rather than one big one.
r/ElectricScooters • How “capable” of an off-road scooter would I need for this drive way? ->So most scooters with a 280lb limit will hold you fine, you're really not worried about the frame snapping as long as it's not chinesium, it's more the stress on the wheels, motors, and battery. If you care about reliability the segway GT1 is probably your best bet at 1500$, everything else that's reliable with those specs is closer to 2k or 3k.
r/ElectricScooters • Best electric scooter for almost a 400 weight limit? ->I second the GT1. Unless you're looking to drop $2500 or more, the GT1 is going to work great for a casual rider of any ability level. It is especially forgiving to those just starting out because the GT series is the most stable platform yet built as far as I'm aware. And you shouldn't have to worry about keeping up with your son.
r/ElectricScooters • Scooter for heavy guy? ->Inokim Oxo is a great deal right now. If you don't care about portability, the Segway GT1 will be more comfortable than anything else by a wide margin and is also a good deal.
r/ElectricScooters • 1 Mile Commute to work, 275lb rider, what scooter? ->100% buy a Segway GT1 over a p100s. Or look at other options altogether.
r/ElectricScooters • 1 Mile Commute to work, 275lb rider, what scooter? ->I’m 6’4” 280lbs. I bought a NIU KQI3 Max (rated for up to 265lbs) when I was around 260lbs and while it was fun, it just didn’t have the power to go up any sort of incline, overheated (due to my weight) and had no suspension. After using it for 1 season, I found out that ride quality, range & power (not top speed) were most important. I upgraded to the Segway GT1 while it was on sale and I couldn’t imagine enjoying anything more than it.
r/ElectricScooters • Best electric scooter for almost a 400 weight limit? ->I have a GT1 and love it. It’s definitely a solid built scooter. The only downside is it’s weight. The scooter itself is 105 pounds but it will support your weight without issue. Plenty fast and plenty powerful. The only negative in regard to performance is battery size. It’s smaller and will burn through a full charge quicker especially in race mode going 30+ mph for long distances. If you’re easy on it in eco mode you’ll be fine.
r/ElectricScooters • Scooter for heavy guy? ->Don't know if costco sold segways, but Segway still does make scooters. I have one and it's so nice.
r/Costco • E-scooter...anyone bought it? Any problem? ->I don't know if Ninebot is a subsidiary of Segway, but yes. There's also non-Ninebot Segway scooters: https://www.segway.com/segway-kickscooter-gt-series/ That is what I have.
r/Costco • E-scooter...anyone bought it? Any problem? ->What's your budget and country? That makes a huge difference. Overall, Segway-Ninebot is the biggest company and they have a range of scooters at all budgets. You won't get the best value for a dollar but you'll have an acceptable warranty and a large community of users.
r/ElectricScooters • Best brand for E Scooters? ->Yeah Segway is the least risky option. You can also look at Niu, although none of their kick scooters have rear suspension so long rides on rough pavement can be tiring. If your roads aren't very smooth I would strongly recommend a scooter with front and rear suspension. keep in mind that advertised range is much shorter than real life range unless you have perfect conditions and ride at slower speeds.
