I use my Segway gt3 for work. Car has only been used on weekends when going out
This is not true, this is a newer model and even the gt2 did not have widespread catastrophic issues. Segway outsells random brands 10 fold, by this logic do not buy Iphones because when I google Iphone problems more show up then Infinix brand phones.
Gt3 is a higher quality scooter but the Raptor has a larger battery for more range. Range anxiety is a real thing so if you care about range get the Raptor.
The Segway has more features and a nicer look, it just depends on what you value more. For me I may lean Raptor for the range even though its more of a "parts bin" scooter.
I am a big guy and I got the Segway GT3 and would recommend it. You are going to have to increase your budget though.
I am over 300 lbs. and I have a Segway GT3. It carries me up hills fine. I am currently trying to sell it though because I bought a Suzuki ICE scooter.
Get the ZT3. I have the GT3 and stability is much better than the G2.
To be honest I just test rode all 3 of them at the Segway LA store today. None of them are dual motor. When I tested them on the hill near by they all lost significant power quickly bc the single rear motors were over working. They also dropped a lot of battery during a 10 minute test ride each between 8-12%. They’re only going to get around 15-18 miles of actual range based on your weight too. Also once below 60% the GT3 couldn’t even get up to 25mph, and I only weigh 180. Given where you live, you should consider only dual motor scooters.
The GT3 did good until the battery dropped below 60%. The top speed of 31 was only achieved when the battery was above 85% also. For the money it wasn’t the best, and it’s also not a scooter that you can really store anywhere it’s very big and heavy.
Honestly, the GT3 and its not really close. In fact, I would suggest waiting for the GT3 Pro even that additional cost because you'll likely regret not getting for its performance advantages over the GT3. I really love the designs of the Segway GT scooters, but find their performance somewhat lackluster. I really wanted to pull the trigger on the GT3 but its performance (top speed, acceleration and range) were barely better than my 3 year-old Mercane Jubel and 2x the cost. Sadly ended up going with a Dualtron Victor Luxury but already feeling like I shouldve held out for the GT3 Pro because the GT3 ride quality is amazing.
When Segway actually prices their scooters to comparables in the market, then maybe they can be included. Right now, every one of their offerings is priced at a tier higher than it should be when they aren't on sale. Certain 52v models are priced as though they are running on a 60v and sometimes even 72v system. It makes no sense. The battery capacity is anemic compared to the competition. And people still slurp Segways' ass like they are the end all be all of scooters. I truly don't understand it. Just look at what the GT2 sells for at full retail and tell me with a straight face that I should consider it "good" for the price. Now you have the GT3, and it's the same BS. Base model GT3 is a 48v system and 50kph max speed for $2500 CAD ($1825 USD). What a joke. And they underspecced it on purpose to push you to the GT3 pro, which is (Finally) a 72v system, but still only 80kph max speed, for $4500 CAD (3280 USD). Why on earth would I buy that when I can get an InMotion RS, NAMI Burn E3 Max, Kaabo Wolf, Yume Predator for the same price or less? Nevermind the plethora of off brand 72v scooters that blow it out of the water for almost half the price.
If you don't need high speed (>25mph) not long range (>20miles) - get the GT3. If you want 30+mph or longer range than that I would hold out and preorder the GT3 pro for an extra $700 or whatever it costs. You will much prefer either GT model over the other two options for riding - not even close. Of course this is assuming you are good with a heavy scooter that lacks much portability.
The ZT3 is awesome and you will love it unless you ever try riding a GT3 in which case you will be kicking yourself hard. The value of the ZT3 is great but the ride quality of the GT series destroys basically everything else on the market (even significantly more expensive scooters people are recommending). I think people get caught up on the speed and specs but in my opinion heavier individuals should focus on ride quality above other features and Segways are top tier in that regard. Nami is the only real competition in that category.
I live in Philly and work in various parts of the city. If the place has elevator I'll use the Segway gt3 because it's heavy if other place don't have an elevator I'll use the cunfon rz800. It folds and it's not too heavy.
I have the Segway gt3 and I use that for commuting to work
I have a Segway gt3 I use everyday in Philly because I go from Southwest to downtown. I have no problems. I know where all the big potholes are. I know when to avoid certain streets.
Sounds like you have the same one as me the gt3-e which tops out at 30mph. Gt3-pro goes up to 50. That being said I love it!
I love my segway gt3-e (non pro) if you're looking for something that's more of a distance commuter that can go high speeds. Just don't expect to fold it and hold it on the bus the thing is heavy. But for a reason. The shocks are great and the built in traction control works amazingly when you hit a sketchy bump. Just wish the expansion battery pack its compatible with wasn't sold out!
