Looks like the same basic model off Amazon I have. Seen it with a few different brand names, but always the same body. Mine goes a little faster, but I got the second tier up model over the base one. I get 19mph top speed indicated and ~15 mile range on a full charge. I don't shit on these despite what they lack. Mine enabled me to get a job 7 miles away that I was able to commute to daily in about 35-40 minutes before I moved into a place a mile away from work. Sometimes it's necessity. That said, I also just enjoy riding and whipping my scooter around for fun. Only truly whiped out once, and it was at low speed. Generally when I've "crashed," it has been something on the path jamming the front wheel, which usually throws the scooter below me and let's me run off the momentum to catch myself. It's not much different than the Razor scooter I grew up on in terms of handling and feel. Pros: -Affordable -Decent speed -Works well for short commutes if in a city -Fun Cons: -No shock absorption, so you'll feel the bumps if on rough path -15 mile range and long charge time limit use beyond short runs around town -Difficult to do maintenance on -Frequent upkeep Speaking to maintenance: You'll want to keep an allen wrench on you, and a multi set is best since most screws are different sizes. These loosen up fast since nothing is dampening the vibrations from riding. Beyond that, I recently had to do a repair that was only feasible because of my previous technical experience and tools I already had on hand. Clipped a curb right where the wire comes out of the front wheel and severed several connections. No space to splice. Hoped to open the front motor to feed the cable through it to splice or solder, but it's glued shut, even if you remove the screws. Had to use a soldering iron and solder wire I had on hand already along with a donor cable from a shorted charging cord. Was able to make the repair, but it wasn't easy due to the limited space. It works again, so it can be done, but it's not easy if you haven't had to do some of this kind of work before. If it dies, you're most likely toast unless you've done this kind of work before since replacement parts don't exist for critical components. I've also had to replace the throttle on mine when the previous snapped from the support that keeps it stable. This was easy, and Amazon does sell this piece for like $10-15, but the outlet for the new one to plug into isn't accessible (at least on mine), so I had to splice the wires to make it work too. More expensive scooters are generally just made easier to do custom work on I'm still happy with mine. Was looking at getting something better, but I've since picked up a moped I'm rebuilding (and it was free since it wasn't running, lucky find). Ended up being a gateway to motorcycles for me, but I just like anything small I can go fast on

That's a fair assessment for range based on my experience with one of these. I've ridden around 1000 miles on mine now, but I've had to replace the throttle (around 700 miles in), and I had to fix the wiring to the motor after I clipped a curb and severed several connections. Not easy to work on or find critical components for. Throttle was nothing aside from splicing wires, but the connection to the motor required soldering and a donor wire because there's no way to open the housing on the motor, and I was left without enough room to splice due to the location of the damage. Only way to work on these is if you have at least some previous technical experience with electronics. Without that, when they die, they're toast

These vary so much it's hard to say, but 5 miles is still not a lot. Terrain matters though. Mine says 15.5 mile range, and that's fairly accurate compared to real world riding (7 miles takes half a charge). Up hill will burn it faster, and running at consistent locked top speed will too. I rarely keep mine on cruise and try to ride momentum where I can to extend range. Could also be bad/lower quality cells limiting yours, but not a lot you can do unless you know how to work with electronics to replace them (not actually that difficult, but you still need to know your stuff since lithium cells can explode if not connected and managed correctly). The side of this also not mentioned is that at low power, max speed drops significantly. Feels like basic models are still improving, even if only a little. My exact scooter is maybe $30-50 less now than when I bought it since the newer ones offer just a little more range or speed for the price. Quality on the body hasn't changed, and that matters since there's no shock absorption. I carry an allen wrench set with me to tighten screws when they loosen up with daily riding For context, I ride a Volpam SP06. It's the second tier scooter over the base model, but it's not a large jump in capacity and speed. Volpam SP01 was the base scooter model when I got mine at the start of the year. Seen a few with other names that are the same body and specs. I could also be misjudging improvements in newer scooters since mine isn't the basic one and is slightly more powerful than the SP01, which I assume is still roughly equivalent to first tier scooters people are buying on Amazon

These don't go 60mph. This is a generic electric scooter that isn't even hitting 20. The hypers, sure I get your concern, but they're also larger with wider wheels, dual motors, heavier in the base, and better stability. Unless someone heavily modifies one of these, assuming it's even possible, I don't think a scooter this size is ever getting close to that speed. If someone is smart enough to actually make one of these capable of 60+, they'd also be smart enough to know not to do it on a scooter with this body since there's no shock absorption, it's a weak frame, and the weight of the scooter isn't heavy enough to keep you grounded at high speeds. These small ones under 20mph are safe

Amazon has a scooters way cheaper. I bought a Volpam for $180 and have had it for over a year and it works great, I see almost everyone else with the same scooter on the train. My only regret is not spending more for shocks they have on other versions under $300. Imo if you’re spending 800+ on a scooter it’s either incredible or you’re wasting money.

I got a volpam off Amazon to use between transit and to get to the store. Haven’t had any issues yet. A 500w motor with dual suspension, 10” solid tires for $289

Honestly, no. I use a volpam that looks almost identical to this one, as do all the m365 clones, down to the colors. My issue with the tires are that they tend to be EXTREMELY slippery, and you will feel every single bump, even with the shocks. I didn't pay too much for mine, so it's good as a beginner's scooter, but i'm already looking for a replacement.

I bought a Volpam in April as my first escooter. I had a bit of a learning curve which left me with a couple of bruises, but I still loved it and got the hang of it in about 2 weeks (slow learner, me!) The kickstand also snapped off during week 2. I have about a 3/4 mile commute in San Francisco and it did fine but slow on the half-block hill that I deal with. But the rear tire snagged in a bus(?) track one day and I recovered control fine, but, ever since, the rear tire seems extra slippery to the point I’m really nervous about riding on wet roads, which is more likely now. So I upgraded to a G3 Max, which feels amazingly stable (if big - still getting used to it). Anyway, the point of this is that I agree about the Volpam’s slipperiness but that it’s also a good little scooter to try start on (but only in dry weather and if you don’t need a kickstand!)

r/ElectricScootersIs it realistic to get a decent (adult) electric scooter for under $300

Yes, the scooter I use to get to my classes was $200. It is a VOLPAM scooter. They are cheap and not fancy by any means, but they gets the job done
