I don’t think that scooter exists. The biggest sticking point is you want something a little bit faster but you want to stick to drum brakes. I definitely understand that since the drum brakes are usually much easier to adjust and don’t require much maintenance because they are sealed up. The only scooter that’s even close to that that I can think of is something like the Vsett 8 or Vsett apex. However, those go about 25 mph. It’s decently lightweight around 55 pounds. The biggest issue is that the vast majority of scooters have transferred over to disc brakes. If you’re getting a decent scooter that has NUTT or similar hydraulic brakes they’re honestly not as bad as you would think. They are much easier to adjust being hydraulic. And more reliable. Your past experiences have likely been with wire pulled mechanical disc brakes, which are honestly some of the cheapest and worst available and are a huge pain to adjust. I would look into something like Teverun fighter mini pro. Could occasionally handle two people on it and it has enough speed to where you could go 25 to 30 mph with decent range. It’s probably a little bit heavier than you expected, but you could most likely find something from them. That’s definitely lighter than some of the big 40 mph beasts that you might not want. Typically I’d say something between 50 to 65 pounds is a good sweet spot in terms of power to weight ratio. You can typically get a decent size battery and decent speed without it getting unwieldy or annoying to move around. Hopefully, that helps you down.

Generally, I prefer Teverun and that one is a decent option. I think the only thing holding it back is that it does use tubes which means it could be somewhat annoying to do a tire or tube change. The motor cable also doesn’t have a quick disconnect so it’s very similar to a Vsett 10+ when you want to do anything with the motors, which can be kind of frustrating. Although I don’t like the look of the teewing. It sucks cause $1000 is a really bad price point for a scooter. I hate to tell people to spend more money but around the $1100 mark you’re making a lot of compromises with build quality or quality of life improvements like quick disconnects for the motors.

I currently have a Vsett 10+, and while it’s relatively easy to maintain (brakes, tires, inner tubes), it’s not road legal where I live and tends to attract police attention. It’s also not very weather-resistant. I’ve been considering the Ninebot Max G3 E, but from what I’ve seen, tire changes look quite difficult due to the solid rim design. So I made a list of what I’m looking for: * **Easy to repair:** preferably split rims; no need to open the deck or disconnect motor cables for basic maintenance (tires, bearings, brake discs, etc.) * **Weather resistance:** should handle occasional rain without issues * **Range:** around 30 km in real-world conditions * **Comfort:** suspension both front and rear * **Brakes:** preferably mechanical (non-hydraulic) for simpler maintenance * **Repair costs:** should be reasonable and not require expensive parts or labor Overall, I’m looking for something reliable and low-maintenance — basically the “Toyota” of electric scooters. If anyone has suggestions that fit these criteria, I’d appreciate it.

Have heard great thing about G2 reliability but isn't 36V battery little bit too weak? I will not be be racing with this scooter but i heard if the battery drops to 50% it looses a lot of the power and becomes much slower? I wanna be hitting 25km/h always.

I am heavier than you by a considerable margin and I've got the Vsett 10+ which has been great, no complaints.

If you go for the low price scooters then that is what you will get. And it’s usually the battery that suffers on these scooters. Whatever you do buy from a reputable dealer like RevRides as they use good quality battery’s even the cheapest option will last you years. Don’t be the one a year from now stuck with replacing an expensive battery for your not so old scooter. I have purchased 5 new scooters all Vsetts and one Zero which is before they changed the name to Vsett all with the less expensive batteries and all working almost as new some as old as 4 years.

I have the same issue and have owned over 10 scooters in the past few years. I have sold all but two. Both Vsetts one is a Vsett10+ dual motor beast but only weighs 80lbs. The other is a Vsett8 single motor and I use this for short trips to the store. Both are over 3 years old and I have never had a problem with either of them. I am also a decent scooter mechanic and do all my own modifications and repairs. In the price range these scooters have no equal. In the USA I purchase my Vsett scooters from RevRides out of Washington state from their website. A quick search of the website will reveal everything you need to know.

I’ve logged seat time on most of the 2025 releases—Apollo City, NIU KQi Air, Vsett 10+, etc.—and the pattern is the same as last year: the lighter you go, the more you sacrifice ride comfort after the first five miles. For pure fun I’d still grab the Vsett (suspension wins), but if weight matters the KQi Air is the one you can haul up apartment stairs without regret. Yeah the iX7Pro is solid for those specs but you might wanna check out the Vsett 10+ too - hits 40mph easy and the range is legit if you're not constantly maxing it out. Little heavier than the iX7 but the build quality feels way more premium
