I am heavier than you by a considerable margin and I've got the Vsett 10+ which has been great, no complaints.

Yeah, well some of us became fan boys by riding them. I've got a Vsett 10+. Great scooter. Buddy of mine gets a GT2. I tell him he's an idiot. I ride the GT2. Week later I order one, even though performance wise it's only a tiny bit better than the Vsett. Why? There's a whole bunch of factors other than performance data that go into making a scooter fun to ride. The suspension, the stability, the throttle tip in, the ergonomics. The fact that the acceleration stays strong even if you're already at 80% of max. Most scooters taper off hard. Segway understresses their components. You could tune a Segway to get better performance. But they leave all that headroom for reliability and longevity. They guy talking shit about Segways is always the guy who's never ridden one and who' s scooter cost way less and he's modded it so it'll totally smoke a Segway...except it's not working right now and he's waiting for a part. Somehow all these parts never get included in their cost of ownership, or their time even if you figure it at minimum wage. Start doing the math and you're not saving much. If anything at all. All this for a scooter that's got a slightly better than even chance of being 100% functional on any given day and has questionable resale value That being said, the list prices for Segway are ridiculous, but nobody pays that. If the model you want isn't on sale this week, it will be next week. It's a goofy way to run your business, but whatever. I'm sure there are some very nice DIY scooters out there. Buy you'd think that someone that knows enough about scooters to build a good one would also know to look beyond the initial performance specs on the latest and greatest from Temu. The whole "segways are overpriced, i built something better in my garage" is ignorance from people that should know better and an argument that's completely irrelevant for most people. Most people just want to charge and ride. I like to tinker and upgrade but I want to do it on my schedule, not because my AliExpress 2000 SUX burned up another speed controller-- not the one that it came with but the upgraded sinewave one that lasted two months. And there's a loose connection in the lighting circuit that needs to be traced down because the headlight keeps flickering...and it needs to go to a machinist because the aftermarket shock is a couple of millimeters different than stock and the bolt recover is starting to strip out and...

I've had a no-name, Amazon Xiaomi knock-off, an Ausom Leopard, and currently own a vsett 10+ and a kaabo warrior 11 pro +. The quality of the components as well as the fit, finish, and weatherproofing on the vsett and kaabo are far superior to the other two; however, the maintenance requirements are much more significant.

I’ve logged seat time on most of the 2025 releases—Apollo City, NIU KQi Air, Vsett 10+, etc.—and the pattern is the same as last year: the lighter you go, the more you sacrifice ride comfort after the first five miles. For pure fun I’d still grab the Vsett (suspension wins), but if weight matters the KQi Air is the one you can haul up apartment stairs without regret. Dualtron Thunder 3 and VSETT 10+ user here. I wouldn't buy an unnamed brand, honestly.

VSETT 10+ is my first scoot. I like it a lot. A bit more than your budget.

I owned an Emove Cruiser, VSETT 10+, currently own a Teverun Blade Mini Ultra and am in the process of acquiring an Emove Roadrunner V2 (maybe not a traditional "e-scooter", but no pedals so ya know...). Also, it isn't really about where they come from but rather the quality of the parts they use and their manufacturing standards, who is running the show, whether they will be lazy and let a loose stem slide past their QC check phase and call it a day, or address the root cause of it and improve it. Some of the best products in the world are made in China (iPhones, LG TVs, DJI drones, etc.).

I have a connective tissue disorder that causes me to have problems with my back and all my joints. My knees in particular are quite bad. I don't find pushing scooters from the handlebars to be very difficult, as long as said scooter is under 80lbs or so. My old vsett was very heavy and took more force to move, and it was definitely a problem walking it through buildings at times. That said, as someone with joint issues, I would strongly recommend getting a bike instead. With a scooter your nerve issues are more likely to be an issue. Gripping the handlebars with both hands is required, you can't safely go one-handed like with a bike. Being able to rest one side would surely be useful for you. It's also more physically involved than you may expect. You'll need to use your body for balance and control of the scooter. Your upper body and core will be doing a lot of the work, but you're also controlling your centre of gravity with your legs. I'm actually planning to switch to an ebike myself because of my physical issues. Riding a scooter for more than an hour or two causes me a lot of pain. I'm going to try installing a seat in the near future, but bikes are far more stable, and therefore safer, vs a scooter with a seat added

If you go for the low price scooters then that is what you will get. And it’s usually the battery that suffers on these scooters. Whatever you do buy from a reputable dealer like RevRides as they use good quality battery’s even the cheapest option will last you years. Don’t be the one a year from now stuck with replacing an expensive battery for your not so old scooter. I have purchased 5 new scooters all Vsetts and one Zero which is before they changed the name to Vsett all with the less expensive batteries and all working almost as new some as old as 4 years.

Nami, Niu and Inmotion yes. The others? Kind of a crapshoot as to whether or not you get a good one. Segway is expensive for what it is by a decent bit imo, with tons of QC issues, vsett has seen a lot of QC issues as well and Dualtron is just behind most other brands on the tech and specs at what is, again, a really overpriced scooter for what you get. This is all my opinion however so take it with a grain of salt.

For a two mile commute you have complete freedom to pick whatever scooter you want. Most people needing range generally have to go with something heavier for the battery and higher speeds to make the trip not as long. I have a Vsett and G2 Max but I would really love a NIU KQi Air for something ultra light that I would attach a sling to and carry over the shoulder into shops.
