You should check Xiaomi Mi Essential or maybe Ninebot E22, both are around your budget and much better than Amazon knockoffs

The Urbanglide 100 Max is solid for that age range but might be pushing your budget a bit. Have you looked at the Xiaomi Mi scooters? The Mi Essential or Mi 1S could be perfect - they're not kiddie scooters but won't break the bank either, and they handle mixed terrain pretty well

Second-generation Xiaomi (an Essential, but it stopped being one two days after getting it out of the box). Put a big battery and 10" tires on it and it's still going strong today, four years and several thousand km down the line. Technically also a Kugoo S1 Plus, which didn't need any repair work at all for... oh, I wanna say two years. But then its battery died, so I'm not sure how much it counts in this context.

Something with 8-inch tires and no suspension like the old Xiaomi is perfectly fine for city commuting, but as long as you don't plan on going over 25kph or off road. The difference in size and weight is huge. My current dual motor 10-inch is 33kg, while the old Xiaomi is only 12.5kg. Of course it's also slow, shaky and has very little deck space but the difference in footprint and especially weight puts these scooters into completely different classes and use cases.

If you’re mainly commuting, I think you’re already looking in the right category. Segway (Ninebot) and Xiaomi are consistently the safest options when it comes to dependability and value. They have good build quality, readily available parts, and fewer long-term issues. The Hiboy is good but a little more inconsistent in terms of durability, while the Unagi is attractive but expensive for what you get.
