Fairly new concept of a product. Research says that u brushes are not the best at removing plaque on all the surfaces of teeth. Your best options are electrical rechargeable toothbrushes that have round oscillating heads. I can also add that in my clinical experience electrical toothbrushes are superior and the best options for consistent plaque removal. The best ones are expensive but worth the investment. They can last a full decade if you care for it properly therefore getting your money’s worth.

I personally use Oral b IO but the oral b genius X is great too. Another great brush is Phillips Sonicare with pressure sensor. https://www.bestproductsreviews.com/sonic%20toothbrush%20with%20pressure%20sensor?targetid=kwd-960361156&matchtype=e&device=m&campaignid=23519874716&creative=795668284290&adgroupid=192989034935&feeditemid=&loc_physical_ms=1027188&loc_interest_ms=&network=g&devicemodel=&placement=&keyword=$philips%20sonicare%20electric%20toothbrushes&target=&aceid=&adposition=&trackid=us_all_top_2025&mId=407-132-4411&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23519874716&gbraid=0AAAAACWZmZnCbLT498wecNTVfRLsZJliW&gclid=CjwKCAiAzZ_NBhAEEiwAMtqKywF0P1TfZugzuLCAwYg3C-ozXUpJhVONgh8GGRU6zXrCG_VlouGMCxoCsB0QAvD_BwE

I went to my routine dental hygienist check and everything was fine my gums looked healthy but she recommended me OralB IO the new toothbrushes because of the app tracking because I told her it took me 5 minutes to brush my teeth cause i keep feeling like i missed a spot or didn't do a good job and my geniusx oralb app tracks horribly inaccurate (I was using the older OralB GeniusX). Now I bought the newer IO toothbrush (tracking is just as awful btw so inaccurate i could be brushing same place for a minute and it wouldn't change from blue to white aka cleaned enough) and for the first time ever a toothbrush shows me how hard i should press. Red ring of light means press less and green light means perfect pressure. I have never brushed with pressure like this, have i been brushing wrong all my life? I brush with the green light aka perfect amount of pressure and some parts of my gums are sensitive, painful lightly. Will this go away? I'm brushing just like the toothbrush tells me to press hard enough till it lights and stays green. My default ring color is blue so it switches a lot from blue to green back to blue and green again because i sometimes can't maintain the amount of pressure needed to maintain the green light. Do my gums hurt because this is the first time i apply more pressure while brushing ? I'm not going to the dentist/hygienist for another six months and i don't want to apply less pressure and brush bad. Should i just keep brushing as is and hope the gums get used to it ?

I'm confused by what you said. Maybe it's because my English is my 4th language but if i don't apply pressure on my toothbrush the app warns me i need to apply more pressure AND the ring color on my toothbrush is not green. When the color of the ring is green is when I'm applying enough pressure. OralB added that green/red ring color on the toothbrush for a reason right. Red color says apply less pressure it's too much and green color means the right amount of pressure . My default ring color I picked blue so if I don't apply pressure and color stays at blue my app warns me I need to apply more pressure AND thr color of the ring stays blue when it should be green according to OralBs manual. Does blanch mean whiten? Thanks in advance for your reply. And apologies for my not good enough English.

But my dental hygienist told me NOT to buy the softer heads because they don't clean as well as the ultimate clean aka default one. Also in this thread so far no one really answered my question. One person told me I shouldn't be applying that much pressure but I'm brushing according to the instructions. My default brush color (ring of light on my brush) is blue and i apply a bit of pressure to reach color green and try to stay there. The ring color of my IO brush needs to be green for the right amount of pressure. That's all the pressure i used. I don't brush in red color (which is too much pressure). Like ORALB manual says brush in green color which i need to apply a bit of pressure to get to. Ah well I don't know how to solve this problem just gotta hang on for another 6 months till i visit my dental hygienist i guess.

Nah I had one of the expensive ones, geniusx or something have the exact same problem. But it broke right before warranty ended, so I got it replaced for free. That one broke right after warranty ended for the same problem.

husband and I have been sharing the same oral-b "genius" or whatever it's called for almost 9 years now (we have our own heads). Both of us have seen immense improvements at the dentist. idk about misuse but my oral-b has 4 different settings the dentist above mentioned (as a patch) if it's too harsh for sensitive gums. It pulses every 30 seconds until 2 minutes is up which helps me with adequate brushing. Just my experience, but maybe the model is more relevant in this situation!

It’s absolutely disgusting. I do not recommend the IO to my patients any longer because of this issue and I run the head in an ultrasonic pod weekly (as well as taking off the brush head, letting it air dry, wiping down the handle, etc. I am METICULOUS and it’s gnarly.) The Oral-B genius series is a lot easier to take care of, but it’s the old series and it’s a lot louder/clunkier of a brush but still effective. I just switched back to my BURST Pro toothbrush, which is a similar toothbrush to sonicare in terms of movements and it has a lifetime warranty if it breaks. If that’s something you’d be interested in giving a shot you could use my promo code KXBGHA. Otherwise, sonicare is also a solid brush, but I would make sure to get one with at least three intensities (which is different from modes!)
