I use the Oral-B iO 10. It was expensive, but I haven’t had a cavity since. I use Hayden expanding floss to really get all the food out from between my teeth and I floss every time I eat. bioténe toothpaste and Tom’s of Maine wicked fresh mouthwash, because I’m allergic to almost every other brand.

I have an oral-b io10 that I got for ~£330. Definitely not worth the additional cost for the marginal benefits that it provides when compared to a £150-200 equivalent from sonicare and the older io models. Although it does look nice on the stand I suppose.. Given that I the expected lifetime based on my previous toothbrush was almost 10 years, the cost per use is 4.5p which is insignificant if you think about it that way, but it could have been closer to 2/3p. Oh, and the replacement heads cost a fortune.

All I know is that I had more dental issues with Oral B but clean exams with Sonicare- I think because the Sonicare is more dummy proof for people not great with brushing. I just find it easier to use their larger brush heads. I like the gentle mode best. BUT the Sonicare is not BIFL - you'll need to replace it in 5 years or so, when it dies quietly.

**Hello everyone!** **If you've successfully reduced your periodontal pockets and maintained stable measurements (ideally around 2–3mm), please share your story and routine below!** **TL;DR: Diagnosed with periodontitis, doing deep cleanings + strict routine. Gums no longer bleed. Looking for routines that helped reduce pockets to 2–3mm and kept it stable.** I was recently diagnosed with periodontitis, Stage III, Grade B. with bone loss. My pocket depths were mostly 3-4 mm, a few 5 mm, and one 7mm at the back. Also 2 root canal treated front teeth from old trauma that have a lot of gum loss / gum regression. My picture here: [https://imgur.com/a/AooKxJk](https://imgur.com/a/AooKxJk) **I now use the following tools / products to improve my disease:** 1. Electric toothbrush (Oral-B iO, “Gentle Care” head) 2. A smaller toothbrush to target certain areas (Curaprox 1006) 3. A water flosser (budget model from Temu) 4. TePe Easypicks + TePe interdental toothbrushes in various sizes 5. A bag of xylitol powder (1 tsp added to water to rinse mouth) 6. Antibacterial toothpaste – Parodontax Active Gum Repair (SLS-free, with stannous fluoride) 7. Mild toothpaste – "Zendium PRO GUMS + Sensitivity" OR "Zendium Sensitivity" (SLS-free, xylitol) 8. Antibacterial mouthwash (chlorhexidine, short term 1-2 weeks at most) 9. Chlorhexidine gel (to put on smaller toothbrush or interdental brush) 10. 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (1:1 with water) for monthly mouthwash rinse 11. Everyday mouthwash with xylitol 12. Coconut oil (for oil pulling) 13. Pink himalayan salt (for salt rinses) 14. Probiotics (BioGaia Prodentis or GUM Periobalance for L. Reuteri bacteria strains) 15. Disclosing dental tablets to see if any missed spots on teeth (tepe plaqsearch) I also found out how to brush my teeth properly (45° degree angle), as shown in this video: [Stop Gum Disease with These Brushing Techniques](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=tobt-klsltg) (from Dr Gurs Sehmi) **This is my current routine, which is quite simple:** \- Morning: 1. Sometimes: water flosser after breakfast (depends on breakfast) 2. Interdental brushes in various sizes OR just TePe Easypick to save time if stressed in the morning 3. Electric toothbrush about 4-5 minutes (45° angle) 4. Optional xylitol mouth wash, before going out \- Evening: 1. Water flosser (always after last meal) 2. Interdental brushes in various sizes (always evenings, and atleast 1x a day) 3. Electric toothbrush about 5-6 minutes (45° angle) 4. 1x Probiotic (if I'm not using antibacterial products that evening) \- Extras (occasionally, not something I do strictly or daily): 1. Salt water rinse (pink Himalayan salt) 2. Xylitol mouthwash rinses after eating 3. 1 tsp xylitol powder added to tea or coffee 4. Water flossing after meals 5. Xylitol chewing gum during the day \- Extras if inflammation, bleeding, post deep cleaning or post wisdom teeth removal: 1. Monthly hydrogen peroxide rinse (3%) 2. Chlorhexidine (Corsodyl), short-term, up to 2 weeks It is my belief that after SRP / deep cleaning, anyone with the correct, strict routine can decrease their pockets to a normal size (2-3mm) and keep the pockets stable at those levels. **My progess so far:** I've only done 3 out of 4 quadrant deep cleanings, so I can't report any major results yet. But: My gums no longer bleed, inflammation is gone, gums look pink and healthy, and I've also removed my wisdom teeth recently. Since I no longer seem to have any inflammation or bleeding, I thought about moving away from the most strong antibacterial products (chlorhexidine, hydrogen peroxide, parodontax toothpaste) and focus on rebuilding oral flora instead, using Zendium Sensitive toothpaste, xylitol and probiotics every evening. Anyway, I don't know if all of this is necessary, or if I have missed something important, or if my routine is optimal or not - it's just stuff I've decided to try after reading on this reddit, other peoples success stories, and on various internet forums. My wish is just to do the deep cleaning once or twice, reduce pockets on my own and keep a strict but simple routine for the rest of my life. So... **If you've had any success (at reducing and maintaining pockets):** * What worked for you? * What you think made the biggest difference” * What would you add or remove from my routine? Or general feedback? Any tips, lessons, or inspiration would help me (and others) a lot! I saved some success stories from this subreddit and asked ChatGPT to make some statistics, can be seen here: [https://imgur.com/a/eC2dqzd](https://imgur.com/a/eC2dqzd)

Oral B have basic £10 models that take AA batteries. Given the lack of plug sockets in our bathroom it was a natural choice when our fancy £150 9000 series with external display unit stopped working. We already had a clock in the bathroom so no need for a 30s timer. A pair of rechargeable AA batteries lasts about 3 weeks.

One of the old Oral Bs came an LCD screen that smileS when you brushed your teeth right. I live alone and I brush my teeth well for that smile first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
