I had the same so I asked my dentist for an recommendation, she recommended oral b io series and the latest/newest one. Waaay to expensive. I was willing to spend up to 100€, did some research and bought oral b io4 (an older series). A red light will flash if you use too much pressure. And that was what I needed. Oral b has also a pro series but the io series is nicer to use and also quieter.
Edellisen sähköhammasharjan käyttö loppu just akun heikkouden takia. 70€ tais olla alennuksessa eli abaut kahden "normaalin" verran ja toivon mukaa kestää myös kaks kertaa pidempään. Miinusta kalliista päistä tosin.
As a dental professional, the iO 4 is enough. You don't need any of the extra features unless you want to see the timer on the screen, in which case I think that's the 5. I've seen huge improvements in patients when they've gone to an electric toothbrush and even when they've upgraded to the iO there have been further improvements. It's got the latest technology which is basically the old oral B brushes and sonicare combined. It's also not as loud as the cheaper oral B brushes, and feels different to brush with. I've found that friends and family that are neurodivergent and struggled with the sensation of brushing with other brushes have felt more comfortable with the iO. Your dentist and hygienist will definitely be able to see the difference if you get one. I really like mine and wouldn't go back to the old style. And no, I'm not sponsored by oral B, I just really feel the difference with the brushes and want all of my patients to have the best oral hygiene :)
As a dental hygienist, yes, they make a massive difference! There's even a difference between the make/model. I've had patients upgrade from a standard Oral B electric toothbrush to an Oral B iO (the latest one which has new technology) and there's been a big improvement in their cleanliness even though they haven't changed anything else. I don't get paid by Oral B, I wish I did, but I bloody love their toothbrushes (I'm a weirdo, I know). I encourage all of my patients to get one, and make sure it has a round head and a pressure sensor. If you do go for the iO, you don't need anything above the iO 3, really. The 4 has a screen which shows the battery percentage and a timer, which I personally find really useful but it costs a little bit more than the 3. They're often on offer online. The heads are more expensive than the standard brushes but they're well worth it. The brushes are quieter and don't rattle as much, I've found a lot of neurodivergent people that struggled to use an older style electric toothbrush have had a lot more success with the iO (several patients, my brother and my best friend, heck I even converted a patient last Friday that was otherwise terrified of an electric toothbrush!). I've seen people go from manual to electric brushes and it's reversed gingivitis. I've seen it help to stabilise periodontitis. Gums are usually so much healthier, and there's a lot less plaque. There's less bleeding, too! A good toothbrush will save you so much money when it comes to dental treatment. It's honestly one of the best investments anyone could make for themselves.
I switched to an io4 last year, and immediately noticed the amount of extra crap which was coming out vs my previous electric brush. Wouldn't use all the gimmicky features of the more flash ones, though.
The Oral B is pretty much an iO Series 4 minus the Bluetooth capability. I’m guessing it’s a Costco specific version. I have an iO Series 7 and I love it, the brush heads do a really good job of cleaning teeth and the led to let you know if you’re pressing too hard is nice too.
Ive had them all, pricey and base versions too. From my personal experience, one or two levels above base models (oral-b io4 or Sonicare 4100 are great) clean every bit as well as the top models so don't waste your money. Also, Oral-b IO brush heads are WAY more expensive on average so overall its more cost effective to go with Sonicare. They will ALL brush most effectively for about 1.5-2 years, then the motors and/or battery noticeable weaken and dont brush as well. Again, if you buy the near base models on sale (typically $30) its no big deal to replace every 1.5 years or so other than the guilty conscience for adding more plastics to the world. If they have issues early on (only ever had an issue with an Oral-b battery dying about 6mo in), both companies were great about sending out another replacement handle. Sonicare batteries tended to last me 2 weeks between charges while Oral B IO lasts about 1 week. So I took the Sonicare on short work trips without the charger. Take the brush head off and its easy to pack. Lastly, the Sonicare's seem to get my teeth cleaner feeling when new, but dropped off faster after about 1 year (so I replace them at that time). The oral-b IO isnt as great at first but remained more consistent throughout until aboutj 1.5 years in, so I replaced the io4 then. Why have both? Why not? I was curious like most people and both were about $40 on sale several times throughout the year on Amazon.
100% bought iO4 - and it basically went all mouldy regardless of how well I cleaned it. Using a normal toothbrush until I can find a replacement and it might be that Suri is the answer.
Io4 is great, the higher number range are extra gadgets on the app which are fun if you have them but not essential. The higher ones can scan your mouth and know which teeth you have missed. The lower like 4 ( I think that's what I have) brushes really well, has a timer, pressure sensor and if you connect to your phone it knows how long you have actually brushed your teeth, not just had it on for that length. Everything you need and more. I like it. I switch between my old cheap oral B and my io when one runs out of battery. Just learn the technique of using an electric compared to a manual
>but it’s just a toothbrush. Noticeably better motor on the io, I've an io4 I paid 70 for and the difference compared to my basic Colgate electric was mad felt like I'd let my teeth down!
I’ve got a iO4, apart from the ’party lights’ when I’ve brushed long enough and the green = good, red = too hard lights in use I don’t use or know of any of it’s other features, I don’t use the app etc. So yes it’s a good toothbrush, which I would recommend but only when it’s on offer, otherwise opt for something cheaper
