I can advocate that they are crap for teeth hygiene! I had one for about a year and had so many issues. I've switched back to oral b io9

I’ve got the iO9 and have had non-stop battery issues since having it. It’ll just stop working ~60% charge level and has done for the 4 years I’ve had it. I put in a warranty claim to see if they could fix it but they denied it because I waited over a year to submit it. So now I have to do DIY amends and replace the battery every year because I refuse to bin a £200 toothbrush… Serves me right for being slow at complaining I guess, but I do hate to complain, I’m British

Thing is, yes it’s true battery’s degrade and I’m totally aware of that. But Braun / OralB told me replacing the battery isn’t possible when I contacted them, they said I’d need to buy a new toothbrush. There isn’t an easy way to replace the battery, you need to kinda ‘hack’ it out of there and buy a non-standard battery you wont find in shops, only online. I only had my toothbrush for 6 months before it started giving up at 60%. I only charge it when it runs out of battery as my charger is away from the bathroom, so that’s every 4-5 days. Hardly taxing on the battery. For this toothbrush to be truly BIFL it would need to be easier to replace the battery in my opinion. I can’t recommend it.

Yep it’s an iO9, I used this video here to replace the battery: https://youtu.be/KA_yf5XpWBs?si=KgKjMpPxCROcWSm1 Agreed it’s not a hard fix, but it’s not suggested by OralB and for most consumers they wouldn’t bother doing it and just buy a new brush… The battery needed is a 14500 li-ion battery which I’ve never seen in a physical shop in the UK, I tried but couldn’t find one, had to order online. Again adding another hurdle to fixing the brush. I was more upset because the iO9 replaced an old rechargeable OralB which I literally had for 10 years and never had to touch the battery, that brush cost £20 instead of the £200 iO9 one.

Oral B IO series 5-7 is what I usually recommend to my patients. I use the oral b IO series 9 (received that free from a rep). But I try to understand cost with giving my patients a high quality recommendation. But love it!!! Has a 2 minute timer, oscillates which I think is more beneficial, pressure sensor, bunch of different settings, quieter than most.

Oral B...specifically Oral B iO (have the series 9–goes to series 10). Cosmetic dentist recommended a basic model but I told him I'd been using the expensive Series 9 iO for 2 years.

Interestingly, the (Braun) OralB iO are made in Germany, at least the io9 I got from an auction is. P&G is a garbage company, but I have no intention of purchasing the original branded heads, which is what they are actually making money on. (there even is a local company specializing on making the "aftermarket" heads) It's worth noting that all the recent scientific literature seems to be pointing towards oralb having better results, specifically the oscillating-rotating with micro vibrations.
