So fun story with Oral-B. I bought my first one in 2003 and it was still functioning as of 2018 although the battery was getting weak and it would die right at 2 minutes, so I decided to upgrade. I bought the Pro-7000 SmartSeries which at the time was the top of the line model. It didn't feel any different from my old one. It was the same size, shape and weight. Except it would pulse every 30 seconds, and at 2 minutes it pulsed differently to let you know you have brushed for a full 2 minutes. It had Bluetooth integration for you phone which I used once, and a little digital clock that came with it that would display how long and how hard you are brushing your teeth. In my new house I sometimes either wake up or go to bed while my wife is sleeping, so I decided to get another Oral-B for my office. This time I went with the most basic model, the Pro-1000. I was surprised to realize, this one was actually far more comfortable to hold as it's thinner and lighter and felt like it brushed more thoroughly too. I ended up using this one like 70% of the time I brush my teeth, while I used the 7000 only 30%. Now in 2025 my 7000 abruptly stopped working. I have tossed it and replaced it with a 5000. The 5000 feels like it brushes twice as fast as the 7000 or the 1000. It's not quite as thin or light as the 1000 but it's closer to that than the 7000 or my original one. I don't know if the 5000 will be as reliable as the 1000s but when it comes to Oral-B, the more expensive ones are often actually worse than the cheaper ones.
I don't know about the other brands - but I've been using my Oral-B professional care with smart guide since about 2005. Still going to this day, but I don't know how things have gone with them in the past 20 years because I haven't had to think about it...
That’s frustrating , I’m pretty sure they’re all waterproof! I’ve had my Oral B Triumph for 15 years and it’s going without issue.
Oral-B Vitality is good, costs about 1.5k. The more expensive ones have fancy modes which are honestly useless. However, I will recommend you to get one with a pressure sensor. It helped me apply the right pressure, saving my enamel in the long run. You might also want to consider battery life if you plan to travel without carrying the charger. I have the Oral-B Smart 7 which can go for like 5-7 days on a full charge. Do NOT go for the one with the AA batteries that cost about 500, they don’t clean very well.
I purchased the Oral B 7 series after reading about it in Consumer Reports. It makes my teeth feel really clean like after you’ve been to the dentist. I previously used a Phillips Sonicare. Search around for the best price. I found the best price at Target.
I have a 3757 which looks the same as yours but is much cheaper. It probably is legit the same toothbrush with yours having some marketed extra to push the price point 4x higher. Mine is always dripping water so I bet my handle has the same problem
