My Oral-B 5000 came with a wireless clock that showed my brushing time. Gimmicky but weirdly motivating.
So fun story with Oral-B. I bought my first one in 2003 and it was still functioning as of 2018 although the battery was getting weak and it would die right at 2 minutes, so I decided to upgrade. I bought the Pro-7000 SmartSeries which at the time was the top of the line model. It didn't feel any different from my old one. It was the same size, shape and weight. Except it would pulse every 30 seconds, and at 2 minutes it pulsed differently to let you know you have brushed for a full 2 minutes. It had Bluetooth integration for you phone which I used once, and a little digital clock that came with it that would display how long and how hard you are brushing your teeth. In my new house I sometimes either wake up or go to bed while my wife is sleeping, so I decided to get another Oral-B for my office. This time I went with the most basic model, the Pro-1000. I was surprised to realize, this one was actually far more comfortable to hold as it's thinner and lighter and felt like it brushed more thoroughly too. I ended up using this one like 70% of the time I brush my teeth, while I used the 7000 only 30%. Now in 2025 my 7000 abruptly stopped working. I have tossed it and replaced it with a 5000. The 5000 feels like it brushes twice as fast as the 7000 or the 1000. It's not quite as thin or light as the 1000 but it's closer to that than the 7000 or my original one. I don't know if the 5000 will be as reliable as the 1000s but when it comes to Oral-B, the more expensive ones are often actually worse than the cheaper ones.
Oral b 2000 or 5000. Don’t pay more than $200 for an e brush. All you need is a soft bristled toothbrush and a pressure sensor. I personally like the 5000 because it has a “sensitive” setting that works better than the 2000’s sensitive setting
Personally I found it to be different. Both will suffice. I recommend all of my patients oral b 5000 (if budget allows) or the oral b 2000 because I truly don’t believe the “more expensive, the better” in this case. The oral b 5000 is a happy medium between cost and efficacy with plaque removal Note: both have lights to indicate pressure which is a good feature for patients
Pro Tip: If your recession is happening due to brushing too hard, I usually suggest patients try holding the toothbrush with their fingertips only to prevent them from pressing too hard. It will feel like you’re not pushing hard enough, but that’s just because you’ve been pushing too hard this whole time. You don’t have to buy an electric toothbrush if you can train yourself to stop brushing so hard. Short Answer: Oral B Smart 5000 lights up if you apply too much pressure. Usually around $50-60. Buy a water flosser. Is it actually your gums that are sensitive or is it the tooth sensitive due to root exposure? Gum sensitivity typically happens due to bacterial toxins irritating the gums which leads to information and bleeding. Fixing this issue requires routinely removing the bacteria, so the gums are able to heal. (I tell patients to think about food, plaque, and bacteria below your gums like a splinter in your arm. If you wash your arm every day, but you don’t remove the splinter, your arm is not going to get better.) If you’re actually dealing with sensitivity due to exposed roots, I suggest getting a sensitivity toothpaste (or an Rx for ClinPro) and use your finger to spread it around your sensitive areas and DO NOT RINSE. This will allow the active ingredients to soak in while you’re sleeping and do their job effectively. When you brush with them, you usually end up rinsing it all away and don’t get the full benefits. My best advice is to brush and Waterpik before bed. I’ve been a dental hygienist for 15 years and I don’t use string floss. I use a Waterpik and recommend them to all of my patients. It’s also best to get a routine dental cleaning every six months. :) Water flossers: Water flossers are clinically proven to be more effective than string floss. Think of it like a pressure washer for your gums. Use WARM water (cold does NOT feel good) and the highest pressure that’s comfortable for you. Start low and find your sweet spot with pressure. Run it along the gum line, and pause between the teeth. You’ll feel the water pulse between the teeth - if not, rock it back and forth a bit in that spot. Countertop: https://wv3.io/WhEnXcrz Cordless: https://wv3.io/FBh8EVyQ (This is the only cordless one I recommend to my patients because it’s the only one that has the pressure dial so you can set exactly the pressure that’s best for you. Others just have you toggle through low/medium/high.)
I have Oralb clean 5000. With a manual brush the dental hygienist would pick plaque off my teeth for what felt like hours. With the spinbrush its no more than a 1/2 hour and lots of comments about how clean my teeth are.
Oral B for life. My last Oral B Pro 5k lasted from 2014 to 2025. NiMH battery was the failure point. It just wouldn't hold a charge. Dont get the iO, the brush heads are more expensive. Get the Pro version. Its fantastic and with LiIon battery you'll be set for 15 years plus.
I’ve used a number of Oral B smart brushes over the last 15 years and haven’t had any issue. The only problem I’ve had is the newest line, the battery is not holding much of a charge anymore. But this isn’t really a brush issue, it’s a battery. And you can replace them.
I agree. I bought the 500 model with cross action head and feels clean. Pati likod ng teeth nalilinis nya. After a week pati si misis bumili. One year na din sa amin.
I can't deinfluence you. Also recommended by dentists. But not just any electric toothbrush. Wag yung mga replaceable batteries. Only rechargeable Buy the "Oscillating" ones. Not just any electric.
Oral B. But Xiaomi is a good brand also. Kahit yung water flossing.
I've had the oral B rotating ones for ages but ended up switching to Philips sonicare, a million times better in all aspects for me. It cleans much better throughout, no gum damage, quicker and the heads last longer. They are more expensive to replace, but they are worth it in the long term with less replacements needed. There are alternative heads on Amazon that are cheaper, some are good but others can destroy your gums, so it's a hit and miss if you take the cheaper replacement option. I believe even the basic models of sonicare have pressure monitoring, if you press it too hard it will give you a warning.
