I bought this Sonicare about 1.5 years ago on Amazon for under $20 - Still works great. I've used sonicare for the past 10 years and have been satisfied, with my hygienist commenting that they could tell I use an electric toothbrush. However I have found that they tend to fail after about 3-5 years, and instead of buying another set from Costco for $150+, I just bought a basic one from Amazon for around $30 and it works just as well.
search for Sonicare 1100 Power on Amazon - it is a "basic" Sonicare model, not Amazon Basic
My $19-20 1100 one is still working 9 years later too. Except I haven't noticed my battery drain :)
The 1100 at walmart for $19-20 has lasted me 9+ years and has not gotten worse or anything. Love it!
I tried an electric toothbrush once and hated it because I felt like I cleaned my teeth better with a manual. At the time, I didn't know squat about electric toothbrushes so I think I can attribute me hating it to not knowing any better and I got a dumb vibrating one that was cheap. Later on in my adult years, I bought a Philips Sonicare 1100 for $19-20 at walmart and I've had the same one since. Think I was 22-23 when I bought it? I am now 28 almost 29. It was a learning curve at first but now I could never go without it and put people on the same one. Not sure why people are adamant on sonicares not lasting lol because mine has lasted THIS long lol (unless they are dropping it a lot or something silly). I also clean the part where you would connect a head onto as well as leaving that dirty and built up will affect the motor and etc. So maybe people aren't taking care of theirs well or they got defective units. Thinking about getting a 4100 though because it has more power and I'm a geek about my dental routine. :) I'd also like to remark that going from manual to electric, it's still just a matter of learning how to use it and adapting (whether sensation, brushing, etc). It tickled me at first too but after using it for a week, I didn't even notice it lol.
Damn, that's even better than my suggestion, the low end Sonicare 1100 that's also $20 but has a built in battery that will eventually die. I'll definitely be upgrading to yours when mine can't hold a charge anymore. I already have a pile of rechargeable AAAs.
I have bought the Philips Sonicare 1100 for about $20 CAD (on sale) for the last 6 years as a secret Santa gift for my crew back home. Converted all of them and I plan on continuing that tradition for a while. Should be able to get replacement brush heads on Amazon easy. My first Philips toothbrush lasted for 9 years. Probably the best purchase I made and my teeth have never been cleaner. Good luck 👍🏽.
**Don't get a sonicare one, it's not the same technology inside. Get the cheapest regular sonicare you can** (or preferably the cheapest with a pressure sensor). All the regular sonicares have identical cleaning performance. **The Philips One has less than half the number of brush strokes per minute at 13,000 per minute.** *The comparison charts do not show the same clinical benefits on their own website comparison tool.*
Don't, yours is better. It has more than twice the number of brush strokes per minute and has all the clinically proven benefits, the One does not and is a lesser model. The regular sonicare models are also compatible with all first party and third party brushheads, iirc the One uses something different
