Every sonicard that I've bought has broken down within 2 years. They are good but definitely not BIFL.

I replaced my Sonicare e series because the heads were getting difficult to find. I bought the new 5300 Sonicare. It feels great to use, but because both my wife and I use it, we take the brushes on and off daily. It lasted about a year or so, then broke. Sonicare replaced it. The replacement lasted about 3 months. Sonicare would not replace it again. If you can leave the head on, this is a fantastic brush. If not, I would not recommend it. The older screw on brush heads were the best. We gave ours to my son and it is still going strong after 10 plus years. The new ones, not so good.

This is a fact. I had the original sonicare which I loved except for the bulky replacement heads. When it died I bought a fancy one with different speeds etc. but only ever use it on ‘high’. I do like the quadpace timer though and would recommend that feature.

Sonicares are crap - broken 2 or 3. Oral Bs have been solid. The original sonicare was actually really well made.

My first Sonicare toothbrush was their base version that sold for $78 at Target. This was in 2002 when there was on a few versions. The replacement head was some screw in type. That toothbrush handle lasted me 9 yrs. Nowadays, they definitely don’t last as long. I’d be lucky to get 3 yrs till the internal connector piece to the toothbrush head fails. You can YouTube how to “fix” them, but you’ll also see why it’s a terrible mechanical design.

I have had a Philips Sonicare E-Series since 1994 or 2007. (I was gifted 2 in 1994 & bought 2 in 2007.) I buy refill heads on eBay. The battery lasts 2 plus weeks, still. One of 4 bases began rattling very loud last week & I’m calling it. That’s a good run. The new Phillips have poor durability reviews online, so I’m considering buying the old model again. I've used Sonicare for at least two decades. My first brush was E-series lasted me for like 15 years and the only reason why I upgraded it is because I fell in love with the look of DiamondClean series. That first E-series brush was actually still going strong when I got rid of it. DiamondClean was the best because unlike the cheaper models it didn't have any nukes and crannies for gunk to collect it, especially on the bottom because there was no hole for the charger. It looked amazing, but after 7 years the button finally stopped working - it's not sealed and while I always rinse and wipe down the brush after use eventually there was enough build-up to stop working. When I went ahead to look for replacements I was horrified at the price points. I will never get another diamond clean again because now I know the button is a weak point and no matter how much of a clean freak you are, eventually it will get all clogged up. So, for that ultra clean design and minimalist appeal Prestige is really the only option for me. But I just cannot bring myself to cough up that kind of coin. And I know I'll never use any of the smart features. It may be a darn good toothbrush, but it's still a toothbrush, and I want to use it like a toothbrush. I bought 4300 series, low budget model which only has one cleaning mode. I hate that it has all the nooks and crannies for the residue to collect, but it's cheap enough where I really don't care if I have to dispose of it. Build quality is definitely NOT there. I'll be surprised if it lasts me for more than two years. But cleaning experience is the same as DiamondClean,, which I kept just on clean mode and never used any of the smart features. I do miss how easy it was to keep clean that brush though. Can't win.
