It was around Xmas time at Costco. It was this one: Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart, model#HX9904. it's [$179 for two sets at Costco](https://www.costco.com/p/-/philips-sonicare-diamondclean-smart-electric-rechargeable-toothbrush-2-pack/4000381005?DM_PersistentCookieCreated=true&langId=-1), so my partner and I each got one. I thought it was a pretty good deal seeing that they are normally $200 each for the full set, including the charging glass and chargeable carrying case. I haven't had any issues, it is sleek and clean, the heads are also always for at costco. I also like that if I charge the travel case ahead of time, I can travel for like 2 weeks without needing to recharge. I also like that the typical charging cord is protected by a glass that the toothbrush actually sits in, meaning it never gets wet or jostled around. Anyway, others might have a different opinion, but I like it a lot compared to the Oral B, and the charger on that oral B stopped working eventually. Also, costco is nice because if something \*did\* eventually happen to it, I could go in an exchange it. But I've had this for quite a few years and it feels brand new.

go for [Philips Sonicare ](https://www.reddit.com/r/recsmatter/comments/1pswa4s/philips_sonicare_diamondclean_smart_9300_premium/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)rather than Oral-B many people prefer philips sonicare over oral b because the sonic vibration action feels gentler on gums while still removing more plaque than a manual brush sonicare tends to be better on the gums and generally more thorough, while oral b sometimes feels more intense but isnt always as comfortable for daily use.

My last sonicare lasted over 7 years, it wasn't even dead when I ugraded to the $300 version and I have no regrets, it is something you use everyday, if not twice a day if it works it is worth it to last that long, in most cases you only have to worry about the battery losing charge and that is kind of unavoidable, unless you know of a brand that lets you repalce your own battery, although after like 10 years I would probably just want a new device with advances in tech and just general wear and tear.

My Sonicare with travel case (with integrated charger) is by far the best electric toothbrush I have ever used. Came here to say this.

Not bulky, no. And the built in charger is a blessing.

I've been using Sonicare toothbrushes forever. I usually get the package of 2 of them, in case I can convince my husband to use one (unsuccessful so far) or for travel. I like the one I have now since it has more "intelligence" and lets me know when to replace the brush head.

I had the Rolls Royce Sonicare that was like $200 and it broke just like you said within a couple years. Replaced it with the $60 version and it’s lasted way longer. Dentist said those super expensive ones are just so rich people can feel like they’re doing a better job than most.  I also changed how I brush. I used to press down pretty hard and go back and forth super fast like I would with a manual toothbrush. Started just moving slowly over the teeth with medium pressure at most, and I think that has contributed to the longevity as well.
