Philips Sonicare - ProtectiveClean 5300 Sonic electric toothbrush (HX6423/34)

I ended up picking up a sonicare 5300. Pretty happy so far, it definitely feels different coming from the oral b, but I’ve been happy with it and my teeth feel clean

I replaced my Sonicare e series because the heads were getting difficult to find. I bought the new 5300 Sonicare. It feels great to use, but because both my wife and I use it, we take the brushes on and off daily. It lasted about a year or so, then broke. Sonicare replaced it. The replacement lasted about 3 months. Sonicare would not replace it again. If you can leave the head on, this is a fantastic brush. If not, I would not recommend it. The older screw on brush heads were the best. We gave ours to my son and it is still going strong after 10 plus years. The new ones, not so good.

Interesting, majority of Philips stuff in Croatia is with "Made in China" tag. I guess Phillips sees Adriatic countries as a second class citizens.

Had 5300, it was tagged with "Made in China". Not that it matters, it was still good product.

I had my previous Philips toothbrush for 12 years until it broke down. It was at that time the most expensive model they had. Then I bought the prestige version and it broke down within a year. Now I'm using the 5300. Cheap and does the job. Can't tell the difference between the posh one and this £50 version. Philips quality has deteriorated so get the cheap one

When my trusty Oral-B Pro finally gave out a few days ago, I found myself choosing between the Oral-B iO3 and the Philips Sonicare 5300. After thorough research, I went with the Philips, and here's why. While the iO series looked promising, several issues gave me pause. The most concerning was the widespread mold problem affecting the brush head attachment system. Despite Oral-B's [own tutorial](https://youtu.be/AGUJhExXN-A) recommending an almost obsessive cleaning routine after each use (disassemble, wash, and dry every component), people still reported mold growth due to the flawed design. The economics didn't help either. Replacement heads cost €20 for a 4-pack with no compatible third-party alternatives, making it significantly more expensive than the older Pro series. Add to that the mediocre 17-day battery life (per [Electric Teeth's](https://www.electricteeth.com/uk/oral-b-io3-review/) testing), and the iO started losing its appeal. The fact that it's made by American-owned P&G was another consideration for me. The Sonicare 5300 checked all my boxes. Philips' toothbrush division remains Dutch-owned, and the units are manufactured in the Netherlands. The battery life is supposed to be 46 days on a single charge, according to [Electric Teeth](https://www.electricteeth.com/uk/sonicare-series-5300-review/). After using it for a while, I'm impressed with the build quality and cleaning performance. It's noticeably quieter than my old Oral-B, and I appreciate that the battery is user-replaceable (just one Torx screw externally and one Phillips screw inside). All Philips electric toothbrushes use the same attachment system, giving you plenty of options from both Philips and third-party manufacturers. I picked up an 8-pack of the newer C1 BrushSync heads for €20 which is double the quantity of Oral-B iO heads for the same price. Overall, I'm really happy with the switch. This toothbrush addresses all the issues I had with the Oral-B Pro while offering better battery life, quieter operation, and much more affordable replacement heads. It's been a solid upgrade.

It's even better to buy a toothbrush made in the Netherlands with headquarters in Amsterdam, which is exactly what I did.

Service Katastrophe. Bei mir war der Akku nach 2,5 Jahren tot. Wollte den tauschen und dabei ist die Gummiabdichtung oben kaputt gegangen. Keine Chance auf Ersatzteil. Und das bei dem Preis. Habe jetzt die Sonicare 5300.. wesentlich bessere Reinigungsleistung und sub 70eur

Hab die Sonicare 5300. Hat 2 Stufen (am liebsten wäre mir einfach on/off) und ab dem Modell den "großen" Motor drin

Just bought a Sonicare 5300 after seeing they were manufactured in the Netherlands. Very happy with it.

I got a diamond clean in 2017 and it finally died on me. Wanted to get another one (from Costco) but got annoyed that it has a smart feature which I think is unnecessary for a toothbrush. So I went for the ProtectiveClean 5300 since it has the pressure sensor and a few cleaning modes. Love it and I don’t notice a difference from the DiamondClean.

Also ich bin Fan von Schall, das ist aber eher persönliche Präferenz. Ich bin mit Phillips Sonicare seit 10 Jahren sehr zufrieden. So viel Geld brauchst du gar nicht ausgeben. Von der Technik her, sind die Sonicare alle relativ gleich. Du zahlst eher für Bluetooth oder Progamme (die eigentlich nichts bringen). Die 5300 gibt es mit Reisebox schon für 60€. Damit macht man nichts verkehrt.
