I have absolutely no problem with them when they work but the grinder on my Laspecialista seized with the slip clutch engaged. It was unable to reliably grind a medium roast coffee. I had no access to the burrs and could not clear the obstruction...... which was only medium roast beans. There are videos on YouTube of people having the same problem. It even did this in a review yet I stupidly bought one anyway and then had the same problem. https://youtu.be/ZR6GvfMLp5U?si=pLhxs65Jbr14gKKJ One thing about Breville machines is that they clearly put an emphasis on the grinder. They have baratza precision burrs, are easily accessible, cleanable, and have additional internal adjustments. The beans my specialista seized on are the same medium roast beans I have been using in my DeLonghi super automatics without issue. The grinder on the la specialista touch is of a poor design, was not sufficiently tested, cannot reliably grind medium roast beans, and as such is a total disappointment.
I really love DeLonghi superautomatics but the semi auto LaSpecilate line with integrated grinders not as much. The grinder in My LaSpecilate touch choked on medium roast beans and with no way to access and clear the burrs of the obstruction I had to return the machine. For cheap non-built-in grinder machines I prefer the dedica maestro to the Breville Bambino because if it's adjustable temperature. When it comes to machines with integrated grinders I trust Breville over anyone else at this point. The baratza burr set in the barista pro and up has good performance and they accessible to the user. If you prefer single dosing a separate machine and low retention grindr may be preferable. Entertaining a crowd of guest regularly is where larger dual boiler machines become more appropriate. While the cheapest of machines like the DeLonghi Stilosa do a respectable job at making espresso and machines like the barista pro and impress serve single users quickly and efficiently,. The most important thing is matching your machine to your use case and needs.
We ended up getting a delonghi la specialista touch. The built in grinder crapped out a month in and we just got the replacement but got a separate grinder and it’s 10000% better than before. Not sure how similar these machines are but would recommend a different grinder if so
Have both delonghi specialista touch and Jura z8 and for milk based I suggest delonghi
You are wrong, I switched from $700 Delonghi La Specialista to La Marzocco! Way better taste and i have mine set to turn on at 6:30 am before i am up begore my morning routine! Machine tajes 5 min heat up time but it’s ysually on 30 min before my first espresso, and my mugs are hot as well!
Got a Delonghi Specialista, makes a good cuppa Joe. Espresso, Longo, hot water and a steam nozzle. Grinds beans too.
I used that machine everyday for 3 years until it died on me recently. It’s a great little machine! Though we since upgraded to the La Specialista and having the bean grinder is great.
