That’s why I got the Magnifica Evo Next. It gives you the different option.
Hi all I was tired of my Delonghi Magnifica EVO Next. It makes decent coffee and was an okay compromise with my girlfriend. I drink a V60 on the daily and buy ground coffee from a local roaster. As I'm a coffee enthusiast, I really wanted more flavor and control over the produced coffee (even got my girlfriend to be a bit more invested). This means I splurged on the Mazzer Philos (bought on the company VAT excluded for ~1000 EUR). Now I want to sell the coffee machine and get a semi. After research, it is clear most people prefer dual boiler. But it's also insanely more expensive. So I figured I could DIY an e24 with the Gaggimate mod. It would cost me 750 EUR. A typical day would include 1 or 2 Americanos, 1 to 2 Latte (for the girlfriend). Occasionally I would need to pull multiple shots when people are over and j don't want to be waiting forever between each shot. This is when I started considering a dual boiler. The Lelit Elizabeth and Sage Dual Boiler are both roughly 1250 so out of my range. But does the performance make it worth the extra money? Is there another machine to be recommended? I live in Belgium :) Cheers!
In Ontario as well we have the Delonghi Evo got it on sale with tax for $600CAD last march Made over 1,000 milk based drinks on the machine its been very good and easy to use and to maintain We had been Nespresso Original line drinkers before and had very good reliability from Delonghi machines in the past. Its an entry level machine but makes coffee like most of the expensive models but without the fancy screen and apps. The beans you use and the settings will define the coffee you get out of these machines Video Comparison on three Delonghi models [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kGtVa8pfoc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kGtVa8pfoc)
As others have said this is daily question machines from Delonghi, Jura and KitchenAid are the ones that get the most votes. All of them when dialed in with the right beans will make a good espresso and they have machines with a steam wand so you can make a milk based drink when you need or a milk system. Wee have a Delonghi Evo with the latte crema system its entry level super but its very good If you just want the best espresso only may want to ask here [https://www.reddit.com/r/espresso/](https://www.reddit.com/r/espresso/)
we have an Evo with the latte cream system since 2024 its been a great machine and very easy to use and maintain even new users in the house as its just has selection icons you can modify the recipes as well. we have made well over 3,000 milk based drinks in this time and many over ice as well as regular drinks you can find the Evo on sale and the upgraded next is the same machine just with a screen here is a video comparing the EVO with two other more expensive Delonghi models [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kGtVa8pfoc&t=4s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kGtVa8pfoc&t=4s)

Not really and if you not wanting to clean i would avoid a super automatic and you will find most recommendations are for Delonghi, Jura or Kichenaid machines Cleaning them is easy but its something you need to do We have a Delonghi Evo with the latte cream option and we make latte and Cappuccino drinks every day we have made well over 1,000 in the past year. Milk carafe can be topped up and put in the fridge for 3 days before cleaning - Cleaning for me is taking it apart (there are 5 separate pieces) i put them in a jug with hot soapy water and soak them for 15 minutes and then rinse with hot water let them dry and then fill up with milk and put in the fridge for next drink. You will need to empty out the puck bin every other day if you use it a lot and if not every 3 to 4 days and wash out to avoid mold. Same time as emptying pucks you will empty the drip tray this collects water that rinses the nozzles on startup and shut down and also rinses internally. Water tank will require filling every other day if you drink a lot Water tank has a filter you can replace every 2 months i use filtered water so its not a requirement and the machine can be run without filter. Depending upon the hardness of your water (You set this on the machine at the beginning) you will need to descale from either every month (very hard water) or every 6 months (Very soft Water) Every 3 months or less its up to you you will need to remove the brew group/Infuser unit (this is the unit where the puck is formed and the water goes through the puck and then the spent puck is pushed off into the puck container )and so you soak this in very hot water and rinse off and dry and then re-install. You will also need to add beans to the machine as some rate depending upon coffee shots made can be every other day or longer. wiping the outside of the machine should be done every week and cleaning of the sensor that detects the milk on the front of the machine. So No! based upon your requirements you should avoid a super automatic machine as they are all basically the same for cleaning :)
Great machine made over 1000 milk based drinks very easy to use and clean
Most super automatics are focused on espresso based drinks we have a Delonghi Evo which is an entry level machine that makes good espresso and can also do long blacks. However puck is the same so its more water through same volume of coffee on a longer drink you can get one with a manual steam wand which is lower cost. We mainly drink cappuccinos our son drinks over ice long drinks and we are all happy with the output. I don't know but i assume the more you spend the potential for bigger pucks and so stronger long drinks maybe an option. Just remember whatever machine you buy the beans and the grind define the taste
Some have the Latte Crema milk system and others have a wand some have 7 recipes and some have 5 then some of them its about the finish, black silver. Also you have the EVO next which has a screen over the icon selection but all all work the same We have the 7 recipe EVO with latte crema option been a great machine easy to use since 2024 mostly do milk based drinks and over ice. good review of the evo [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXNYcTYjMEg&t=473s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXNYcTYjMEg&t=473s)
We have the Evo with the latte Auto milk system it is a very good machine we have done over 3,000 milk based drinks since 2024 and its working great, son also does over ice every day. very easy to clean and maintain Entry level machine in reality and simple 7 recipes with some customization No fancy screen or app connectivity Can be bought on sale for $600 or less
I think many people feel the same and then jump into a high end machine first and in many cases are happy We have a Delonghi Evo and its been great and we drink Latte and Cappuccinos every day and our son drinks over ice it was a lot less than $1k and has the same brew group as the Eletta. Very easy to use and maintain Most of these machines you can vary the strength of the coffee and many happy people with Jura, Delonghi and KitchenAid machines. However the bean you use will define the drink and you will have to adjust to get the best tasting drink in many cases so be prepared for some learning.
Delonghi would be the one but you should look at the Evo as its a better comparison to the Philips do you need all the expensive options? Had an Evo since July 2024 its been a revelation when moving from Nespresso the coffee quality is very good and cleaning and maintenance is very easy. Most feedback will be for Delonghi, Jura or Kf7 machines as real options
We have the one with milk carafe as we like milk drinks we have made over 1,000 so far on the Evo its been awesome. We also have the over ice option which our son loves and uses everyday and he was not a coffee drinker and now he is :) The one with the wand is less money and would still give you the option for milk drinks when you want.
Super automatics in general are made for beginners. I would suggest a Delonghi Magnifica Evo or Magnifica Start for the budget-minded. Delonghi machines produce the best espresso at every price point even beating machines like the Jura Z10 at $4,000. The DeLonghi Magnifica Plus makes the best espresso of any consumer super automatic and it's only about $1000.
The only way to experience fresh roasted coffee is with fresh roasted coffee. Nespresso does an outstanding job with dark roast as the roasty and smoky notes are easily preserved in nitrogen flushed pods. Even their med roast pods are actually dark, and their light is more like medium. There are millions of people who enjoy Nespresso and there is nothing wrong with dark roast coffee. Most specialty roasted coffee (even dark roast) is way less dark than Nespresso or Starbucks and thus less intense. Many people transitioning from Nespresso and trying fresh roasted coffee for the first time often think the coffee taste weak and too bright. This is because coffee Is somewhat an acquired taste and your palate has come accustomed to dark roast. If you can resist the urge to buy super dark beans such as Starbucks and Lavazza your palate will begin to wake up and you will be able to appreciate a much wider variety of specialty coffee. You will also find that Nespresso begins to taste a bit burnt and bitter when enjoyed straight. On the other hand, if you absolutely love dark coffee the experience on a super auto will still be better than Nespresso but only marginally so. Phillips machines are good and they actually dose about the same as Nespresso, but a De'Longhi start or evo is a better option as it doses higher and grind finer. of course, there are more expensive models that produce even better espresso but if you're interested in the Philips, I take it you're looking on the more budget side of things.
The Evo Next is a big step up from the original Evo line here in the US. A few hundred dollars more and you can get the Magnifica Plus which is even better. I would go but either the Evo next or Magnifica Plus.
The KF6 and Evo are very similar in espresso quality. The KF6 doses higher but the Evo has a better grinder, no pressurized crema fluffer, and can actually be dialed in to the SCA standard extraction time of 20-30. It's a difficult choice for sure. just don't get the Phillips and you'll be fine.
Coffee is so subjective. One person will suggest one and then someone else will tear it down. Personally we have recently bought a delonghi evo next. Im sure theres plenty of others out there but we are really happy with it anyway
Buy a delonghi. Had one of these for a month. Never made a single cup of good coffee. Magnifica evo next, 2nd brew right out of the box was amazing.
I bought the $399 refurbished Delonghi Magnifica Evo from Woot/Amazon and coming from a manual Breville Barista and a Baratza Sette 270 grinder I’m actually really impressed and will probably just roll with the Magnifica going forward. If purchased brand new they would be about the same price as the Delonghi and vice versa FWIW. I don’t need the freshest beans to produce a decent enough shot for cappuccinos and lattes. Clean up is a relative breeze. Other members of the household can figure out how to use it quite easily compared to a manual espresso machine even if it had a lot of bells and whistles. Will I still keep and use the Breville+Baratza? Of course, especially if I find particularly fresh and tasty beans. But for an everyday coffee machine I would choose the Delonghi (I think the Magnifica Start is identical in terms of coffee making abilities to the Evo but with less settings out of the box and a smaller price IIRC) ETA: currently using bean setting 3 (largest), and hottest brewing setting. I haven’t messed with custom stuff like water amount used per shot but I have only had the thing for about a week so give me some more time
I have had mine for almost 2 years now. I have no desire to get something else.
I wanted to buy semi automatic so bad but my wife who was expecting a child told me that we won’t have time to do all that espresso things. Now I just press an “espresso” button on my DeLonghi Magnifica Evo and that’s it. I know that it is not a “proper” espresso but hey I just want to quickly have a coffee while playing with my kid in the mornings.
The magnifica evo would be the budget option in the states I think at $550, but doesn't have the easy user experience and a screen.
