I’d go for a lower-end Jura and a Morning Dream steamer. I have an E8 and recently bought the Dream, absolute game changer. I can now stream milk with virtually no wait time and with little effort. Have no desire to go to cafes anymore. Now that I have the E8 I would have chosen a cheaper Jura.
Jura E8. I thought my husband was insane when he brought this home. Genuinely makes great coffee. I neither know or care about the science behind it, but same beans and water as my old coffee maker yet a far superior product. We’ve had it 3 years and it is used at an absolute minimum 2x a day. I’ve also used it for gatherings of 20 people . The only drawback being only 1 cup can be made at a time. Great customer service. I have had 2 problems, both my fault, and they responded quickly and fixed my issues. For example, one time I dropped a piece into the garbage disposal and they replaced it, free. It was a piece that wasn’t sold separately and I noticed the newer models are made so it doesn’t come off.
Yeah. I guess this is the rub. I dislike unitaskers, but I prefer to have one thing in this particular instance to do its job really well. If I need to swap out beans I can. I can in a few minutes wipe the burrs in my grinder and be on my merry way. My machine is just a fancy boiler than can also push out steam for milk. - Great for hot chocolate with steamed milk. - Or quickly boils and dispenses hot water for tea. If the grinder should need servicing… I can suffer through some pre ground beans for a few days… And I can always aeropress, drip or use instant when the machine needs a service. Personal preference. Things have likely improved in the last decade. The Jura e8 looks rad.
My brother has a KF8 and I have a Jura E8, and while the KF8 is great, if you don't mind the premium price of a Jura, get an E8. The taste side by side is noticeably better on the E8, with or without milk.
I love my E8. Daily use for the past 8 years without an issue.
I have them them both. The taste is different, I wouldn't say one is noticably better or thousands better for that matter either.
Jura does something to texture the espresso artificially. Other machines don't. It's not better or worse just different.
Jura has a 16g max dose. Miele/KitchenAid/Melitta 15g. Gaggia 11g, Delonghi 12g. I have a semi too and I would never go back to less than 15g dose on a super auto for the serving size alone, then again flavor. I've tried them. Also no one should pay more than $600usd for a gaggia or at all. They are glorified Philips machines. The steam wand in them (and Delonghi) are under powered, the dose size is too small.
Or E8. Bit better, mostly with milk, better grinder (not sure if e6 is same after update as both had one), around 1k.
My Jura E8 makes.a.teally good espresso, doppio and capuccino. Not sure about how to make double capuccino though.
Yea I saw it too online, but I am still debating. I am still considering the Jura J8 due to current pricing and I tried out a Jura E8 and the latte it made was quite good.
How often do you need to mail in the Jura for servicing? I had tried out a Jura E8 today and I liked it, it made a really good cup of coffee.
